"Kush refers to a subset of strains of indica cannabis. The origins of Kush cannabis are from landrace plants mainly in Afghanistan, but are also from Iran, Pakistan, and Northern India,[1] with the name coming from the Hindu Kush mountain range. "Hindu Kush" strains of cannabis were brought to the United States in the mid-to-late 1970s and continue to be available there to the present day.[2]

Kush strains were among those cultivated by the British firm GW Pharmaceuticals for its legally licensed commercial trial of medicinal cannabis.[3]

It is a hybrid strain of cannabis consisting of part sativa and part indica; resulting from the cross pollination of two flowers: Lemon Thai and Afghani. Its effects are believed to be effective in treating inflammatory bowel disease, insomnia, anxiety, and lack of appetite"

I was reading ads from the medical places around LA, and on one ad, they listed a whole bunch of different Kush Hybrids. So much so that they listed one as "Mostly Sativa" while the others "Mostly Indica"

Something tells me, a lot of these "Kush" strains aren't "Kush" at all...

A strict definition of Kush is this and only this:

a plant that originates from the Kush valleys in Afghanistan.

I hate to see terms bastardized.

I disagree with the person who wrote that article, and remember my friend anyone can wrote an article for Wikipedia.

Take it all with grain of salt;

everyone is chasing the gravy train, and "Kush", the name not the strain is the flavor of the month.

It appears that the name "Kush" is being broadened,

so that it now includes all plants that have been bred for resin production

in the hashish smoking countries.

all the best, my friend,

john.

Kush is 100% cannabis indica;

thank you for your excellent post "Hindu Kush story" Dfwi

my definition, which was from memory, was a little too narrow.

all the best,

john
