jankahar 599 Posted July 9, 2013 when you burn kerosene or hydrocarbon fuel you get around 80% of the initial amount of fuel blowing back as water h2o steam from the jet engine due chemical reaction, the water vapor hits the over -30 celcius air at 9km altitude and immidiately freezes to cloud that can linger from few seconds, minutes to hours depending on weather. pretty cool, science is amazing Link to comment
