  1. Hi All. This is my 3rd grow and boy have I come a long way. Im still not a pro, but I have learned alot. My second grow was unsuccessful because of my lack of experience in growing in promix coco coir. Heat also being an issue. Anyways back to the Velvet Bud grow.... Apparently Velvet bud is a descendent of Purple bud. Velvet bud is produced by Seedsman. I didn't pick this strain. It was given to me because of a order blunder from the local outlet...so this is how I ended up with it. My set up is: 800mm x 800mm x 1250mm grow tent 400w MH/HPS 400w digital ballast 100mm centrifugal extractor fan 4 x 20L pots Soil medium : promix coco coir perlite mix 50/50 Pots lined with filter floss Hydroponics system using normal 3 part nutrients system. Grow nutes Micro nutes and Bloom nutes by EHG. Seedling stage: 3 out of 5 seeds germinated. Seedlings where ready for transplanting into the bigger pots after about 2 weeks. Used a humidity dome to keep the fellows warms as temps where still cool. I felt that the seedlings responded well to a temp of 24 celcius. 15% nutes of bloom grow and micro. Two seedlings flourished while the 3 guys lagged behind a bit. Unfortunately no pics of the seedling stage. Vegative stage: Once these guys got into the bigger pots they just took off. Ramping up the nutes gradually to 90 % of the recommended dosage with Grow, Micro and CalMag( a definite must for growing in coco coir). I only topped these plants once, then after a few days I LST the 4 main branches by pulling them down with pipe cleaners. The above picture is after 3 weeks of vegging since I put the seedlings into these pots. Good vigorous growth for Velvet Bud! I ended up using an auto pot for one on the right. I also added an airstone and pump. You can clearly see the difference! Im not doing any testing. Im just following the schedule on the nutrient bottle but dosing slightly less and seeing how the plants respond. I add a table spoon of CalMag to every 10L of normal tap water. 18/6 light schedule with MH globe. Temps where a little low so I added a temp sensor switch to my extractor fan. When the light comes on it also acts as a heater, so when the temp got to 25 celcius the extractor fan would come on and cool the tent and plants down with cool air from the outside. Above is a picture of the temperature controller. The sensor is in the tent, it also has a heating as well as a cooling option. This controller really helps with keeping a constant temperature. The above pic is at 4 weeks veg. Nice lush vigorous growth.Plant is looking really bushy and healthy. Velvet bud is responding well to the nutrients. Grow 20ml/10l, Micro 10ml/10l and Tblspn CalMag. Normal tap water with no testing. You're probably wondering what that piece of acrylic is for....well its a budget way to replicate a ventilated hood. I'm not using the temp controller anymore as the outside temps have risen so now I have the extractor fan running constantly. I had a piece of perspex(acrylic) clear cut to fit the tent perfectly. I used a holesaw to cut holes into the acrylic glass directly under where the globe would be. I did this because when the extractor fan creates the negative air pressure inside the tent, its will pull the tent tight around the edges of the acrylic and force the cool air from the bottom compartment into the above compartment directly over the globe therefore also keeping the globe cool and keeping my plants cool. Its also adjustable. I also have been using a humidifier on and off. I usually only use it weather depending. During this time I also took six clones. I used a rooting hormone and rockwool cubes all six clones rooted after 10 days. Velvet Bud takes good clones!!! I gave 4 away (good karma) and added 2 clones to a fourth pot. I had to leave for a month and had to ask very nicely if she would take care of them. I had to mod the grow to make it as easy as possible for her maintain. So I bought a tray to fit the tent and ripped out the single auto valve I had, stuck it in the center of the tray, chucked the plants in, filled the tray with hydroton balls, made a watering schedule and nutrient mix levels( 20ml/10l bloom 10ml/10l micro 1/2 Tblspn CalMag) 10l and Mondays and 10l on Thursdays and had to leave for a month wondering if my girlfriend would take good care of my babies........ Whoo hooo!!! So after a month of flowering I return to this!!! Velvet Bud is looking so good and really is starting to smell so good. Nice sweet fruity smell ! My girlfriend did good!!! Box of chocolates for her!! I was mostly impressed with the two clones I had planted into the fourth pot front right in the picture. Heads as big as the rest and looking super healthy with fat nugs forming on the stems. Week 6 of flowering and Velvet Buds are swelling up and are just smelling irresistible!! Another wider pic at 6 weeks. Tents is so full!! 😁 The above pic is at 9 weeks flower. Buds are full of trichomes and have been flushing. Trichomes are not completely cloudy though so will defs have to go for another week. 9 weeks.... Buds are so fat they are starting to lean on each other with only the tent sides holding them up! Thats all for today folks.....will continue with this grow story once I have harvested. Its just about ready. Till then..chow
  2. Hello and Welcome to my First blog...... Thanks for stopping by, I'm EastCoastCannaCure(Ryan), am in my early 30's and have been learning from growing for 12 years at this point. Basically I'm 12years inexperienced as we are just learning so much about cannabis at a mind blowing rate these days, and the leaps and bounds being taken each day by notables such as Remo, and Horatio, the guys at StrainHunters and GreenHouse Seeds for some amazing genetics, that a vast part of the true "experience" and knowledge is still out there and being attained and sought after. With colleges being started and the science and techniques themselves being truly explored, and the amount of knowledge being gained, it sure is a great time to be a part of such a positive change and developing a quality and natural medicine. I have somewhat trickled over from the forums (after only one post I had been updating) as the schedule I keep and the time I currently spend with my favorite ladies seems to transfer over well with the context and delivery of a blog.. well we will see anyway. I will continue to update both of them and see which one works best. Now.. why I'm here. I maintain at this moment 3 grow tents 2 are 4 x 4 and one is 8x4. I just moved and had to start from seed, as quality clones locally were not available at the time and luckily enough the great folks at GreenHouseSeeds/StrainHunters gifted me a pack of Super Critical, The Church, and the long flowering Neville's Haze so I could share my grow experience with these strains to you.. each in its own set of lighting (I use both LED, HPS, and CFL( for mothers and clones)). I like to run side by sides and test different strains in different ways. I plan on doing a advanced nutrients vs remo nutrients side by side very soon. I have always been a loyal Advanced Nutrients user, but a friend of mine introduced me to Remo Nutrients and a side by side he was conducting... and I must say Id have to be a fool not to give Remo a try(I have not yet tried any of StrainHunters nutrients but do plan on trying them and testing results with them as well as I do like their packaged approach and would love to test its simplicity and how well it produces healthy, deficient free medicine.) I guess in this post I'll detail what I have currently in progress and where I plan to be and of course how I am getting there. Basically right now I have popped 3 Super Critical Beans and I had one Super Sensi Star + Critical bean left from a previous grow and wanted a mother from that so I popped that as well. I am growing them in a top and bottom feed 4 plant DWC-Recirculating hydroponic system, they were seedling'd under a 600w LED and then veg'd under 2 600W LEDS and 1 600W HPS in the middle, and are now in week 2 of Flower with a 1200W LED and a 600W HPS in a 8x4 tent. My next post will detail some pictures of leading up to where I'm at, and some information on my techniques and how they work for me.. I am open to suggestions as there is definitely more then one way to skin a cat, and yes some of those ways are simply proven to be more efficient or more beneficiary then others. Stay tuned.
  3. hi fellow growers, well after a year of seeking info and gathering supplies i decided that i will start to grow my own weed. it been a long road but i'm finally there. here are some pics from the girls. i'm in day 8 now from seed, and day 2 under 400 watts hps. and have a little problem with the humidity, can't get it higher than 55. hope i'm doing alright so far, every tip is welcome. and will be uploading once or twice a week, keep growing. bless
  4. GROWING MEDIUM/SOIL STRUCTURE: Canna coco, hydroton, rockwool ROOM SIZE: 900mm x 500mm x 1600mm Grow tent LIGHTING & WATTAGE: Cooltube 400W HPS AVERAGE TEMPERATURE & HUMIDITY: 27°C day & 21°C night & 40%-50% NUMBER OF PLANTS: Two TOTAL FLOWERING TIME: 7 weeks with a production up to 800g/m2 (under 1000W per m2) GENETICS: Big Bud x Skunk x White Widow NUTRIENT/FEED MIX & FEEDING CYCLES: Canna coco A&B,Canna rhizotonic,Canna cannazyme,Canna pk 13/14 & Canna booster, casti CANNABIS STRAINS & ANY COMMENTS REGARDING THEM: Auto Super Critical from Greenhouse seeds, physical fast-hitting,with a narcotic side effect & a very relaxing finish. Medicinally effective in pain therapy. Hi crew this is one of my current grows,as of today the girls are at day 4 of week two of flower, they vegged for 3 1/2 weeks before they flipped themselves, internodal lenght is a little different between the two plants, the more compact of the two seems like it may yield a little better but time will tell,I have some photos from veg that I may upload another time,at the moment PH is @5.80 and PPM is 900,flushing once a week, peace Kush
  5. Hi folks, i'm already into my 12/12 Bloom period by about 10 days after Veg'n for 4 weeks under a 300 CFL in a Powerplant hood, im using Bio-Bizz All Mix soil and aiming for all organic. I have used only Brewed Tea's for feeding so far, made with Bat Guano, Earth Worm Castings, Blood,Bone and Fish Meal and Cal Mag. I put around a tablespoon of each per Gallon in a 5 Gallon bucket with an airstone and leave for at least 48 hours , until the foamy, bubbling mass appears on top of the water. I have also put some Black Treacle (Mollasses) in as well but i think this is only meant to be added at flowering time...Any confirmation guys ?? I think they probably could have did with a little longer Veg Time but as i want these finished for Santa comin and i expect the Cheese and Mibbe the Lemon Skunk to take 9 weeks to finish, mibbe 10, that i better start the 12/12 period sooner. They have been under a 600w HPS for around 10 days now and of the 5 plants , 4 are showing the first pistils of the flowering plant I up till now had always used the DWC Hydro method so this is the first time going organic and 1st time soil also. I am going to continue using the above mentioned feeds in the Brewed Tea delivery but i have some Bio Bizz organic Bloom, and the Ionic Grow , Bloom and Boost, so i want to avoid using that at all to keep organic as i have been told the difference in taste is worth it. When they were seedlings i nearly killed them due to foliar spraying when they were under the lights , so i nearly lost them !! I actually thought it was signs of burning (Nute burn) and thought that maybe the soil was too hot, it was a friend on FB who suggested water/light damage , so i raised the light and stop everything to let them recover, glad to say i was advised correctly and they did recover. I am by no means a champion grower and i am always open to new tricks of the trade or tips, anything that can/will improve the health of my ladies, so if i am doing something wrong or you know a better way, please, feel free to point this out to me. These are the pics of this grow so far, from seedling, Veg and last few are from a couple days ago under the 600w HPS. Peace Y'all MelloJamie
