  1. Always enjoyed growing things always had a green thumb. Started seriously at about 11 - 12 years old around 1981, taking over my mothers sad vegetable garden. Garden harvest was great nothing but compliments and requests for more. I was hooked started reading books and learning everything about growing. Around 1984 started growing indoors it was a new concept i used to buy high times just to read the ask Ed section which at that time was when Ed was trying to grow indoors for the first time and I was right there with him learning by trial and error and figuring it out as I went along. So I would religiously follow Ed (Rosenthal) if you aren't that old, to see his problems and solutions to them so I could avoid experiencing problems that Ed had found b4 I did. I would send many posts in to share my discoveries and to ask questions to pick his brain. I was 15 and had read enough books and followed a NASA research project that a was designing a growing habitat that could thrive on Mars. So I was pretty knowledgeable in the biology of plants and the latest research in various horticulture techniques. It became an obsession constantly learning and tweaking things and it was so much work it took up so much of my time. Although i had the best weed in the city. (San Francisco) Not bragging but people still talk about it today. Lol. I was 15 selling ozs at $200 a pop and I had our basement freezer full of dried and weighed ounce zip locks. So I could move it quickly because everyone wanted it and i only sold ounces. Had way to much money and lots of friends and a loyal customer who was a big coke dealer and would always want to trade instead of paying cash. So yeah that happened and all my friends got taken care of always. To be young again lol. Anyway after a few years I had worked out all the kinks and indoor growing was starting to be made available to the public. Grow light companies started popping up selling stuff that was made for growing indoors, not stolen street lights that I started with until an applied hydroponics store opened up a few hours drive from me. I made my mom drive me there on her day off. I remember it clearly I knew more than people in store did, they were dumbfounded I was only 15 or 16 at time and spent almosts 1000 dollars and they didn't even have the store fully set up yet they had just opened the day prior. After a few years I shut it down and joined the military. Left it all behind me until about 2 to 3 years ago I got bored and needed a hobby so I did my research on what has changed learned what i needed to get caught up bought a tent and its a hobby that i still enjoy and accidentally found my way here and am excited to read and learn from other growers here as well as share anything that may be helpful to others. I actually have completed grow journals that I keep from previous crops complete with daily written updates along with pictures that go along with them for at least 2 complete crops and 1 I'm currently on that I just started flowering 3 weeks ago. I would love to post those grows along with current one but am new here and not sure how yet. So when I figure it out depending on how much work it is to post it here I may post them. If not at least I will start from where my current grow is and my babies which I have been selectively breeding working towards something that I'm close to but not quite there yet. Anyways I rambled on enough I'm glad to be here and excited to contribute or at least talk to people who understand and appreciate growing techniques etc because I have nobody here to discuss growing with all they care about is the finished project they can care less how you made it. Lol. Thanks everyone
  2. Hey there! I have recently started planting cannabis and I'm from Brazil currently living in Canada! My current dream is to find some Pink Mango seeds hehe
  3. Hello fellow growers, consumers and strain hunters! Where to start... Well as most of you may know, South Africa has recently amended the laws surrounding the recreational use and cultivation of Cannabis within a, "private setting" and although the, "paperwork" isn't yet finalized in terms of how much we can grow or carry, I find myself engulfed with the need to source and collect the worlds purest strains. However, this is definitely biting off more than I can chew so for the time being I've placed my focus on near national strains.. So far I've been fortunate enough to acquire some Durban Poison and South African Kwazulu seeds but they're unfortunately not from trusted sources. To add, I might just have my hands on some 30+ year old seeds that originated from Malawi (says dad). If that is the case and he is in fact able to find where he stashed them, I recon I'd have the purest form of Malawi Gold in all of SA, possibly even Africa which personally, even if they're no longer viable, gets me very excited! A lil about me: South African born and bred, jack of all trades, perfectionist by heart, always looking for new things to excel at, I'll never turn away advice from others as I believe we can never know enough and I welcome both innovative and traditional ideas or techniques. Recently I've invested a lot of time in researching various, "farming" techniques, two of which that suck fast were, "Permaculture" for outdoor grows and, "Rotary Gardens" for indoor grows. I'm highly inventive with a strong background in 3D design, be it Architecture, Animation or Character Design so I find my mind is always looking for new ways to achieve a goal or simply improve on an existing system. My dream: To take advantage of our recreational laws and to start a business whereby independent growers can have their harvest tested, then processed and refined (if good enough) into medicinal grade products such as Tinctures, Oils, Vapes, Shatter, Waxes etc. South Africa has a high rate of medical problems that Cannabis is proven to treat in an effective manner but as you all know, medical grade anything is pricey as and with our economy and unemployment rate being what it is, people are simply not able to afford it, not to mention that the sale of said product is still illegal. Can't think of anything else to add at this point but that's that in a nutshell. =P PS. I'm honored to be a part of this community and I hope to see nothing but great things for each and every member! Signing off, Steffano
  4. Hello everyone, I'm from Brazil and here we have one of the worst grass of the entire fucking Universe... kkk Cause that I'll start to grow my own shit. It's my first time cultivating so I'll have plenty of questions and concerns through the process and hope I find some help who already stood in my shoes. If some one wanna give me a head start, some advises would be very very welcome! Thank you guys and let's POF!!!
  5. hi everybody, It a pleasure to be in this forum, this is the first year I'm trying to growing. I have a bluedream and chemdawg both from humboldt. They both have 10 days and growing in a green house.
  6. Hey guys! Just thought I'd tell a little about myself. I've been growing about 6 years now, and loving every minute of it. I've been a user of medical herb since I was in 8th or 9th grade, they always said weed would be a gateway to more dangerous things like sucking toes for crack and fruit loops. Well, they were half right, in that MJ can be a gateway, but not to dangerous things, whenever anyone I talk to says the words "cannabis is a gateway" in that order is when they say "growing has been a gateway to gardening, I now have a jungle in my backyard." or something similar. Thats the boat I'm in, at first I was only into growing my girls. Then I decided to grow some catnip for my little fuzzy buddy Etnie. After I learned catnip had pest repellant properties I looked for other companion plants to help me grow the dank, and found that I'm interested in botany and plants as a whole. 5 years from my first 'companion plant' experiment and I'm growing Tomatoes, Beans (to fix nitrogen into the soil), and a gang of plants, consisting of Lemon Balm, Mint, Cayenne and Habenaro Peppers, that I plan on turning into an insect repellent. I also have a sundew and Venus Flytrap ... Along with some Romanesco, which I thought was beautiful and has a very interesting fractal pattern. I love growing both hydroponically and organically in supersoil/no till type situations, Although I find myself digging deeper and deeper into the 'soil food web' rabbit hole. I love the symbiosis achieved by a soil crawling with microbeasties and other soil life, and the fact that i'm not feeding my plants from bottles filled with "who-knows-what" and other shit I cant pronounce. I'm currently using Roots Organic's uprising line to amend my soils and it seems to be going well in my outside bed. For my hydro I'm using Soul Synthetics, I've had good results with Supernatural brand dry nutes but I liked the idea of the soul line, that has both organic inputs as well as mineral. I'm also a caregiver for my Mom (who will be referred to from here on out as 'Momma Saint') who has been fighting AML (a form of leukemia) for a few years. after she was first diagnosed, she completed the treatment but ended up with a STAPH infection in her PICC line, which ended up with her in an (induced) month long coma. She recovered from that and in Feb this year she had a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. I brought her into the ER and her AML was back. While we were dealing with that, we decided on a Bone Marrow Transplant to rid her of the leukemia (if all goes well) for many years. We knew there was a chance of something horrible happening but it was a risk we had to take. On May 18th, the day after my birthday, Momma Saint was admited to the Tranplant Unit at Spectrum/Butterworth hospital. It has been quite a long process, But I'm happy to say it looks like the transplant has been a success, and a couple weeks ago I was able to bring Ma Saint back home to finish healing. She's now about 40 days past her transplant and (knock on wood) there have been zero setbacks and things are all going as planned. It's been more exhausting than I can explain but I'd do it a thousand times again if I had to!
  7. Hi, 117equinox here, always on the lookout for natural, & ancient strains.. always been a wish to be able to look through greenhouse / strainhunters vaults.. im specifically interested in trying to obtain landrace srtains, hopefully from expeditions, that you just dont have the time to do.. & more than that the ancient strains.. 100's - 1000's of years old. Some of which i bought and some i found growing in the suburbs. So i cant say anything about the quality of these plants and the seeds, their strain. Now i am about to go hunting around and just outside kathmandu. So i was wondering if u guys could help me with that. 10. Hello all , New to the group and I had a question. I am running Royal queens northern lights and I was wondering if anyone had a journal or some good info on the strain. Just about 4'' in veg. Feeding habits, stress responsiveness, ???..... Also growing in Hydro so please take that mind. Thank you, cheers-
  11. Hello to everyone! It's nice to be around. I'm just here for learning about cannabis growing and upload some pics of my plants, ask for suggestions and opinions. I started growing some just this year so I think it will really contribute to this beautiful hobby. Growing marihunana its not illegal here (of course exterior growing has much more legal troubles thank indoor for obvious reasons) but buying seeds yes, so it's quite difficult to get them! Hope you keep doing well!

    Sir

Hi from London, wanting to tap into the knowledge of our strainhunting cousins across the North Sea
  13. Hi everyone, I just got back into growing again after 11 years. I only did it 3 times before outdoors, ok but nothing fantastic because of the great Irish weather lol. this time i'm doing it indoors, hopefully all will go good. the two in the back are Feminized Northern Lights#5 x Haze, and the two in front and middle are Purple Bud.
  14. Hello from Canada, Just a quick note of introduction. Back in the 80s, I used to do some growing but as life and family moved along, I stopped. I have just recently got back into growing but now inside. Doing research on-line I found the Strain Hunters videos with Arjan and Franco and was very impressed with the quality of the productions and the professionalism! I signed up to another on-line forum (before I knew this one existed) which has be very helpful with my grows but am looking forward to seeing what this has to offer. My first grow was was Purple Kush, in organic soil with organic nutrients under cfls. I now have a grow room, still using organic soil and nutrients but now have HID lights and a lot more space. I have been growing Purple Kush and White Widow so far but am looking to do a run of Green Crack next. Looking forward to get to know everyone! Hobby420
  15. Hey I am a big fan, although a recent one. I was born in New York but I really enjoyed the documentary on St. Vincent and the Grenadines because I have spent a lot of time there. DanKnuckles
  16. Hello everyone, I'm from Belgium (so go easy on me if I make any mistakes with writing English). I'm still relatively new with this all, because i have just started learning about the whole process of growing. But i am eager to learn more about it and that's probably my main reason why I came to this forum. That's about it i think, if you have any questions about me you can ask me.
  17. Hey there everyone. I am a new aspiring grower from the U.S. I am interested in indoor growing mainly hydroponics with newer equipment (not anything too serious, as i am on a budget and doing a stealth grow) and i am rather intrigued by LED lights. i also would like to learn which medium is best for me to grow in as well as nutes. Maybe one day i can grow large crops with massive yields. haha Cheers everyone and stay high.
  18. Ive grown before and am growing again, its become a passion of mine. These are photos of my first or second grow a few years back, i only used a desk lamp and a small amount of mirical grow but she grew up and smelt amazing until she was cut down
  19. Hello to everyone, I am glad I found this community, I subscribed to this forum after watching the footage of the mission in Morocco, Malawi and India. I really liked the concept behind the Strain Hunters, especially regarding the social work that you are doing. Showing that there still are cultures around the world where cannabis is a part of the daily living, a sustainable resource for economy as well as a recreational and medical use. Your contribution in building awareness of the cannabis is a a very valuable job. Once it was like this also in Italy: my grandfather was growing hemp in open fields and our community was having a lot of benefits, now I have to grow indoor because a couple of big ass-holes in US decided cannabis was dangerous for their business model. I am myself I traveler and I speak Portuguese, English, Spanish, a little Swedish and a little French (if this could be of any help for any of the visitor of this forum please let me know), I have been traveling several times to Africa and South America and I loved to see the respect you showed for each place you visited, the humility in asking for information and in wanting to know more about the story and the culture of locals. I try to do the same when I visit countries to learn how to play drums and percussion, and it's also through these things that you can get to know local culture. Useless saying I would leave with you for any so called "mission" even tomorrow morning , but I see there is already an Italian guy who is really skilled ! hugs, J. PS1: I was in Amsterdam for the last 25th Cannabis Cup and I went to the Green House coffee shop just to smoke the winning Sharkberry Cream, FANTASTIC ! PS2: FRANCO SEI UN MITO !!!
  20. Hello! I'm from Argentina and I love growing marijuana. My experiences are 100% indoor, hopefully be of help and learn a lot from you. Greetings MARIHUANOSSSSSSSS!

I'm from Paris, and expecting to move very in Germany (Munich) to continue my studies there. If there are member of the community already living there, It'll be nice to hear from them and exchange tips and plans. Peaaaace !!
