Seedlings of three Neville's haze plants grown from feminized seeds from «Green House Seeds» (on August 7, 2018, in all three plants - 108 days from seedlings, 56 days from the appearance of stigmas).

---

Almost from the beginning of life, and to the middle of July, the plants had a light period of 18/6 (day/night). During the day, the plants stood outside, under the sun, unless there was a strong wind or rain, and in the morning and in the evening, as a "sun", the plants had a 55 watt 4200 (Navigator) lamp.

Photos before boarding in open ground (August 7, 2018):

---

All three Neville's haze will be grown in the usual way.
Place of cultivation: 44° north latitude, Russia, Primorsky Krai.

Neville's haze has a rather long flowering period and for complete maturation it is necessary to grow it on more southern latitudes. But even on the 44th latitude, it is quite possible to get an excellent "smoking material".

---

To, at the time of flowering, not only mature plants, but also compact ones, it was decided that the plants would grow from shoots to planting in open ground in containers with a volume of ~ 3 liters. But even in "such" volume, the plants continued to grow actively, and at this point it was decided to remove the large leaves that were on the central trunks of plants - this decision slowed, but did not stop the growth.

At the end of July, two weeks before disembarkation into the open ground, the substrate was washed in which the plants were located.

The substrate in which the plants grew was made by itself: peat (rubbed through a 1x1 cm grid and calcined) 1 part, cow bark (rubbed through a 1x1 cm grid) 1 part, river river "by eye" and a glass (on a bucket of substrate) oak ash . The prepared substrate was spilled 2 times with a solution of "Phytosporin-M".

---

In the land, at the site of planting, in the autumn of 2017, black peat was added (it is unknown when, but lies, under the open sky, for more than 11 years, before on the peat, mushrooms grew on their own), 1 kg of superphosphate (nitrogen - 6%, phosphorus - 26% + sulfur, calcium, magnesium).

---

Organomineral fertilizer for plants:
1.) Nitrogen humate (N 3% / P 1.5% / K 3%) - in the early stages 2 ml (per 1 liter of water); As you grow up, it takes up to 4 ml. If you give less, it shows a shortage of nitrogen.
2.) Superphosphate solution - 8 tablespoons (granulated superphosphate N 6% / P 26% + sulfur, calcium and magnesium) per 2 liters of boiling water; working solution of 15 ml, and above, per liter of water.

To avoid overturning, in case of strong wind, rain or wind with rain, the plants were planted with the deepening of the root neck:

All plants have 115 days from germination, 63 days from the appearance of stigmas.
---
Since the planting of plants - a week has passed and the following has been found out:
Firstly, additional supports are extremely important for plants, otherwise, a good rain with wind immediately bends them to the ground;
Secondly - the distance from the ground to the first branches, which was left during the landing, is clearly not enough. During the rain, the "dirty" splashes falling on the branches, brought dirt on them. Which, incidentally, was not washed off immediately.
---
All that needed to be done at this stage was done:
1) The plants are tied to wooden stakes driven into the ground;
2) A pair of lower branches on each plant is trimmed.
---
Plants, for the past week, were fed 2 times, in the form of an aqueous solution: nitrogen humate + superphosphate (dosage is the same).
---

Loving the structure of your plants and the detail in your diary, @Chesterland The plants look great for such small 3l pots, I would not thought that was possible so thanks for showing it is.

Did two of the five beans not germinate? (So a 60% success rate). I'm wondering where to store beans/seeds for the future. Fridge, freezer, jar, I don't know.

Your plants are the same age (give or take a day) as my Space Cookies (indoor grow, Day 39 of flowering today). I have some GHS Haze's germinating so am interested in watching how yours perform.

Happy Growing!

@Chesterland

Hello chesterland nice grow wat about the climate in your country ?

Hello, g22!

Here is a very good description of the climate of Primorsky Krai in Russia:

“The climate is temperate monsoon. Winter is dry and cold, with clear weather, there are often thaws on the coast. Spring is long, with frequent temperature fluctuations. Summer is warm and humid, in the summer months there is a maximum amount of precipitation, in some areas up to 90% of the annual amount. There are typhoon outlets, which sometimes inflict enormous damage on infrastructure and agriculture. Autumn is warm, sunny and dry. In summer the south-east winds from the Pacific Ocean prevail, and in the winter north-west, bringing cold, but clear weather from the continental regions.” – Wikipedia (ru).

Age: 122 days;

From the appearance of stigmas: 70 days;

Height: 105 cm;

The increase over the past week is: +7 cm, ~ 1 cm per day.

Plant # 01 - markedly distinguished. At once, the structure of branches attracts attention - they grow not just horizontally, but at a negative angle, slightly lifting the tops toward the sun. On branches of the first order - twigs of the second order grow well. All this looks - very unusual. Noticeably the difference between the leaves - the "fingers" are narrower than those of the leaves of the other two plants. As for any odor in the plant, it appeared this week and is very weak - it is felt only close. What exactly smells, it is still difficult to describe.

In general, looking at plants # 02 and # 03 from a distance, it seems - clones, but this is not entirely true. There is a certain similarity only the structure of branching, and the color and shape of the leaves are different.

---

Plants received food 2 times over the past week. The composition of the aqueous solution is the same (humate of nitrogen 4 ml + superphosphate 12 ml per 1 liter of water).

Neville's haze plant # 02

Age: 136 days;
Flowering: 16 days;

Height: 149 cm;
The increase over the past week is: +9 cm, ~ 1.30 cm per day.

At the second week of flowering, the side branches of plant # 02, began to stretch and fall down - the phenotype, is becoming more like the original (meaning the main phenotype of Neville's haze from GHS). In fact, the whole plant is stretched, but the side branches do it a little faster - it looks chic. Reminds a noble lady in a gorgeous dress, at some pompous event.

Neville's haze is slowly gaining momentum.

After 2 weeks of flowering, on the tops of the side branches of plant # 02, the flower cups are already clearly visible.

Neville's haze plant # 03

Age: 136 days;

Flowering: 7 days;
Height: 137 cm;
The increase over the past week is: +8 cm, ~ 1,1 cm per day.

Plants continue to actively build branches. To the main branches of the first order - there are no questions, but here the growth of the second-order branches grows chaotically - down and to the sides. So, such branches of plants growing inward, will be removed - there will be no sense from them, but energy is still taken away from plants.
About circumcisions and the like.
Regarding any manipulation with the plant - I rely on the wisdom of the Oaxaca Indians (Mexican state):
”The philosophy of these farmers is that a normal, healthy plant which has not grown the best product for human use. To develop a potent product, the plant must be tortured by environmental extremes, unusual pruning methods and the technique of crucifixion which will be explained presently.”

September 11, 2018.

The rainy season came to an end and finally good weather settled.

WP_20180911_17_44_50_Pro.thumb.jpg.97befba6c1e73580e06b275c11204af9.jpg

As before, Neville's haze plants from GHS make me happy with the slow onset of flowering.  But, at last there was a specifics. It became clear which phenotype, and how, the flowering begins.

The main goal of the 2018 season is to look at all varieties (phenotypes) of the Neville's haze variety. To look at their behavior in the conditions of the street on the 44th latitude, then to clone the plant with the desired phenotype for the next season (2019), already specifically for the crop.

WP_20180911_08_46_45_Pro.thumb.jpg.bd5cd96e310bee137815438466a58034.jpg

The case is made - twigs of the second order (clones) were sliced on September 10, from plants # 02 and # 03.

Why was it decided to clone only plants # 02 and # 03?

If everything is clear with plant # 02 (signs of flowering were discovered on August 19), plant # 03 was cloned because the plant showed signs of flowering, although the blossoming starts faster, according to my observations.
Plant # 01, I did not clone because of the slowest start of flowering and the poor structure of the lateral branches.
---

I will say right away that I was very fortunate. Since of the 3 seeds, the Neville's haze variety, three plants with different phenotypes have grown. That is, if you believe the Internet resource en.seedfinder.eu, then I was lucky to see all the 3-type phenotype of Neville's haze from GHS together, namely (information with the above resource):

Phenotype No. 1: long, stretched, fast blooming, sativa-dominant;

Phenotype No. 2: long, stretched, slow blooming, sativa-dominant;

Phenotype No. 3: long, compact, slow blooming, indica-dominant.

Plant # 01 stopped growing from the beginning of flowering.
And besides, the plant has the slowest start of flowering.

The lower branches of plants # 02 and # 03 were "stretched" so that they did not overlap the light.

By the way, it was noticed that wild bees quite often fly around plants # 02 and # 03 - apparently they are attracted by a sweetish aroma emanating from plants during flowering.

Concentration of fertilizers has not changed and so far remains the same.

18 September 2018.

There was a golden autumn (Indian summer).

WP_20180918_18_41_33_Pro.1.thumb.jpg.c6d009115c119b671f00221007e07e05.jpg

Daytime air temperature in the area t + 20 ° C, at night is cooler than t + 7 ... + 10 ° C. Early in the morning, often all clouded by fog - it is visible as droplets of water soar in the air. Humidity is different and can fluctuate around 30% ... 100%.
---

By the way, I already had one very late season, in 2015.
Being engaged, at that perfect time, by one selection project, tested seeds of a sort Blueberry, late F6 generation (genetics Dutch Passion).
Crossing, before the F5 generation was conducted, "according to one common characteristic" - the original Blueberry phenotype from DP, and the phenotype was really good in its time.
To obtain seeds of the F6 generation, plants of sativa-dominant phenotype with the main common features were chosen ...

Closer to the point.

So, among the plants of the Blueberry F6 generation, one interesting specimen was discovered: a sativa-dominant phenotype, with a distinctive feature - late flowering. The plant has fully matured in 10 weeks - closer to the middle of November.

5ba190b3aacec_B.BerryF610wks_2015_november_13.thumb.jpg.604ac4b0a2b083bf0fef5220c1aa12e0.jpg

The photo was taken before harvest (November 13, 2015).
Everything depends entirely on the weather, if it allows, Neville's haze plants will be able to stand just like the Blueberry F6 in 2015 - which would be just fine.

Neville's haze plant # 01

Age: the 150th day;
Flowering: 14th day;
Height: 115 cm;
Over the past week, plant # 01 has grown by 1 centimeter.

"Indica-dominant phenotype with slow flowering".

You can say - the perfect phenotype of Neville's haze from GHS for the room. The plant will not grow very much, except in width, but at the beginning of flowering, in general, beauty - there is no growth in the stalk, like plants with sativa-dominant phenotypes. Although of course, with all this, there is one significant minus - a slow flowering.

Neville's haze plant # 02

Age: the 150th day;
Flowering: 28th day;
Height: 165 cm;
The increase over the past week is: +5.5 cm, ~ 0.8 cm per day - the plant slows growth.
The phenotype of plant # 02, especially now, during flowering, is very similar to the classic Mexican marijuana phenotype, "one of the parents" of Neville's haze.

5ba196d715af2_mexi(2).jpg.b2e3d8568ed62ee53d23d15fd8fc0d02.jpg

If it is true, the genetics of the Mexican variety is dominant in plant # 02, it is not at all surprising that the signs of the beginning of flowering were discovered so early - on August 19.

Neville's haze plant # 03

Age: 150 days;
Flowering: 14th day;
Height: 158 cm;
The increase over the past week is: +10.5 cm, 1.5 cm per day.
---

The lower branches of plant # 01 were "stretched" so that they did not overlap the light. In contrast to the same "training" with plants # 02 and # 03, with plant # 01 it was necessary to tinker - it was too thickened with second-order branches, which were naturally circumcised. Not all, there are only those who have a place under the sun.
---
It is probably unusual to see such a slow flowering in marijuana, especially those who constantly grow the indica-dominant or generally auto-flowering varieties.
But what is, that is - this is how all three phenotypes of Neville's haze blossom from GHS on the 44th latitude in the Primorsky Krai.
As you probably already understood, waiting for miracles from plants # 01 and # 03 is not worth it. Theoretically, if you grow such a phenotype as in plant # 03 on the street through clones, then the blossoming for 2-3 weeks, it is possible and will allow the plant to mature normally, naturally for the 44th latitude.
The phenotype of plant # 01 has a very slow flowering (for 44th latitude), although it is indicative dominant. So if you grow such a phenotype on the 44th latitude, then at least for this you need a heated greenhouse.
---
Superphosphate is over. Now the composition and concentration are (per 1 liter of pure water): sodium humate - 0.3 ml, oak ash - 1 tablespoon.

Last week, "fed" plants a couple of times: nitric acid 0.3 ml / 1 liter of water, oak ash 1-2 tablespoons / 1 liter of water. I will not give any more ash.
Now, as a food, for plants, only nitrogen humate will be used - 0.3 ml / 1 liter of water. Watering will be 4 times a week.
Little by little and more often - is not the most important principle of sativa fertilization during the flowering period.

To increase microbial activity in the soil, a product of natural fermentation (without yeast and anything else) made solely from melon fruits will be used, which in turn has grown without the use of any fertilizers.

I already used melon in 2013 when growing Ed Rosenthal Super Buds, and then I noticed that "fluff" appears on the soil within 24 hours after the application.

October 2, 2018.

Since it is not known whether the weather will allow to “come in” in November, then we can consider October as the last segment before the finish.
The beginning of October is a great time to finally be convinced of the potential of plants, their phenotypes, at the 44th latitude.
Plant # 02 showed signs of flowering before the others and everything is clear with it - it is fit. Plant # 03 was pleasantly surprised - although the signs of flowering were found later than those of plant # 02, but the “start of flowering” itself was faster. And besides, it is worth noting that the plant # 03 exudes a wonderful smell of freshly picked blackberries. It seems that the smell in plant # 03 is final, because in the last three weeks of flowering, the smell has not changed, but has only become stronger.
As expected, plant # 01, with its very strange, slowly flowering, indica-dominant phenotype, is completely incapable of adequate flowering at a given latitude (44°N).
I see no one reason to continue growing the plant # 01 with the useless phenotype (for open ground at the 44th latitude).
October 2, will be the last photos of the plant # 01, as it will be dug out as useless. This has already been decided. Leaves will not be wasted. Cooked greens "ganja tea".
Well, the plants # 02 and # 03 will stand to the bitter end.
Just in case (anything can happen), cut a few more branches from the plants # 02 and # 03 on the clones.
The place is only for four plants, but most likely I will leave one clone (I will choose the best ones) from plants # 02 and # 03, and only then I will clone them. 2 plants will be able to stay in the box for a long period, under an esl lamp and with air ventilation, without constraining each other.

P.S.
Having dug out the plant # 01, I was surprised by such a small root, and when pruning the side branches I noticed that they are soft - they are very easy to cut.

WP_20181003_18_52_59_Pro.1.thumb.jpg.7b20db5627a0b4f3ab55d8671786aed6.jpgWP_20181003_18_53_18_Pro.1.thumb.jpg.524b8b7b1055f49f7c7ff226615c34d8.jpgWP_20181003_18_53_36_Pro.1.thumb.jpg.94ffa6b2aa53f6ae3be18c32dff232e5.jpgWP_20181003_18_53_53_Pro.1.thumb.jpg.635b9f7646f29e1e8ce427391217b60e.jpg

Opened the central stem of the plant to look at the state inside.
It seems that the plant was sick and it happened, according to my observations, it was after the rainy season - at first the plant stopped growing completely, but after that, it even began to grow very slowly 1 cm in a week. It became noticeable that the plant behaves strangely.
The reason for the lag in growth and flowering from the rest of the plants is the disease that was provoked (during the rainy season) by the overmoistening of the soil.
I did the right thing when I dug up a plant # 01.

Good day, fans of pure sativa, well, almost pure sativa.

October 9, 2018.

Immediately about the main thing. From the 4th of October, the active formation of trichomes began. Interestingly, the plants have different phenotypes and started flowering with a difference of a week, but here is the start of the formation of trichome, both plants, occurred at the same time. It's time to give the plants something serious in terms of nutrition. Why not use fermented chicken shit. We had to wait for quite a while until the fresh shit was completely fermented and the nitrogen content would drop to the minimum possible. Unlike fresh - ripe chicken shit has a very faint odor, which is good news.

WP_20181010_14_22_58_Pro.thumb.jpg.1eb368c7548f933d556e64819b0aab87.jpg

Chicken shit is disinfected by means of "phytosporin-m".

WP_20181010_14_21_43_Pro.thumb.jpg.ab46befe8389028b0afc3f36d7888c94.jpg

A mixture of water-based, which is used from the 4th of October: 6 liters of pure water + 200 milliliters of fermented chicken shit. Mixture consumption on 1 plant - 6 liters. Watering - 2 times a week. Also, I will continue to water the plants with an aqueous solution of fermented melon: 6 liters of pure water + 400 milliliters of fermented melon. Consumption - 6 liters per 1 plant. Watering chicken droppings and melons will occur on different days. By the way, in our Primorsky Krai, where I live, there are bats. Theoretically, you can find a place where they sleep and collect guano, which would be very good. But to find such a place does not work.

OG.Naj, thanks :hi: !

I myself try to do at home fertilizer for plants :umnik: . Only as a last resort I buy something in the store :scratchhead: . I have been doing this for 6 years now and for now I am satisfied with everything :biggrin: .

How things will be in the future - time will tell :beach: .

October 16, 2018.

The first half of October is behind - the last warm period remains. Already, in the daytime, the air warms up in the region of + 10 ... + 15 ° С. Cool nights are in the order of things 0 ... + 5 ° C. Up to 0 ° C, the temperature drops during dawn and lasts for one hour, approximately from 05:30 to 06:30, then begins to warm.

Precipitation, in the form of rain (the first snow is possible only from the second half of November, when in the morning hours there will be a stable negative temperature of -2 ... -3 ° C), falls rarely. Humidity in the region of 25 ... 85%.

In the morning of October 16, the cranes flew south to wintering.

g22, thanks and no need to apologize. You wrote it all right :good:.
Let me explain what the essence of the matter is.
The climate peculiarity of Primorsky Krai is such that during the rainy season the average daily temperature drops and lasts for about a month. After the rainy season, the leaves on the trees are beginning to turn yellow. And in fact - it becomes really warmer.
This is the golden autumn in Primorsky Krai.
Here, even the climate is unusual in that during the warm period it is monsoon, and in the cold continental. Temperature difference, colossal: in mid-January to -47 ° C, and in mid-July to + 45 ° C ...
This is Russia, everything is unusual here, not just the climatic features in a particular region.
