Jack Herer & Passion #1 - Completed

This morning the dirt in the root pouches was dry and they all felt nice and light so I gave each plant 2 litres of water straight from the tap and 2 litres of water that had been stood in plastic lemonade bottles for a couple of days so that each plant got 4 litres of clean water to flush through the dirt in their root pouches.

So once the dirt in their root pouches dries out again in a few days I will give them their first taste of the flowering nutrients, the Jack Herer will get the hybrid nutrient and the Passion #1 will get the short flower nutrient plus a little bit of calcium due to the soft water here where I live.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Time for a progress update at the end of week 2 of flowering.

All of the plants are growing and seem to be still stretching and quietly growing taller.

Jack Herer #1 is now 35cm tall that is 4cm since Wednesday.
Jack Herer #2 is now 34cm tall that is 3cm since Wednesday.
Jack Herer #3 is now 47cm tall that is 11cm since Wednesday.
Passion #1 is now 31cm tall that is 3cm since Wednesday.

Here are some images of the plants I took yesterday afternoon.

As you can see Jack Here #1 and two have clearly started to produce flowers Jack Herer #3 is a few days behind and just getting started and the Passion #1 is producing flowers which look more advanced than the flowers on the 2 slightly older Jack Herer plants.

The Passion #1 is a hurry she has a 6 week flowering period so she will definitely finish before the 3 Jack Herer.

I had not thought about the beanie LED's on the dehumidifier in the grow tent during the night, thanks to OG.Naj for pointing it out, so now I have a couple of pieces of electrical tape I use to cover the lights just before the LED goes off in the evening.

This morning the dirt in the root pouches was dry and they felt quite light so I fed and watered them all.

I mixed 4ml per litre Plant magic root stimulant, 0.8g GHF calcium per litre, 0.8g GHF short flower nutrient per litre and 0.8g per litre of the GHF hybrid flowering nutrient, in total I mixed 4 litres.

Plant Magic and Green House Feed nutrients and additives.

Feed solution ready to go.

I then placed each plant in the shower cubicle and then I gave then 1.5 litres of the feed solution and then I placed them back inside the grow tent under the LED to carry on soaking up the light.

All of the plants back in the tent after feeding and watering.

In the next few days I will remove the stalks at the very bottom of the main stalks and tie down stalks as required to tidy up the plants and open the up to help light penetrate the plants.

More updates to follow soon, happy growing...  :pleasantry:

This morning the dirt in the root pouches was nice and dry and they looked ready for a drink.

Yesterday I noticed what I think is a bit of nutrient burn on the fan leaves on the Passion #1

So I gave the 3 Jack Herer plants 2 litres of water and then I gave the Passion #1 4 litres of water to flush her dirt I think the nutrient mix was just a bit strong for her, so when her dirt dries I will giver her a mild feed.

The Jack Herer all seem happy and healthy and quietly building buds.

Here are some images I took just before I watered the plants this morning.

Over the next couple of days I will defoliate and tidy up the bottoms of the plants I got busy and forgot to do it yesterday I was busy with work researching and resolving an issue and lost track of time.

I am not worried about what I am thinking is a bit of nutrient burn with the Passion #1 because it hasn't sizzled the fan leaves so giving her a flush should do the trick then I will just give her a mild feed going forward.

I have a date for the surgery to remove the broken metal plate from my leg I am well pleased. after reading the letter from the hospital I had a nice fat spliff of Sweet Valley Kush to celebrate.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Time for a progress update at the end of week 3 and start of week 4 of flowering.

All 4 plants seem to be healthy and grwing well and the Passion #1 seems to be OK after flushing the dirt in her root pouch, on Friday afternoon I defoliated all of the plants to open the up and allow better light penetration.

I first removed all of the main fan leaves at each node on the main stalk and then I removed the smallest stalks at the bottom of the main stalks where they were small so the plants do not waste energy on them.

Yesterday the dirt in the root pouches was dry and they felt nice and light and they were ready for a drink and a feed.

I mixed 0.7g per litre of the short flower powder feed and 0.2g per litre of the powder feed booster, I mixed 2 litres of the feed solution and then gave 1.5 litres to the Passion #1. I decided to play safe and not give her any calcium.

I mixed 1g per litre of powder feed calcium, 0.7g per litre of the hybrid powder feed and 0.4g per litre of the powder feed booster, in total I mixed 3 litres and then I gave each of the Jack Herer plants 1.5 litres of the feed solution.

After feeding and waterign each plant I put them back into the grow tent under the LED.

Here are some images of the plants I took just before I watered and fed them all.

The plants have all continued to stretch and grow taller.

Jack Herer #1 = 42cm = 7cm taller in 7 days
Jack Herer #2 = 38cm = 4cm taller in 7 days
Jack Herer #3 = 60cm = 13cm taller in 7 days
Passion #1 = 35cm = 4cm taller in 7 days

Average temperature in the tent in the day is 25C to 29C and the average night time temp is 19C the average day time humidity is around 45% to 50% this does spike to 60% to 70% after watering and feeding.

I make sure to leave the tent door unzipped after watering and feeding to avoid massive spikes in humidity even with the dehumidifier in the tent it still happens because the dehumidifier is not very powerful otherwise it would probably easily deal with spikes in humidity and maintain an even humidity more easily.

But it would consume more power, there is always a trade off, so for me just increasing airflow helps me to smooth out any spikes in humidity and keep the environment as consistent as possible.

Just busted a spliff of Sweet Valley Kush an feeling red, checkin some Bob Dylan tunes, I hope everyone is taking it easy an enjoying their day too... :smoke:

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

I noticed you mentioned that you had some problems germinating Jack Herer beans I also had problems at the start of this run I have popped a few autos and not had problems, but this time it looked like I was drowning them getting them wet, I went through a pack of 10 beans and only germinated 3 of them I popped the Passion #1 to fill the tent.

He hee @gasmeter,

Your Jack #3 is the taller one and the more sativa one, i think that you will find some good thing out this pheno. Form me Jack Herrer is more a sativ plant with good strech that the twos other pheno you have. I remember that Franco and Arjan say that we can find many variation in the S JH GreenHouse seeds sell. It is not a stable strain but if you find the good one i think that you have a little pearl in your hands. Hope this one is the #3.

The #1 and #2 look like more indica short dominant pheno...

What can you say about the smell of the 3 JH pheno?

Your Passion#1 look amazing too, what a beautifull purple color contrasted with the white trichomes! I can smell already the candy purple odor from here!

Nice update!.

Keep it strong!

@OG.Naj yes that Jack Herer #3 has really stretched compared with #1 and #2 its like me tall an skinny, man mawga... :D

Good question about the smell at the moment the Jack Herer smell earthy and herby no perfume thing yet, the smell from JH#1 is not as strong as JH#1 and JH#2 yet.

The smell of the Passion #1 is piney with a sort of subtle earthy background to the smell.

Time for a late progress update, things got a bit hectic there I needed to deal with a shit load of jobs.

End of week 4 and start of week 5 of flowering period.

I think that I over did it with the nutrients slightly on the last feed, so when the dirt on the root pouches was dry on Sunday and they were visibly ready for a drink I gave all of the plants 4 litres of water to flush the dirt.

On the last feed I gave them the amount stated in the feed schedule and since I noticed they look quite dark green and JH#3 has some damage to some fan leaves and a few have gone yellow, so when the dirt dries out in the root pouches in the next couple of days I will give them a mild feed.

They were obviously border line on the nutrient lockout, since I flushed they have just carried on building bud, I will stay back from the recommended amount in the feed schedule, plus there are only a couple of weeks left for feeding now and in the schedule the amount of feed does keep reducing towards the the end of flowering.

Here are some images I took yesterday afternoon.

The plants seem to be slowing down growing taller now since I last measured them on the 02/02/2020 just over a week ago.

Jack Herer #1 45cm tall up 3cm
Jack Herer #2 40cm tall up 2cm
Jack Herer #3 64cm tall up 4cm
Passion #1 36cm tall up 1cm

Grow tent stats.

Max temp = 30.4C
Min temp =19.8C
Max humidity = 83%
Min humidity = 35%

The average temperature during the day is between 26C and 29C and during the night 19C to 20C

The average humidity during the day is around 40% to 55% when the dirt int he root pouches is dry this is where it get below 40% during the night the humidity is around 55% to 60% the maximum humidity spike is always happens after watering when the dirt in the root pouches is saturated.

With me watering early in the day it minimises the impact I can leave the tent door unzipped and open the widow to increase air flow and help to reduce humidity and smooth out those upwards spikes in humidity.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Now that the strain test has been cancelled I am wondering what beans to germinate next I am thinking 2 Exodus Cheese and 2 GH Cheese

As I was giving this a coat of thinking today I was looking at the GHS store and on the new version when you go to the page for a particular strain the correct feed is no longer displayed, this was a really useful thing I only noticed it when I was working out what strains to choose for my prize in the 3rd Mega contest.

Fortunately I have a seed catalogue and the strains are grouped together so it is easy to work out what powder feed they require, but the Strain Hunters strains have their own catalogue and I do not have one I lost mine, and on the store it is not obvious what powder feed should be used with them.

Also with strains that have OG at the front of their names like OG Kush what is OG short for?

Yesterday the dirt in the root pouches was dry and they felt nice and light so I mixed 0.5g per litre of short flower feed and 0.4g per litre of booster to make up 2 litres of the feed solution.

I then mixed 0.6g per litre of the hybrid powder feed and 0.4g per litre of the booster.

I gave the Passion #1 plant 2 litres of the short flower and booster feed solution and then I gave the Jack Herer plants 2 litres of the hybrid and booster feed solution and then I put them back into the grow tent under the LED.

When the dirt dries out again over the weekend I will just give them 2 litres of water each.

More updates to follow, happy growing... :pleasantry:
