Here is the info about the grow kit and nutrients I will be using. Tent Mars Hydro 70cm X 70cm X 160cm Grow Light Mars II 400 LED The grow light is the equivalent to a 250W HPS. Strains 2 X Exodus Cheese = Green House Seeds 2 X Green House Cheese = Green House Seeds All of the seeds are feminised. Growing Medium BioBizz All Mix The soil has been used once then stored in a bag for over 3 months. Pots 3 inch and 4 inch plastic pots (seedlings/young plants). Root Pouch fibre pots 12 litre. Plant Feed Green House powder feeding mineral nutrients and additives. Grow N-P-K-Mg: 24-6-12(1.2) Designed specifically for the vegetative growth stage of all plants. Its formula provides optimum development throughout the growth-stage to obtain greener, stronger and more resistant plants. Grow faster, greener and more vigorous than ever. gasmeter Posted March 26, 2020 Author Share Posted March 26, 2020 Wednesday 18 March 2020 I was going to wait until after having surgery on my leg and start my next grow at the start of April, but now my surgery has been cancelled due to Covid-19 virus its time to pop some beans and get the next run started. To start the germination process I put water that had been stood in lemonade bottles for a few days into two small drinking glasses then I made labels and stuck them onto each glass, then I places 2 X Exodus Cheese beans and 2 X Green House Cheese beans into each glass of water to soak for 4 hours. After four hours the larger of the 2 X Green House Cheese beans had sunk to the bottom of the glass but all the other beans were still floating on the surface of the water. I then placed two folded pieces of kitchen roll in a plastic container and then I placed labels on the side of the container so I know which beans are which, then I dripped water on them to make the kitchen roll nice and damp. Then I took the beans out of the drinking glasses and put them between the damp kitchen roll and placed the lid on the container and placed it in a drawer with a hand towel over the container to ensure complete darkness. gasmeter Posted March 26, 2020 Author Share Posted March 26, 2020 Sunday 22 March 2020 Two days later Friday 20th March both the Exodus Cheese beans casings had split and one of the Green House Cheese beans the larger of the two beans, and all 3 had tap roots growing out of the seed cases, but the smaller bean had not cracked its seed case. I left them in between the damp kitchen roll for another 2 days to give the second Green House Cheese bean a chance to germinate, but it looked like it was dead an done. The tap roots of the other 3 beans were now quite long and were growing nicely. So on Sunday 22nd March I put them into Root It sponge plugs and put them under the flourescent strip light in the cupboard. I then placed another Green House Cheese bean between the damp kitchen roll with the dead looking bean. If both do germinate I will use what appears to be the most vigorous of the two. So I prepared a new Root It spong and then placed her into the sponge plug. Then I put her with the other three seedlings under the flourescent tube. All 4 seedlings under the flourescent tube. This morning at 7.30am I switched off the flourescent tube to give them their first dark period and get then onto an 18/6 photoperiod. Unfortunately I am a bumboclatt and forgot to switch the flourescent tube on again at 13.30pm I took the dog for a walk and it was 15.30pm when I remembered and switched the flourescent tube on again. Tomorrow I won't make the same mistake, I will leave the seedlings as they are for a couple more days to give the 2nd Green House Cheese seedling to throw some roots before I pot them in little 3 inch plastic pots. gasmeter Posted March 27, 2020 Author Share Posted March 27, 2020 This morning after my alarm woke me at 06.30am I gave each seedling a few mls of water to keep their sponge plugs nice and damp. Then I swithed off the flourescent tube so they have a dark period, I will switch it back on again at 12.30pm so they get 6 hours of darkness so their photperiod is 18/6 Happy growing... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

gasmeter Posted March 30, 2020 Author Share Posted March 30, 2020 Yes the flourescent tube is fixed to the wall in a little cupboard next to my tent, so it is not possible to put it on a timer. Hence I switch it off first thing at 06.30am when I get up and switch it on at 12.30pm lunch time this way I am up and within a couple of days I am in a little routine. I could pop them into the tent during the day, but now I have the LED 12 inches above the top of Jack Herer #3 I would need to make a little platform to raise them up nearer the LED So the flourescent tube in the cupboard does the job until the tent is clear in a week or so. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yesterday I decided that it was time to pot the seedlings so I prepared 4 four little 3 inch plastic plant pots and filled them with dirt, then I planted the seedlings into the dirt in their root plugs. Then I gave each seedling 10ml of water and put the plastic pots under the flourescent tube. Here are some images I took. The seedlings are growing OK under the flourescent tube, one of the 2 Green House Cheese seedlings has some leaf damage to the first set of true leaves I think it was a bit of over watering, but she seems to be getting past it and throwing the next set of leaves. All the Cheese seedlings side view. All the Cheese seedlings top view if you view the image full size you can see the seedling second left with damaged leaves. All of the Cheese seedlings back under the fluorescent tube. The seedlings are still on an 18/6 photoperiod under the fluorescent tube their night is from 6.30am until 12.30pm lunch time, once I harvest Jack Herer #3 in a few days they can go into the grow tent under the LED to soak up some quality rays. At 12.30pm I switched the fluorescent tube on again and started their day, the last of the Jack Herer from the last run was ready to harvest, so I cut her and trimmed and hung the bud on the stalks to dry. Then I mixed 0.6g per litre of the grow powder feed, then I moved the seedlings from under the fluorescent tube into the grow tent under the LED which I had lowered to the right height above the seedlings about 20 inches. Green House grow powder feed and 1 litre of water. All the Cheese seedlings in the grow tent under the LED. Seedlings in tent close up I then gave all four seedlings about 50ml of the feed solution their first proper feed, when their dirt dries I will give them water and alternate feeds to avoid nutrients building up in the dirt. I also reset the timer so their night starts at 00.30am or half past midnight if your not familiar with the 24 hour clock, then their day starts at 06.30am More updates to follow, happy growing... 5 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

All of the plants are growing nicely and making new nodes, the two Exodus Cheese seedlings are now 7 & 8cm tall and the two Green House Cheese are now 6 & 7cm tall. This morning the dirt in the plastic pots was nice and dry so I gave them all about 100ml of water. Here are some images I took of the plants yesterday afternoon. All of the seedlings were ready for a drink and a feed so I gave them about 100ml of the powder feed mix solution from last week. Next time the dirt in their plastic pots dries out I will give them all just water. All of the seedlings are growing nicely and producing new nodes. So I gave each plant about 140ml of water each and then put them back into the tent under the LED to soak up the rays. As soon as the dirt in their pots dries out again I will water and feed them, probably in 2 or 3 days time. gasmeter Posted April 19, 2020 Author Share Posted April 19, 2020 Time for a weekly update on the 4 young Cheese plants. All of the plants are growing OK, but after I watered them on Thursday the following day Friday I could see that they all seem to have a nitrogen deficiency lower fan leaves are fading on all the plants. This dirt has been used 3 times already so it is obviously pretty spent nutrient wise, so I will have to feed them every time I water them to mitigate this and keep the plants healthy during veg and flowering. That said I can either use the new bag of dirt or order some more preferably the light mix this time, at the moment it is still out of stock on the Growell online store, but they do have All Mix in stock, so I need to weigh up my options. Yesterday morning the dirt in their plastic pots was nice and dry and they felt light, so I mixed 0.6g per litre of grow powder feed, 3ml per litre of Plant Magic root stimulant and 0.3g per litre of calcium powder additive. I mixed a 1 litre solution of the feed mix and then I gave each plant 180ml of the feed solution, next time the dirt dries in a couple of days I will give them all 220ml of feed solution and quietly increase the amount as the plants get bigger. Here are some images I took yesterday. All of the Cheese plants in the grow tent under the LED. Green House powder feed and Calcium additive and Plant Magic root stimulant. Exodus Cheese plants. Green House Cheese plants. The 2 X Exodus Cheese seem to be the most vigorous in growth one is 12cm tall and the other is 10cm tall, the 2 X Green House Cheese are now 9cm and 8cm tall so not far behind at this point. Cannabissapean Posted April 20, 2020 Share Posted April 20, 2020 Gasmeter, you are the master of your garden. I tend to agree with your stated option of up-potting them to fresher soil. That, moreso than upping the Nitrogen at this point. Here's why: 1. In some of those photos above, I can see a little bit of "clawing" (the tips of the leaves curling downward). "Clawing" is usually associated with having too much nitrogen. 2. Even though the lower leaves are yellowing, it appears that the "new-growth leaves" are a healthy green color, thus indicating that there is sufficient nitrogen for them. 3. It could be that built-up salts or other nutrient imbalances might be the cause of the yellowing (you admitted to 3 uses of this soil). Therefore, if it were me, I would not want to risk damaging the plants with an unintentional overdose of nitrogen, rather, I believe your option of up-potting these plants (rootballs with the existing soil) into a larger pot with a fresher mix of soil is the safer thing to do. Your plants look big enough. I think they will respond nicely. I would recommend doing that even if you have already given them a drink of N-laced water. The fresh soil should go a long way to re-balance the system, regardless whether the imbalance is nitrogen or some other problem... 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Then I gave each plant about 250ml each of the feed solution then I put them back into the grow tent under the LED. Yesterday I emailed used the mail form on the Growell Hydroponics to ask when they would have some more BioBizz Light Mix in stock and this morning I got a reply to let me know that it is now in stock again. This afternoon I came to check the forum and read the advice in the comment left by @Cannabissapean so I logged into my account on the Growell Hydroponics web site and ordered 40 litres of Light Mix. Then I got a bucket and took the baby Cheese plants outside to the shed and repotted them all using the Tropic Mix I got last week. You can find more information about the Tropic Mix here https://www.growell.co.uk/growing-media/soil/tropic-mix.html Then I passed 1 litre of water throught the dirt to flush it and then I put the plants back into the grow tent under the LED. As you say @Cannabissapean the new growth at the top of the plants all looks healthy so the fresh soil should rebalance things. Hopefully over the next few days the plants will adjust to the fresh soil and we will have cool runnings.
