Thursday 25th of February 2021

The Root Riot sponge plugs were delivered at lunch time so this evening I started to germinate 4 of the Kings Juice beans.

This morning at 06.30am when I got up I checked on the 4 Kings Juice beans and there was no change.

Tonight when I checked on the beans they had all cracked their shell cases and their tap roots were poking out. 😀

26feb-2021-kj-beans-germinated.thumb.jpg.e50175f499141cabf948d99eef1149c8.jpg

I put them back into the drawer in the dark to let the tap roots continue growing as soon as they are a bit longer I will put them into Root Riot sponge plugs and put them under the fluorescent tube in the cupboard.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Yesterday morning at 06.30am when I got up I checked on the Kings Juice beans using a magnifying class and all the tap roots were poking out of the shell casings by about 3 or 4cm, so I covered them with the damp kitchen roll can put them back into the drawer in the dark for the rest of the day.

When I came home after work I had something to eat and then I check on the Kings Juice beans and the tap roots were about 1cm long, so I got 4 of the Root Riot sponge plugs and 4 little white plastic pots they sit in, then I used scissors to split the sponge plugs down one side.

Then I took the freshly germinated Kings Juice beans out of the drawer in the plastic container and then I opened the container and peeled back the damp kitchen roll to expose the germinated beans, then using tweezers I very carefully took a sponge plug splayed it open and placed a freshly germinated bean inside the sponge plug with the shell case just below the surface of the plug.

Then I placed the plug into its little white plastic pot and repeated this until I have put all of the Kings Juice beans into their sponge plugs and then I filled a 10ml syringe with water and shared it between the 4 sponge plugs to make the nice and damp.

Then I sat all four little white pots and sponge plugs in the plastic container and then perched the container directly under the fluorescent tube in the cupboard next to my grow tent as close to the tube as possible, and I left them over night.

Here are some images I took of the process.

Freshly germinated Kings Juice beans with tap roots long enough to go into Root Riot sponge plugs.

This morning at 06.30am when my alarm went off and I got up I used a 16 litre root pouch to cover them to start their 18/6 photoperiod.

Then at 12.30pm I lifted the 16 litre root pouch off the Kings Juice beans in the sponge plugs, they still haven't come earth strong and grown above the sponges top surface yet, hopefully by tomorrow morning they will be earth strong.

This morning at 06.30am when I got up I checked on the Kings Juice seedlings and 3 of them were earth strong, they had grown past the surface of the sponge plugs, but the shell case of the third was still below the surface of the sponge plug.

01mar-2021-kj-3-seedlings-morning.thumb.jpg.886752adadbba4ba621f22a6cae90d78.jpg

So I gave them all about 3ml of water and root stimulant and then I covered them with a 16 litre root pouch to start their night.

At 12.30pm when the root pouch was removed and the Kings Juice girls were woken up the fourth seedling had come earth strong and had grown past the sponge plugs surface, the seedlings spent the rest of the day under the fluorescent tube.

When I got home from work and checked on them at about 17.30pm the third seedling was catching up with the other 3 seedlings in height, it still had its little helmet on so I gently teased it off and then I gave each of the seedlings 3ml of water and root stimulant.

01mar-2021-kj-seedlings-night.thumb.jpg.44ecaf62dbf467fb1470077e277f75cf.jpg

After giving them some water and root stimulant I put them back under the fluorescent tube to continue soaking up the rays.

I am well pleased with the seedlings they are quite vigorous and seem to have a lust for life.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Time for a progress update on the 4 Kings Juice seedlings at the end of week 1 of veg.

The seedlings are on an 18/6 photoperiod under the fluorescent tube in the cupboard next to the grow tent.

I kept the young seedlings in the Root Riot sponge plugs all week and each morning at 06.30am I gave them 3ml of water and root stimulant and then I covered them with a black 16 litre root pouch until 12.30pm then they go back under the fluorescent tube for the rest of the day to soak up some rays.

07mar-2021-kj-seedlings-root-plugs.thumb.jpg.258849ee279e51e40bde4bd896a68089.jpg

Every couple of days I have lifted the sponge plug out of the little white pot to check on the growth of the roots, by yesterday the little roots on each seedling were poking out of the sponge plugs.

07mar-2021-kj-seedlings-roots.thumb.jpg.1565908d5fbe03d382a28e0c4d956c92.jpg

So I decided that it was time to get them all into little 4 inch plastic plant pots in some BioBizz Lite Mix after planting the seedlings I gave each of the 120ml of the weak solution of water and root stimulant to water them into the dirt.

07mar-2021-kj-seedlings-potted.thumb.jpg.3c55a9472279b7c94993bae018884b28.jpg

An important tip when potting the seedlings in the dirt I do not press the dirt down into the pots I just tap and bump the pot to settle the dirt, this means that it will be a lot easier for the roots to penetrate the dirt and conquer the pot.

And the roots will be healthier and this means your plant or plants will be healthier, even when I repot into the 12 litre root pouches I will just tap them and bump the base on the floor to help the dirt settle rather than pressing the dirt down into the pouch, it really does make a huge difference to the health of the plants.

After I potted the plants and gave them a drink I put them back under the fluorescent tube.

07mar-2021-kj-seedlings-fluro.thumb.jpg.5c79ee13b0681b4d855a0377199fbf5f.jpg

All 4 of the Kings Juice seedlings had stretched a bit so I buried most of the stems when I potted them now I can keep them close to the fluorescent tube as they continue to veg and hopefully keep the nodes close together.

Time for a progress update on the 4 Kings Juice seedlings at the end of week 2 and start of week 3 of the veg period.

The plants are still on an 18/6 photoperiod under the fluorescent tube in the cupboard next to the grow tent.

Today the dirt in the little plastic pots was dry so this afternoon I gave each of the seedlings 180ml of a weak solution of root stimulant and then I put them all back under the fluorescent tube.

They are thriving and growing well they are now growing the 4th node, next week I will start to give them a mild feed solution once they are a bit bigger and able to use the nutrients.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Time for a progress update on the 4 Kings Juice plants at the end of week 3 and start of week 4 of the veg period.

The girls are growing well vegging under the fluorescent tube in the cupboard next to the grow tent and getting bigger.

Here are some photos of the girls I took this afternoon.

I noticed the leaf above early this week, only one plant has done this, after I took the photos of the plants I watered and fed them I mixed 1/2 ml of grow feed with 500ml of the water and root solution I have been using, then I gave each plant 150ml of the solution.

The plants are doing OK under the fluorescent tube for the moment not long to go before they go under the LED in the grow tent.

Time for a progress update on the 4 Kings Juice plants at the end of week 4 and start of week 5 of the veg period.

All of the Kings Juice girls are growing well and they have increased in height over the past week and there is a big gap between nodes.

Yesterday when I woke them up at 12.30pm I gave each plant 200ml of water and root stimulant.

I have now harvested all 4 of The Doctor plants so the Kings Juice girls now have the grow tent to themselves.

Here are a couple of images of the girls that I took yesterday after I moved them into the grow tent under the LED.

29mar-2021-kj-plants-grow-tent.thumb.jpg.e6fd7a2e1c8b1f9c7d62583f30e0984b.jpg

Tonight I emptied the dirt out of the root pouches that The Doctor plants grew in and then I pressure washed them and put them in the shed to dry out ready for when I repot the plants in the next couple of days.

I will also top them as well and let them continue vegging as they recover from being topped, then I will flower them.

They have certainly grown in height this week and as I mentioned the gaps between nodes are huge, so I need to get them into flower as soon as possible if they are going to triple in height when they stretch.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Time for a quick progress update on the 4 Kings Juice girls.

On Monday evening I emptied the dirt out of the root pouches and washed them all using the pressure washer with the lance for washing the car then I put them in the shed over night.

Yesterday morning before I went to work I hung the root pouches up on the brackets for some hanging baskets in the back yard so they would dry out during the day and when I got home at 17.30pm they were nice and dry and ready to be used again.

This morning I re-potted the plants into the root pouches from their 4 inch plastic pots, I added a big table spoon of Plant Magic Oldtimer root granules to the hole in the dirt.

I removed the cotyledons and the first true leaves and buried the stem a couple of inches below the second node, to reduce their height and even out the canopy.

Then I mixed 3ml per litre of root stimulant and mixed 2 litres of the solution and then I gave each plant 400mls of the solution and then I topped each plant at the fifth node leaving three nodes.

Here are some photos of the process.

On a couple of the plants they have some battle damage where a couple of fan leaves are damaged because the plants got a bit too dry, but it is not a problem they should soon recover now they are in their root pouches.

More updates to follow soon, happy growing... :pleasantry:

Time for a quick progress update on the 4 Kings Juice girls at the end of week 5 and start of week 6 of the veg period.

All of the plants have recovered from being topped and are now growing well.

On Friday the dirt n the root pouches looked dry so I gave all of the plants 500ml of water.

This morning the dirt in the root pouches looked dry so I mixed 3ml per litre of Plant Magic root stimulant and 2ml per litre of the Plant Magic Oldtimer organic grow feed, I mixed 4 litres of the feed solution then I gave each plant 800ml of the feed solution.

Here are some images of the plants.

Happy growing... :pleasantry:

Time for a quick progress update on the 4 Kings Juice girls at the end of week 6 and start of week 7 of the veg period.

On Wednesday the dirt on the root pouches was dry and they felt light so I gave each plant 1 litre of water.

On Saturday morning the dirt in the root pouches was dry again so I mixed 3ml per litre of root stimulant and 3ml per litre of the grow feed I mixed 4 litres of the feed solution and then I gave each plant 1 litre of the solution.

Here are some images I took this afternoon.

On Thursday morning I noticed a few leaves had some marks on them and I was wondering what was causing it, then this morning I realised it was light burn I had not raised the LED to keep around 18 inches from the tops of the plants, so I quickly raised the lamp.

I should have noticed that straight away but its been a really busy week and I have been getting shit loads of cramp in my mashed up leg and one night I fell over and hit my head and ended up with a gaping gash in my forehead, I went to the hospital first thing the next morning and they were able to glue the wound shut.

I have also squeezed the bottom stalks between my fingers on Monday until I felt them pop and go floppy and by Wednesday they were responding well so I did it again, and also on Saturday morning after I watered them and the stalks are getting

I will let them veg for another week to help them recover before I start to flower them.

More updates to follow, happy growing... :pleasantry:
