Here you see the bucket with the largest plant gone and the runt remaining. I got about 1/4 ounce from the runt, and 5 and half ounces of dried manicured buds from the giant. The more upward major limbs or stalks you can get on one plant from PROPER TOPPING, the more buds you will harvest.

I like to manicure them very closely. I love the trim leaves for making HASH. AFTER I get them manicured, I hang them in large boxes, not touching each other. I dry them depending on size, for 5 to 8 days. The popcorn buds and fluff buds dry in 4 or 5 days. The largest ones, I dry for 7 or 8 days. I put the boxes in a very dark room, low humidity, with an oscilating fan blowing OVER but not ON them. If it rains, I dry an extra day to make up for the high humidity. Strong Light is the enemy of THC. Keep them in darkness or very low light, while drying.

The boxes allow me to blow air OVER them, but not ON them directly. The cardboard also absorbs some humidity. When I started DRYING them, it had to rain 3 days in a row and that didn't help any.

All my books and the experts say to dry them until the stem will easily snap. I did that the first few grows I did, but I hate a DRY and CRISPY bud. I read up on CURING tobacco and I learned I can DRY and CURE and still safely have semi-moist buds. Many growers DRY up to 14 days, but I now dry the larger buds 8 or 9 days MAX, often only 7 days, and Burp the jars twice daily. On my giant colas, I remove a lot of the stem, but I do leave some stem that will not SNAP easily. I examine them twice daily and I dry them some more and I add moisture back some too, if needed.

he other spare bedroom is my Drying Room.

I didn't get as many popcorn buds or fluff buds as normally from that plant. I dry them in box lids and shoe boxes, making sure they do not touch each other.

Again, this is the one giant skunk and the one puny runt. I still have many more to go.

A Top from the Northern Lights.

28 inches! 2 feet, 4 inches long!!!!

2009_Grow_0014.jpg

This is a Northern Lights bud, 28 inches long.
It is a deformed freaky bud, the pic does not do it justice. It looked like a peacock feather, and someone told me it was a fox tail bud. It was 28 + inches long and not like any other bud I have ever seen. It was all 3 to 5 inch long branches stemmig fromt he 28 inch long branch, each about the size of a pencil lead, running all up and down the man stem or branch. Each 3 to 5 inch stem had very immature flowers on it. They were sticky and did have trichcomes all over it. It was NOT DENSE or tight like the other buds.

Here it is again.

2009_Grow_0013.jpg

The bud on my arm is not a normal bud. It is really NOT a bud. It is a stem, 28 inches long, with little stems on it, 3, 4 or 5 inches long. On each short stem are immature flowers.
Some people call it a Fox-Tail Bud, and some call it a peacock feather bud. It is a deformity that occurs only on Indica-Sativa Blends and is encouraged by extra use of extra nitrogen in Flowering.

This is the 54 inch tall plant. The 50 inch wide mylar was on the wall starting at the top of the lid of the reservoir. You can see it in the background.
Same tall plant.

By the way, growers call this Bud Porn; pictures we love to look at.
Here you see two buds still attached together. The bud to the left is not really a bud, it is another one of the feather or foxtail buds. It is not like a cola, and is not thick, or dense, or full. It is just a bunch of stems covered up in immature flowers. The bud to the right is a real tight, dense full bud.

Here is the same two shown differently, with the real cola on the left and the foxtail-peacock feather on the right.

A different bud top.

2009_Grow_0111.jpg

More "bud porn".

2009_Grow_0121.jpg

All these different buds are adding up to a pound, I am sure.
This is what we all want.

Look closely at the top 2 large buds on the far top end of the table, in this lower pic. It is the 2 feather or foxtail buds. You can see them better in this pic.
