@ Fuzzy & Mopman:

the ganja-tea is made boiling a pan of water, then adding freshly chopped green leaves, and some fresh bud-branches (including sticks, leaves, all of it).

After boiling for some 20 minutes they let it rest. Then they add some honey, and drink it very hot.

No milk, no fat of any kind is added.

In theory it should not get you stoned because the resin is not water-soluble, but the resin still floats on the water, it's visible to the naked eye.

After drinking it I felt high, and everyone else did as well.

My guess is that only a part of the resin is actually absorbed, less than if you would add milk or any fat to it, but enough to feel the effect.

Or maybe it depends from what is in your stomach already when you drink it.....

Marijuana tea

By Ed Rosenthal - Monday, August 18 2003

What are the effects of a cannabis tea?

3049-AskEd_43.jpgCan marijuana leaves be boiled to make a tea? Will I get the magical properties that I am looking for? I am looking for a chamomile type of relaxation.

Schmokin,

Internet

Marijuana leaves can be boiled to make a weak tea. Even the leaves of immature plants have a slight effect. However, the leaves of mature plants have a stronger effect.

THC is only very slightly soluble in boiling water. Adding either some alcohol or some oil to the mix will help the THC dissolve. An ounce of whole milk or a half ounce of hard liquor to a cup of boiling water increases the tea's potency quite a bit. A chai-type drink, made with marijuana leaves, spices, butter and milk would dissolve even more of the THC.

Making tea by just boiling the leaves will not release as much psychoactive THC. Since marijuana's pigments and terpenoids ? the components responsible for its flavor ? are water soluble, this tea looks and smells more promising than its effect will be. However, these non-cannabinoids may also have medicinal properties, as could other water-solubles.

DAY 6

Today we wake up in a very good mood: we are going to have a very relaxing morning at a very special jungle-spa.

We eat breakfast in the restaurant of our hotel, smoke a couple of spliffs of the last Orange Hill bud we have left, then we drive off.

We follow the costal road to the east, past Boston Bay, until we take a steep detour inland to go get our friend Blacka.

He is an old planter, I met him back in 1994 when he offered to show me his plantations. When Arjan and myself came scouting Jamaica few months ago we were able to track him down, amazingly he was still living in the same place - seventeen years later.

We reach Blacka's place, we pick him up and drive on towards a place called Bath, a couple of hours to the south. The weather is sunny and hot, and the drive is smooth.

Music is blasting, weed is burning, landscapes are to die for. The last part of the road is steep and narrow, along a river in the thick forest.

We arrive at the spa before it's busy, and as soon as we park the car we are surrounded by local hasslers offering to guide us to the spa. Blacka knows some of the guys, so he takes care of the situation.

After a few minutes of shouting and screaming, we are escorted in the compound by our official guides.

We walk along the river until we reach a spot where hot waters pour out of the ground, and are channeled to flow along the river, on one side. There is also a hot shower coming from a bamboo-pipe, and several flat stones where people get massages.

The whole thing is quite surreal, it's a real spa but it's rough-style, the jungle way.

We are asked to lie down on the flat stones, where we are sprayed with very hot water all over our bodies. It's almost too hot, quite uncomfortable actually, but it does not last long.

After the hot shower they cover us in mud and herbs, and pamper us with a vigorous massage.

To remove the mud it's hot shower-time again, then cold water from the river to tonify the skin.

When it's all finished I feel really good, energized but relaxed at the same time. I can feel the blood flowing inside my arms and legs.

I need a large spliff to cope with all this, and I am not the only one.

After smoking we get back to the cars, where the group of hasslers is waiting to sell us weed, massage-oils, and who knows what other crap. Blacka starts screaming again, and they get pissed off because they realize we are not going to buy much from them.

The situation rapidly escalates, and we are getting close to a violent end.

Blacka finally gets in the car before disaster, and we drive off fast.

We bring Blacka home, where we stop to have a look at his plants growing in his backyard, then we shoot a scene for the documentary. Blacka shows us a very old bush-medicine, a alchool-based potion containing pimiento and cannabis. He says in every Jamaican household the older people keep this medicine, and it's used against stomach problems, cold, flue, sunstroke, and many other conditions. We try some, it's very bitter and very strong.

When the director is happy we bid farewell to old Blacka and drive back to Port Antonio, where we grab some KFC - I know.... no comment -before heading inland again, this time to go raft on the Rio Grande, a beautiful river flowing down a thick bamboo forest hundreds of years old.

The rafting is on bamboo-rafts, handmade, and is very smooth. It's a bit of a tourist ride, but great for filming Jamaican nature. We also have to make the film-crew happy sometimes...

We know of a few fields on the sides of the river, hidden in the forest, but we cannot access them today because the planters are nowhere to be found.

The weather is changing, clouds are moving fast in the sky and a few drops of rain start falling. After a few miles downstream we stop shoot some scenes on the riverbanks.

Then we raft back, upstream.

The rafters are amazingly skilled, and they manage to push the rafts against the current at a good pace.

Only when there are rapids we have to step off and walk on the side of the river, to ease their load.

Once we reach the cars we are ready for a smoke, then we drive back to Port Antonio.

We go for dinner at Wi Yard Anna Banana, a great fish restaurant owned by our friend Lindsey.

He feeds us the best snapper we had in a while, then he even plays a live acoustic jam-session with some friends. Jamaicans have the reggae music in their soul and in their heart, and many regular people are actually talented artists.

After dinner we stay for a few drinks and a few spliffs on the beach, and we truly enjoy the atmosphere of this place.

Tired and stoned, we decide to drive back to our hotel, a few miles down the coast.

When we arrive, the only thing I worry about is rolling a big one and reaching for my bed.

Ya mon.

Great read as usual, Great Pics as usual thanks Franco and Mr X for the updates. Arjan the best thing about these Strain-hunting expeditions is the way you reveal the relationship the locals have with marijuana and just all things about their culture that a tourist would never normally experience. Thank you Greenhouse for all the hard work, it reminds us that all over the world we have a Planetary language called 'Cannabis'

Type: Indica / Sativa
Sex: Feminized
Genetics: GWS x Jamaican Lambsbread
Flowering Time: Long
Outdoor Harvest: Unknown
Height: Short
Characteristics: Outstanding buzz
Product Details;DNA Genetics Sharksbreath feminizedoffers an incredible flavour, distinctive aroma and an outstanding buzz. The guys at DNA Genetics have done a fantastic job in creating this very special plant. The Sharksbreath is a conneseurs delight with the highly potent crop that it yields. Short stout plants pack on frosty and very dense colas. This strain has been referred to as the “cash crop” plant yielding well above average but it is a heavy feeder and to avoid bud rot setting in, a consistent air flow needs to be maintained. Indoor Flowering time for these Cannabis Seeds is 9 weeks.

thought id throw this into the mix, do you think the statement that its crossed with lambsbred is bullshit then cos doesnt exist anymore? also flowering is 9 weeks so gota be wrong, i guess an indica cross whatever gws maybe would shorten it but im stil doubtful.

Awesome trip guys!, photos are amazing some interesting pheno's out there. cant wait for films!

yeah that is a good question, I dont think you guys have the LB cutting on that side of the pond, but we do and she is legit. Most people outside of california are in the dark regarding our LB cut, shes the real deal bro. DNA is legit too but I didnt have much luck with their Sharksbreath, shes sensitive like her mother.

If this isnt the true lamsbread then I think it's safe to say that she is the closest thing to the original that still exists... until I see proof of a more authentic lambsbread I would say this is it bro's. I would like to see pictures of the Most Wanted that you guys picked up if there are any...I was discussing this earlier with a friend of mine and he agrees that our cut must be pure. I am going to talk to my friends that introduced me to the LB many years ago (they own one of the most successful hydro stores in town) and see what they know. The plant that Franco describes sounds more like a Super Silver Haze or a Nevilles Haze, I think she has a lot more indica but she also smells a bit like haze. She is a rare blend of genetics whatever she is. If Franco finds the lambsbread he is after she will be amazing,

here is another picture of the LB, she is at day 5 of 12/12

mate my pals dads from jamaica n we ask him bout the lambsbread n he laughed n said it dissapeared around 20 years ago n he said that its a very tall plant with long sativa like leafs dont mean to rain on ure parade bro but that looks like a indica not even a hybrid so there might be a slight possability that theres lambsbread in it but its only a small chance..

I had the pleasure of seeing crossed sativa's (LB crosses) in jamaica in the 90's, and they have pencil thin (thinner than ur little finger for sure no wider) leaves. they couldnt look more sativa in apperance and had an amazing electric high that lights up ur mind and reddens the eyes rapidly. i love jamaican/caribbean/rastafari/african ganja with all my heart and prize them above all others, i can tell u without a shadow of a doubt that if u were to find the lambsbread it would take about 16weeks to flower and would exhibit no indica like qualitys atall!!

one love to all who blaze

the more ppl smoke herb the more babylon fall

jah live

DAY 7

A week has passed already! Incredible, time goes fast when you're having fun...

I get out of my bed, take a shower and roll a fat joint with some gum we got yesterday, the best ever. It's dark-red and creamy, very tasty, and damn strong.

We are sleeping in three separate cottages, so we all meet for breakfast at the restaurant. Then we head down to the beach and set up for filming interviews.

The interviews are a very important part of the Strain hunters documentary, it's the moment when you talk about the expedition, the places, the people, and the plants.

I am the first one in line, so I prepare my spliff and chose a good spot with the film crew.

Then it's Simon's turn, and then Arjan's.

While they film their interviews I enjoy the beach: it's a magic spot, with a river flowing into the sea, and the fresh water mixing with the salty one, creating strong currents and layers of cold and hot water mixing together.

After Arjan's interview it's the turn of our guides to do their interview, and it's fascinating to listen to their tales about Jamaica.

We wrap it up around lunchtime, then we load the cars and drive to our next appointment with a Rastaman they call "the Field Marshal".

He lives in a tree-house, deep into the forest, inland from Port Antonio. We follow a dirt-road through hills and forest, and suddenly Boboshanti tells us to stop the car. He jumps off and start screaming to the forest.

After a few minutes a skinny Rasta appears from the bush, and tells us to follow him.

We walk for a few minutes and we get to the tree-house. It's a strange place.

We sit on the veranda, overlooking the thick forest, and the Field Marshal offers us to drink some of his bush-medicine, the same type of stuff we tried at Blacka's house. A small sip is enough to burn my throat and upset my stomach, but before I have the time to get uncomfortable the Field Marshal passes me a chalice - the original Rastafari water-pipe, made from a coconut shell.

I puff and puff, and in 30 seconds I am so high I can hardly speak.

The following hour is a blur.

We keep smoking chalice after chalice, and every time the Field Marshal lights up and passes on, screaming "Hot hot hot... Fire! Red!", with his crazy red eyes; it's hilarious. At one point - not sure how much time passed - comes the moment to leave and go back to Wi Yard Anna Banana, the great restaurant on the beach, where Lindsey has organized a major jam-session in our honor.

We arrive to find several artists from the area chilling there, and people preparing the stage and the lights. We smoke and drink, and eat and feast. The weather is cloudy and windy, it looks like rain is coming our way. But we don't care. As soon as it gets dark the party starts. Boboshanti and several other artists from the area put up a great reggae show, and we all have a great time. We have a lot to celebrate: our expedition has been a great success up to this point. Pity soon we're gonna head back to Europe... but I'm excited, it's Cannabis Cup time again!

We go on partying until late, and it all gets blurry again.

Was it me driving back? Really??!

LOL
