Day 1

Hi Guys & Girls, time for another journal.

Started these babies off on Friday last week putting them in overnight soak of water and Canna Rhizotonic, put them in Root It germination cubes on Saturday, first seed the surface yesterday and the rest are up today Tues.

I've just got the 125 watt Blue CFL out of the shed and letting it get to room temperature before switching it on, then under it they will go in the cardboard box I have in the loft, the heat from the light should keep them warm enough and they'll stay under the propogation lid too, as the loft is cold this time of year probably go down to 5c.

There are 5 x Critical and 1 x Fruit Spirit, trying just six plants this time to give them more room to grow to see if I get better yields off four good plants rather than 8/9 crammed in same space, we'll see.

That's it for now, peace y'ole.

PS: Fruit Spirit is front right with little stick in pot for identification

Hey Jimmy, they are now in the loft under blue CFL, will see how they are tomorrow as I've had to prop up the lid of propogator to keep humidity in because two seedlings were touching it already today!

They are short strains Critical 50-70cms and Fruit Spirit 70-100cm plan on LST them as I only have the six plants this time round.

Hey Lams. I just popped up in loft to check on them, they've been up there a full 24hrs and the temp is 24.7 with humidity at 47% so even if that drops a few degrees overnight and the humidity goes up, they should still be absolutely fine.

They're in cardboard wardrobe box not tent so can't insulate it, I was looking at vivarium heating mat but don't think am going to need it with those temps and humidity.

This is only for vegging and seeing as my NL autos have got a good few weeks to go it's not a problem yet at all.

Ah i see, it just for vegging, i didn't realise that.

That temp and humidity is great. :D

If you did want some insulation, i was looking at horticultural bubble wrap (used for insulating greenhouses), it came in at £10 for a 30 metre roll and could be attached to exterior of cardbord cupboard with double sided tape or double sided sticky pads used for mounting bathroom mirrors, just a thought i was having.

Take care bro

Peace

Day 3:

Hi Guys & Girls,

Well, my babies seem to be doing absolutely fine in their cardboard box in the loft, one has fallen over but I'm not bothered about straightening it as I intend to train them anyway.

They will stay in loft until I can get them in tent, which will be when the NL Autos are ready so I reckon they'll get around 3/4 weeks of loft vegging, I might FIM them as well.

The two cardboard tubes you can see are supporting the propogator lid otherwise the babies would be pushing up against it, it raise up about an inch or so and allows air flow into it so they don't get too humid.

Here's today's pic's.

Have a great weekend one and all.

nice seedling man congratz ;)

Tok lol you're obsessed with having small stem aren't you? everytime you see long stem you say it, personally i prefer to have a little longer stem, so when they are bigger the leaves never touch the soil even when droopy ;) but they have to be held for sure on first week or it CAN fall, and in some case i agree putting soil is good but not always ^^

Cheers mna keep those babies growing the fast stage will come soon :D

haha no don't worry it's true, but it's just funny to see everytime you see a little stem ^^

and come on everyone has from time to time thirsty girls at least once in a grow ;) and having leaves higher makes it harder for the little pest to crawl on it if it's not flying pest, but anyway you are right it can be repotted

And about anything under the soil yeah it's kind of right, but honestly did you check the size of those roots when soil is added? most of the time it's pretty ridiculous except if you had 10cm of stem of course then you will have at least a good half rooted.

But it's still a good advice and better have a small stem than a broken stem :P

bless ;)

You been talkin to miss kitty dust? xD

But hey if you ever want a peep show when I am watering the plants naked just ask! Sometimes those white articles you see in my profile pic just happen to fall off! Then the buds rub up and down my tits, getting them all shiny and sticky with resin. Then take a big fat cola and spank my apple bottom ass until its red as the hairs on the bud. Sound good boys?

Just looked up ero sennin LMFAO xD

jejeje

Peace

  • 2 weeks later...

Day 18:

Hi Guys & Girls, hope you are all well and had good week.

All is going good in the cardboard box in the loft, all 6 plants coming along nicely on 20/4 light cycle.

Haven't fed them any nutes as yet but will do once I transfer them into the Airpots and clay pebbles, just need to sort out a new tent, I've decided I'm going to have to buy one 90 x 50 x 160 - £49

This will fit perfectly between the roof supports, which are 57cms apart, I have a 60 x 60cms seed tray, which will just squeeze in and then the Airpots will sit in that on top of a reservoir.

I've decided I'm not going to remove the soil just pop them in the Airpots as they are and put the clay pebbles around and hope they are ok, should be, might take a week or so to adapt but pretty sure they be fine.

Airpots are all ready filled will clay pebbles waiting n the loft for the tent, which I haven't ordered yet but will do this weekend.

Here's some pics I took yesterday Day 17.

Day 22:

Hi Guys & Girls, time for an update but without pics at the moment, I will get them done so you can see my interesting home made hydro system.

Basically, I had to repot them so put them straight in Airpots filled with Plagron Clay Pebbles but left the plants in the soil they've been growing. That was two days ago and they seemed to have survived the transplant so far.

I have them currently sitting in two cardboard boxes 24" x 24" x 18" one stacked on top of the other and taped together with my homemade hydro in the bottom, which basically consists of a Plastic Underbed Storage container 35 liters, on top of that I have a seed tray 52cms long with loads of holes in the bottom of it.

The Airpots sit in the tray and are fed via MaxiJet 1000 and my own tubing set up, which I had immense problems with as I tried to use Adjustable 360 degree sprayers but the pressure from MaxiJet is not up to that of a water tap, what they are supposed to be connected to so I changed the sprayers to 180 degrees and now they work fine.

They will stay in the cardboard box set up until the 18th Dec, when I will be harvesting the NL Autos in the tent and then they will go straight in and onto 12/12 flowering cycle.

I am buying a tent just waiting to sell something else on Ebay so I have the cash. I have found a brilliant tent for my loft measuring 75 x 75 x 100, which would fit in loft without any problems and is big enough for me to veg plants, as I only grow them to about 30cms before flowering.

Will put pictures up as soon as I can but I don't want to pull off all the tape holding two boxes together and keeping the light in as they are on 22/2 at the moment.

All the best

Day 24:

Hey Guys & Girls,

Time for an update with pictures this time round!

Just been up in loft to take some pictures for you lot and obviously to check on my girls, which are doing great in their little homemade hydro set up, I've taken pics of the cardboard box set up s well so you can see what they are sitting in, simple recirculating system, no nutes as yet will start feeding when I put them in tent next week after harvesting the NL Autos, that's happening on 18th Dec to give it a week to dry and that will be my Christmas present to myself, lol.

Here's the pic's, enjoy.

Thanks guys, I'm very happy with it and will start feeding them as soon as I get them in the tent next week, they're doing just great in their "Heath Robinson Hydro" and didn't show the slightest signs of transplanting into pebbles.

Really looking forward to seeing how this grow goes in comparison to all the others I've tried, started with homemade aquaponics, which was very good but a pain in the arse changing nutes reservoir every week mainly because of getting it in and out of my tent filled with water and trying to keep the plants stable when removing them from top of reservoir.

Then went to airpots and soil, which was good but you cannot let soil in airpots dry out in the slightest otherwise it takes ages to rehydrate it, literally have to leave them standing in water.

Then normal pots and soil, which is fine but yields are not as good as airpots, hence now trying airpots with hydro set up.

I will be getting a small tent to replace the stealthy cardboard boxes, which should mean I only ever have an 4/5 weeks between harvests, as I can get seedlings ready to go straight to flower and even switch them over before they go in tent for a couple of weeks.

Have a great weekend guys.

Day 28:

Hi Guys & Girls, yes it's time for another little update.

I moved them today from their cardboard box set up in the loft down into the tent, took ages because I had to harvest the NL autos before, all up took about 3hrs!!!

They ow have the 125w CFL blue and one 120w LED panel, I've sent the other one back to be repaired, I also have a 600w HPS borrowed froma friend not growing at present so tomorrow will switch to that.

Temps with the CFL and the LED panel got up to 32 and RH went down to 37% so have stuck extractor fan on for a while and they all seem very happy and I've never seen such wide leaves as on the Fruit Spirit, hugely wide.

Here's the pics.
