*COMPLETE* Smokey's Yin-Yang (Trainwreck & SLH) Powderfeed SCROG - 600W HPS + 4 x LEDs

Recommended Posts

Hello friends, I apologize for anyone patiently waiting for the final weights/dry bud porn, and/or cannabutter posts and me to finish this journal up, I am aiming to have the cannabutter post up tomorrow and the final weights/dry bud porn/FINAL POST done by Friday..or the end of the weekend at the latest.

amazing looking plants well done mate think i might give scrog ago one day :)

Thanks man, I appreciate the nice words and I say go for it...scrog nation..do it up lol :) :) Seriously it's really productive, you get very little popcorn, and it's lots of fun if you like spending lots of hands on time in your garden. With your skills you would rock a scrog I think.

Nice harvest man beautiful purple colors on them :P

Thanks for visiting and the comment :) I am more than happy with these genetics and the colors..thx GHSC!

PEACE

Thanks for taking your time to explain everything i wanted to know. Getting a license from a doctor takes a lot of pressure away from us growers. I feel really lighter now since I can see an end to my growing operations. I collected enough herbs for the summer , since I am not a chronic smoker anymore and besides growing a bit of weed outside it feels good not to have to worry/take care of a grow room full of trees etc. I am down to tone last girl, that takes a lot longer to flower/finish. Those autos were fantastic. Stinky buds again not much, but if the first examples do not misslead me I am sure this will be among the best from all these fine strains ..... But one thing is for certain. Next weed I grow indoors will be the Super Lemon Haze ...

Waiting for the final update - have a quality time till then my friend !

No worries Bam :) Ya the government now wants to take away the right to grow from us medical growers because it is a tax/money hungry government that wants to control everything, becoming more like a dictatorship/fascist style government all the time :( Is it such a horrible thing for a country to allow 22,000 of it's citizens to grow their own natural, herbal medicine that is less harmful & more beneficial to us than pills and big pharma, that we can alter via strains to be specific to our medical needs, and in doing so freeing us from paying ridiculous prices while our liver is damaged?? Apparently the ruling federal government of Canada, the Progressive (progressive..what a joke..more like regressive) Conservative party thinks so :P:angry:

Ahh man..here I go ranting again lol..

That's awesome that you've got your summer stash!! I'm gonna start up my Auto contest grow in the next week or so I hope and once that's done I'm planning a break..for a month at least anyways lol..until the hot summer weather starts to die down anways :P I'm looking forward to your SLH grow! :) All the best brother..I will get over to check the finish of your autos asap

Peace

That suxx, buut still much much better than over here but fick em legal-illegal Free The Herb I say..

Yeah. ust posted he last pix of the 3 Autos together with the outdoor seedlings . As you can see there is not much on it, but every half ounce counts.

The remainig might gice a good ounce - hopefully - that should last with te remains till august or so ..Then I can start the winter crop..

You asked about the pebbles. TBG I had no fungus nor diseases, so I ust rased the tree with the roots and then crumbled off the pebbles and tried to get rid of all the root material. That worked pretty well, but last time I added quite some soil from a garden center with fertilizers inside and I fear using that along with the COCO/PEBBLE 50/50 mix is responsible for less vitality plus extreme dry conditions. Must get a humidifier next to raise ther/h to at least 50 % . Now it was ofte under 30 % plus keeping the plants close to the lambs will fasten up the flowering, but refrains the plants from stretching. Plus 12/12 from seed - each crop the plants got smaller unless you grow Haze ..the Misterio was a massive tree, too and the last Damnesia, too. These two yielded more than 6 of the last dwarves combined..lo

So all in al it was VERY successfull and I can take my time to travel a bit etc. Go to some festivals - we will see.

I ordered CANN BIO TERRA and FRUX starter soil for the outdoor girls. Will try BIO BIZZ LIGHT MIX next timewith the SLH I think with a small bag of clay on top.

I throw away the medium now , even the pebbles ..

SUPER LEMON HAZE SLOW COOKER CANNABUTTER & NO BAKE SLH CANNA COOKIES POST

So I really was looking forward to making SLH bubble bag hash from the trim, but because the new portable vaporizer that I pre-ordered's release has been pushed back (I want it for work & school) I needed a discrete way to medicate during work hours and this was the resulting solution. I still am thinking I will make some Trainwreck bubble hash this weekend with the frozen fresh trim in the freezer.

I created a post not long ago for making slow cooker cannabutter with vape poo, the vape poo recipe is not my own (but slightly altered) and all credit was given and deserved on the last post to the original chef. This is not much different, I've altered it and removed stuff to shorten it (imagine that..me abbreviating anything :P) except you are using fresh frozen trim instead of vape poo. So I will post the link for the vape poo post as well in case anyone is interested, it does have some extra pictures with the instructions, but here is my modified instructions using trim with pictures from this batch of butter.

VAPE POO INSTRUCTIONS FOR ANYONE INTERESTED : http://www.strainhun...-a-slow-cooker/

For this batch I used: Approx. 120 g’s premium fresh frozen SLH trim (only leaves covered in resin glands) + 2 lb’s butter + 6 cups water. The ratio of trim to butter can be adjusted depending on the quality of your trim and how potent you want your butter. Also, for this batch I put the Crock pot (slow cooker) on low for 12 hrs and it was just right..with trim I don't think there would be much benefit to going longer than this.

Materials Needed

- Fresh frozen trim: 120 g's of SLH trim (must be frozen if fresh so that it can be ground in the grinder - I rec

- Butter - 2 lbs Unsalted (Amount depend on amount of trim)

- Water - 6 cups

- Crockpot aka Slow cooker

- Cheese Cloth

- Electric bud grinder aka coffee grinder lol

- Mesh Strainer (optional)

Directions

- Make sure slow cooker will be large enough to hold your trim, the butter, and enough water to completely cover everything.

- Make sure the trim is frozen so that it is brittle and will bust up in the grinder - then grind it all up in batches

- Turn the slow cooker on the lowest setting and add the the butter

- Once the butter is melted, add enough water to completely cover everything - too much water is better than to little, if you have a "hotter" slow cooker you don't want it too burn, make sure there is enough water!)

-Stir everything up and put the lid on.

- Leave the slow cooker on the lowest setting, it will need to run for 12 - 24 hours at this setting. There are other recipes that have you turn it on high and extract the cannabinoids much faster but this increased the chance it will burn and being able to walk away and leave it on low is pretty awesome. WARNING! - the smell will travel through your house, so I do not recommend people in apartments doing this. You will want to stir the mixture occasionally - does not need to be done often - but for the most part leave the lid on and go, if you have a hotter slow cooker you may want to keep an eye on it and if it boils too rapidly leave the lid off a little, just a crack, so the temperature can be lowered slightly. The mixture does not need to boil, boiling will burn butter for sure if not done carful, even with the water.

- Once the 12 - 24 hours is complete, turn off slow cooker, you will need to line a large mesh strainer with cheese cloth (or strain through strainer first then through cloth as I've shown in pictures), if mesh strainer not available, cheese cloth alone will do.

- Find a container that will be able to hold the butter and water mixture

- Slowly pour the mixture of trim, water, and butter through the strainer and cheese cloth, be careful it will be hot (rubber or vinyl gloves can help)

- Once all the liquid drains through, wrap the cheese cloth around the wet trim, now with your hands squeeze out the remaining liquid into the container, the cheesecloth should catch every bit of trim and you should be left with a green mixture of butter, water, and cream( the cream is a by-product of heating butter)

-If there are still trim pieces in the liquid you can strain it another time through the cheese cloth.

Voila - you now have a really nice potent cannabutter to make any medible you desire! :yahoo:

I decided to try an easy recipe that I altered a little (original post link added) for No Bake Canna Cookies because I was looking for something quick and easy and that would hide the smell of the weed butter, and these not only do that but taste AMAZING.

No Bake SLH Canna Cookies

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups sugar (I used 1/2 turbinado 1/2 white)

5 tablespoons cocoa

1/2 cup canna/weed butter

1/2 cup milk (I used Vanilla Almond Milk)

1 cup peanut butter

1.5 tablespoon vanilla

3 cups oatmeal

Directions:

In a scauepan mix together sugar, cocoa, canna butter and milk. Let boil for 1 minute(no longer..all you want to do is help dissolve the sugar) then remove from heat. Now add oatmeal, peanut butter and vanilla. mix together and drop spoonfuls onto wax or parchment paper and let cool for 10 minutes or so (putting them in the fridge speeds things up!) and it's off to the moon!

One more final post to go with weights/yield and bry bud porn to finish this grow journal off and then it's time to get the auto's growing!!

Peace

Thanks for all of your awesome comments my friends, and for enjoying the butter/cookies post :) I made a 2nd batch a few days ago and damn they are handy + tasty + easy!

This will be the final official post I will say, and it has 37 pictures, excessive, possibly, but I can’t decide on which to include and which to exclude out of about 150 (some look like I was drunk when taking them lol) so..37 it will be :P I will still post some smoke/vape/picture updates as curing progresses, and I will happily answer any questions anytime, but as far as posts for contest considerations go this will be it.

**PLEASE SCROLL OVER PICTURES WITH YOUR MOUSE TO SEE THE NAME OF THE PICTURE :)

Thanks to everyone who has followed my 3rd grow and helped with encouragement and advice, all of your awesome comments and even just the views make all the work worth it!!! Thanks also to GHSC for being leaders and creating this unique and incredible contest and opportunity!!! I hope everyone enjoys the final pictures and best of luck to all growers, it’s been a blast!!

** Bud weighed was fully dry (2+ weeks dry/cure) with almost NO stem left..JUST BUD – NO popcorn – all dense premium bud**

IN GENERAL: Already I can say that these two strains are in my top 5 or so favorites of any I’ve tried. All buds are still pretty fresh and changes to the smell, taste, and effect are happening rapidly now as they start to cure. Potency seems to be increasing almost daily as the THC is converted into its more potent form.

Taste: Excellent for all 4 plants with the SLH#2 and the TW#2 being my favorites right now. Even though they are still pretty fresh from harvest and have not yet cured long the smell from the jars when I open them every 72 hours or so right now is intoxicating!!

**Most taste observations come from vaporizing via Volcano – but the Trainwreck is already starting to taste nice toked and the taste really comes through with it. As they cure longer I will smoke them more and vape a little less.

Effect: Effects in my opinion are VERY SUBJECTIVE – effects from the same plant can be very different for different individuals, while this can be used as a kind of guide, this is purely my own experience so far. All 4 plants are EXCELLENT for pain relief and all very potent. Hungry anyone? All plants make me want to raid the cupboard and are excellent appetite stimulants, especially the Trainwreck!

Appearance: Both strains were very resinous and full of trichomes but the SLH is insane, like a sparkly Christmas tree as Bam said.

Yield: Overall I will first say I am happy because pretty much all bud cured into tight potent bud with almost no popcorn. Most buds are 1 – 3 grams dry with most around 2 g’s and because the scrog allows them all to get a fairly even amount of light all are of pretty much the same quality, they just vary a little in size.

I’m thinking that the resultant intensity & frequency of using the 4 LED lights + the 600W Hortilux Super HPS from before flowering began, caused the plants to mature and ripen VERY quickly. Imo, this is both positive and negative. I’ve mentioned all of the pros before of an early maturing crop, and the con of course is that with less time to mature yield can possibly be lowered. A positive thing about this spectrum is that the quality/potency is AAA (imo of course lol) and this could be partly to do with the mixed spectrum. While I am not at all unhappy with a total yield of 363 grams for 4 plants, I think it could have been quite a bit higher if they had a little more time before maturation. I think next grow I might at least raise the LED’s quite a bit early on once the HPS is added to possibly lessen the speedy ripening results achieved by a high concentration of both the HPS and LEDs too early in flowering, and thus increase yield a little. I want to find a balance between speed of maturation and yield.

Slh#1

Appearance: Buds are more sativa like in appearance having skinnier tops but they then taper out into fairly fat dense buds unlike a true full sativa bud, not that this is a problem. Some very pretty purple and pink colours are still noticeable mainly on the tops of the buds even after trimming.

Effect: POTENT with a capital holy shit!! In the volcano it hits after the first exhale, and damn it just keeps coming! Having something to do is advisable, or maybe not, depends really on how many tokes/hits you take. Too many and focussing on much more than how baked you are or on more than one thing becomes very difficult. Luckily if you can restrain yourself and stick to a lower “dose” , mental concentration at times seems to be enhanced and functioning possible, maybe even enhanced. She is definitely the more sativa like of the 2 SLH phenos, it’s incredible in the morning, no need for coffee, but also hits the body with a really nice buzz..especially at the top of the head, like a pleasant tingle.

Taste: Berry/floral haze + lemon

Smell: A combination of citrus (almost like frozen concentrated orange juice when you open the jar + lemon) and haze like smell with a spicy undertone and even a hint of chocolate maybe?

Appearance: It does not surprise me that she is so sativa in effect considering her bud structure being much narrower and tower-like at the top compared to her sister. Colors range from lime-green, to blue-green, to purplish pink at some tips.

Total weight = 108 g’s

SLH#2

Appearance: Buds are more roundish shaped and stocky than pheno SLH#1, bud structure resembles more like that of the Lemon Skunk being roundish at the tips and stockier. Like her sister there are some really nice purples and pinks that came out that don’t show as much as before trim, but are still there when viewed up close. Very tight and dense nuggets.

Smell: Buds smelling a little more lemon like now..like pledge with a floral (lilac?). But also have this really sweet aroma..like some sort of fruity/chocolate cheesecake with a hazey background especially when you rupture a few glands.

Taste: is floral/berry/citrus skunky/hazey and kind of a cheesecake taste on the inhale – still very early, but really cool and complex.

Effect: Much like SLH#1 it is still uplifting but it has much more body to it.

** Have to add, just smoked a joint (a couple hours before posting the report) and the results were already VERY smooth – taste was lemon on the inhale with a kind of grape and haze taste when exhaled. It burned white and stayed lit, and had amazing flavor already right to the end, not harsh at all.

Total weight = 100 g’s

Trim weight SLH#1 + #2 combined = 120 g’s fresh premium bud trim – no fans

TW#1

Appearance: More foxtailing and tower like calyxes that her sisterpheno TW#2. When you cut a bud up it is very sticky, like candy sticky.

Smell: Becoming more pinelike..still distinctive - like sweet hops, also a bit chemical/metallic

Taste: Inhale is sweet/floral and complex, exhale is VERY Pine + lemon

Effect: I need to hit this plant a little more before I can give a detailed description of the effects, but they are similar to TW#2, just maybe a little less potent.

Total weight = 81 g’s

TW#2

Appearance: SUPER tight dense roundish buds, with a kush-like appearance – although totally dry, very oily like when busted up thanks to resinous tight buds

Smell: Like a really sweet/sour, syrupy, pine/sage, celery smell - VERY intense when busted up and a little like really sweet motor oil – VERY complex and unique

Taste: Sweet pine/menthol with a floral background on the inhale, metallic lemon on the exhale – very unique, VERY tasty – creates massive volcano bags one after another, after another, and smoked it is a very dense thick smoke.

Effect: Mellows and relaxes the mind at first, music, dancing, laughing and smiling all come easily..then the mind-f*ck starts CREEPER ALERT– best way to describe it, and not a bad thing, not one bit! It is easy and enjoyable to get lost in anything really. Forgetting what you were doing or going to do comes frequently but you don’t care when you are on a trippy Trainwreck ride. And this is one of the most fun green rides I’ve had (each and every time) and a damn fine way to spend an evening, or morning for that matter if you can get away with just enjoying yourself with no responsibilities and escaping reality for a few hours!! Evening use leads to very heavy eyelids and if you are, um..happen to be..*yawn.. sleepy at al ..all..um..ya..zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. OH..and I can’t forget to add that pupils end up huge, and eye drops are a must if you are thinking of going into public because even this dedicated daily green consumer gets red eyes from this very potent herb! One last thing, until the moment you go to sleep the fridge and cupboards are not safe!! This plant in particular is the worst/best for munchies, food tastes better than you could ever imagine food tasting!

To give you an idea just how bad it is, it’s late at night and I just vaped some TW#2 about an hour ago and since have been eating pretty much non-stop. I’m getting tired now, but I just ate one of the SLH cannacookies I made earlier this week. Not because I want to stay up longer, but because I was craving chocolate REALLY bad! This could be interesting..ahh the vicious cycle lol.

Total weight = 74 g’s – the lowest yielder but possibly my favourite plant

ALL 4 PLANTS TOTAL YIELD = 363 grams

PEACE!

nobody will say that pictures are more than necessary, the buds look very compact, super resinous, I imagine super-sticky to the touch ... mmm ... and how could it be otherwise for a crop so neat, the perfect manicured, it shows you were doing several hours hehe, I can go to lick your scissors?

I'm intrigued to know what will be your next crop varieties? going to use the same system?

and I hope that does not bother what I say, there are many journals with a very good level, but yours has an extra in all respects, and nothing to criticize, give this boy the prize for me is the best journal of this competition :kingchris:

awesome man!! took me a while to come to the end wut i think i could have scrolled again :D

Thanks for the very nice reports plant per plant and the general report too! congratz on the yeil, still very honorable for 4 plants and i'm sure next time you do even better as you know what to change next time :)

Have a good smoke man! See you in your next journal and i hope it will be as great as this one ;)

Top notch. each plant ripe perfectly manicured buds, sticky stuff, better weed than you get in 9 out of 10 coffe shopes - Perfect round up documentation and I agree this is so far the best journal and should be among the winrers - Others I can think of right out of my head are Greeno and my own self..lol

Let's not forget the poor fella who got busted 2 days before it was harvest time. I am sure he could use a littl ebenefit for his loss...

Sorry if I forgot to name you - nothing personally but these stick out for the sheer amount of work, that went into both - the growing + curing, photos smoke reports and communication with those who ask a question or comment on any details.

In the end it is not me to decide who deserves to win anyway....just speaking my mind

Hahaha..ahh man thanks again for the laughs, your "vote" and enjoyment of the journal/grow.  Both strains were fun to grow, especially the Super Lemon Haze, I now know why it has won 2 Cannabis Cups, it's a winning strain no doubt in every respect!! Every grower should grow at least one or 2 SLH plants in their lifetime :spiteful: lol. Manicuring was done over what I thought was way too long of a period of time but in the end I am happy, I get really picky sometimes :P

As for the next grow, I will be starting 6 autoflowers for the contest, 2 of each Sweet Mango, Super Critical, and Northern Lights in 23 L pots each. A little big maybe for autos, but I want to see if this will push the yield a little more. I should have the grow tent, room and pots cleaned up and the babies started in the next 5 days or so if all goes well. What about yourself? Entering the Auto contest as well?

Ya Dust I do go a little crazy with the pictures so I'm happy you enjoy them! :) I think I know a few areas where I definitely could have made better decisions that would have increased yield a little, but no complaints at all about quality, so I will try and learn and carry on and hope to have an even better show next time. Thanks for hanging out for the ride my friend!! :bye:

I agree Bam, it would be a tough job to judge this contest..it's too bad we can't send in "smoke" samples..I'm sure the judges wish we could as well lol. When I check out others grows there are sooo many "WOW holy sh*t damn!!" moments when you scroll through pictures, there's excitement with every roll of the mouse..a tough call indeed! What is so damn cool about these contests is there is a TON of learning going on for everyone..and we growers get to see and maybe incorporate a new growing technique, product, or style that we may not have considered if we had not checked out a contest journal. The friendly competition pumps up everyone's game to another level and I think we're gonna see improved grows/growers with every contest to come. It's a damn sweet situation for everyone involved I think  Judge or no..your words are a prize in themselves and I will be happy with whatever the results are, many thanks brother!

I really feel for guys who get busted, gets me angry to be honest. You go through all of that hard work, spend money, and invest time and love to grow this amazing plant with so many positive qualities only to have some lazy f*ck who has some b.s. authority (given to them by who..someone else with some b.s. authority) come and take it away for b.s. reasons so they can steal and smoke it themselves..stop being a hypocrite and grow your own :P

Thanks for keeping me company for the past 4 months and for your advice along the way :bye: Best of luck!

Peace

Very nice picture's man. Enjoyed the report very much. Like you say reading all these great reports inspire me as well to try new tips and tricks. Also got me thinking about adding some LED to my 400w HPS. The plants will definetley benefit from the better colour spectrum and should mature all the good stuff better than the glow from just the HPS. I believethat good outdoor stuff grown under the full spectrum of the sun, has a much better rounded, long lasting high. Plan after summer is to create a new room, with scrog capbilities.

Enjoy the Trainwreck used to me send me into lovely sleep, will be sniffing some out in Amsterdam, only 3 weeks to go. Have had some vague memories from many a hazy day, such a chore going up ther to meet my friends from the UK. ( Any excuse). They can't get enougth of the Super Lemon Haze. Possibly my favourite haze long with her Mum the Super Silver.

THANKS EVERYONE AGAIN FOR ALL OF THE POSITIVE FEEDBACK, IT MAKES THE CROP EVEN SWEETER AND THE WORK SEEM LIGHTER!!

It's been 1 month since cut and about 3 weeks of curing and both strains continue to improve in all aspects, just gotta say WOW!!!!!! Everyone has to give both of these strains a go at least once, they are both on my grow again list and my top strain list in a HUGE way. Greenhouse and Strainhunters much respect and thanks again!!

Thanks Gaz!! :D It's nice to hear another's thoughts on a strain I've grown and they've also grown in the past..comparing "high"notes is fun :P Speaking of hazy days, just got home from work, and as I've been writing these replies I've just killed 2 bowls of SLH and damn the start to the weekend is off to a grrreat start!! Headed to the annual Treating Yourself Expo in Toronto tomorrow and plan on spending lots of time comparing strains from 100's - 1000's of green lovers/licensed medical card holders in the 4200 square foot vaporizing/medicating tent, been waiting for this for awhile!! And definitely gonna be hitting up the Greenhouse booth..hoping also to pick up a 4th strain for the auto cup since only 1 outta 2 Northern Lights autos has sprouted after 4 days (5 outta 6 total)

I would say definitely give it a go for adding the LED to the 400 W..I am very happy with the results of mine as secondary lighting and hopefully the LED's last as long as they say they should..if they do, well worth the $$. With your skills I think you will see things blow up even bigger!! Plus a new room with scrog capabilities will definitely be a feast for the eyes and brain when you harvest all of that stinky gold :D

BTW I gotta try some Super Silver sometime - it would be nice to compare her to this killer SLH strain..2 cup wins for a reason!! Best of luck with the contest Gaz..wicked grow/show you've given us!

The buds looks amazing, Dont know if i´ve ever seen frosty buds like these. Salute !!

Hi Sweede, thanks a lot man! Nice to hear, and welcome to the sight!! Stick around man, I've only been here a short time and you won't find another sight/place like it!! Tons of amazing grow info and 99% a-hole free!! lol

PEACE!! :friends:
