Thanks everyone for the comments and input, it is always nice to know there is such an awesome community to help out when I become unsure and nervous! I think everything is ok and I'd overlooked how rough I had been at times with the Trainwrecks during training, pulling them under and through holes etc. roughed up the pistils pretty good at times. Other than that I think Dust was right about them being pretty mature for their age due to the long vegetation. They were definitely set to flower when I put them into 12/12.

There will be more explanation with my weekly journal update which should hopefully be posted this evening :) :)

Depends on the strain, In general wjen pistils turn red/brown from white it is a sign of an overall ripening BUT certain strains esp Damnesia has another trick up the sleeve. First the pistils turn to a grpaphite blackish dark , that along with a change in aroma might lead you to think they are nearing ripeness; once they are no longer any white pistils to see and after flushing comes the true ripe color. The buds tirn into a yellowish, red and start their final countdown.

Very interesting. The train wreck is a beast - first you think that you got a weak piece of Nile grass, once the buds appear it still looks like nothing special. without actually npticing after 4 to 6 week in flower they start to show what they can grow to. Unusual leave form, stems and grow pattern..

Fascinating. I could go on and on but you got the point..? LOL

See Bam the whole graphite colour of the pistils with the Damnesias woulda freaked me right out LOL. Even though I am starting to understand more and more that it can be difficult to define what is "normal" for a cannabis plant at times, I still get anxious when I see something I don't expect! But that is part of the fun of seeds..the unknown :) The Trainwrecks are unique in many respects it seems. Even with mine there are the huge trademark calyxes and as you said the growth pattern is all it's own. They aren't as big and fat yet as the SLH's but they seem to be super tight and dense from the test bud. After Greeno's really cool pheno explode in the last couple of weeks I'm not too concerned with weight, it will come.

hey smokey man, those plant`s are starting to get nice and frosty eh ? I`m really dying to see how these bud`s turn out man. I saw you where asking about the pistil`s turning brown on the trainwreck, my trainwreck was really strange the pistil`s remained white until the hole calyx swelled up around it and only the tip of the pistil was exposed, so I don`t know but I have seen pistil`s change colors early then people use tin foil they get like singed, I have also seen pistil`s change color early when the plant was too big for the light source both of which I doubt are problems`your exsperiancing other then that tho I don`t know maybe it`s just from the long veg. it would be difficult for you to search each entire plant over for banana`s because of the scrog and thick growth but just keep an eye out everytime you are in your room your plant`s are looking great and super resinous already. I found that when I had a plant produce banana`s and go hermie it was like the resin production just completely stopped but it has only happened to me once indoors and at much later stage in flowering to where you are at right now

Ya man you got it..trying to inspect every bud in the scrog is a major PITA :P I basically lay in my back and look up at the lower most buds and stretch over the top of the others to get at the middle..but it's not as simple as being able to wheel them out and get at all angles. Definitely a drawback to the all in one screen scrog set-up. I now think the early orange pistils are a combination of a few things long veg, me being a bit rough when training them - not on purpose, it just happens after a few hrs - and the right conditions have maybe sped things up by a week or so anyways. There are more milky trichs than I would normally expect at this stage. I can't really compare too much to the first scrog I did since it was my first grow and conditions/skill/plants etc. were not even close to these ladies. In the grow vids they harvest the Trainwreck at 49 days - 2 weeks earlier than catalogue - and the SLH at 63 days - 1 to 2 weeks earlier than catalogue - because of optimal conditions. I don't know if mine are at "optimal" but between the nutes, lights, and environment and their response to everything I think/hope they are pretty happy. Thanks for the input and the comments bro :)

I really want to smell those beautiful girls! It's nice to see them grow and it`s better to see your report, congrats my friend!

Thanks GastonHaze, the smell is definitely getting more intense and I (really my wife) is very happy I have a carbon filter in the tent :) The Trainwrecks are a dank kinda fruity and sour while the SLH's are a spicey and skunky smell that leave a really cool sweet smell (almost reminds me of maple syrup although I think that's more a combination of the two plants on my fingers) on the fingers after some training..although it pains me to crush all those resin glands training must still go on!

Love your scrog mate , some true skills , hope the trainwrecks will be fine , but you right about it though , if they were pollinated so would the SLH. Keep em growing ;)

Thanks for the reassurance and the kind words bro, so far so good..I'm hoping I just got a bit of anxiety over them :P

Good Work = Nice Plants

Keep it green, man.

Thanks McRadikal, it is nice to know that the work is not only hard at times but that the results are "good" :) It takes at least 2 x as much work/time I think to maintain the scrog with 4 plants than my last grow with 8 autos!! lol ..but worth it :)

** WARNING PICTURE HEAVY UPDATE!!** :) Please scroll over the pictures for the names :)

** UPDATE** - Today is day 36 of 12/12 & flowering – The start of Week 6 – And day 85 since sprout

I really had a tough time narrowing down the pictures to a kinda manageable 34 this time, I hope I have not repeated the same picture over and over or overdone things, I have a hard time picking my favourites sometimes. I had to include another of the infamous Mr. Kush kitty who took about 30 seconds to smell out the premature trainwreck bud on the counter top that didn't have a screen hole of it's own to grow into. The funny thing is he goes for the leaves first and leaves the bud..this is the same cat that broke into the grow tent via the ventilation flap my last grow to eat the fan leaves. He has since been banned from the basement :P

Based on how far along into flowering the plants are, the length of time they were vegged, and the fact that they showed sex before 12/12, I am going to say that I made a mistake in counting flowering days. I should have simply started at the day I switched to 12/12 under the particular circumstances.

The mini - flush seems to have perked up the trainwrecks with some nice new calyx and pistil growth and the customary foxtailing has begun with the peaks starting grow above the rest of the bud. The SLH’s are still looking very perky after the mini – flush last night as well. The resin production is living up to the strains reputation by heavily coating both the buds and leaves early on and is stunning. It is fun to enjoy some sweet mango bud then stare through the 30 x jewellers lens for awhile and imagine being tiny enough to run and play amongst the resin glands lol. And with that here are my entries for the week and the pictures.

I hope everyone has a good peaceful week!

- After doing some leaf tucking and a little training of the TW’s it dawned on me that the issue with the pistils turning brown could be because of all of the training! The tops of the buds get pretty roughed up sometimes when moving them from one hole to another and reaching over them and brushing them with my hands and arms. The Tw’s have required much more training than the SLH’s and a lot of moving from one hole to the next and friction seems like it could very well be the main cause. Growth has not slowed at all and there are plenty of new calyxes and pistils still growing. If they were hermied/seeded they would be focussing their energy on seeds not more calyxes and pistils.

- Since focussing on lowering the avge and maximum lights on temperatures the plants water consumption has slowed a little and the plants are able to go 4 days for now between watering it seems. Last night temperature maxed at 26 degrees so the average would have been about 25 degrees.

Watered SLH#1 & SLH#2 each with 8.5 L each r/o +

Botanicare Cal Mag Plus @ 1.25 mL/L x 17 L = 21 mL EC: 0.49

Advanced Nutrients Sensizym @ 1.25 mL/L x 17 L = 21 mL EC: 0.02

Run-off EC = 1.65 & 1.61

Run-off pH = 5.9

- Spent a few hours and did a decent amount of defoliation on the SLH’s and most of TW#1 to get rid of lower leaves that either are restricting airflow or light to buds, and even a few upper ones that just wouldn’t be tucked and were blocking major buds. I also got rid of a few lower fans that had gotten huge but were no longer as healthy, and were not receiving as much light, these leaves are no longer producers but are sinks that are robbing energy. I did however try to leave any leaves that had a place to “live” that were not interfering with any bud sites or restricting airflow, that were healthy and obviously producing. I ended up filling a white noodle strainer with leaves and a few small slh buds that were going to end up nowhere. I will work on finishing TW#1 & TW#2 tomorrow, it’s getting late tonight. I hope they respond positively after a few days recovery.

29/03/13

- Completed defoliation of the TW’s

- Added new CO2 pad

- Noticed the bud leaves on the TW buds directly under the LEDS are a little bit lighter green than the buds not directly under the LEDS (checked with LEDS off). I raised the LED a little to spread the light out more and reduce the concentration.

- I mixed some dried REALLY early SLH buds that were trimmed off with some northern lights auto 50/50 in the volcano and was really surprised and impressed with the result, especially being at least 4 weeks early. I am really excited for them to finish and try the final product!

30/03/13 – Day 34 of 12/12 – Day 83 since sprout

- It has been 3 feeds since their 1st flush and as per Franco and Arjan’s instructions to flush a 2nd time around day 28, I’m going to give the TW’s their 2nd (mini)-flush today with a lower EC (0.9 instead of 1.2) than last time.

- It has only been 3 days since the SLH’s were fed and to my surprise and happiness they are definitely dry and ready for water a day earlier than anticipated. It seems the heavy defoliation a few days ago didn’t slow them, it did the opposite! Looking at the bud growth on them, they fattened up noticeably since last water. Since they have also had 3 feeds since last flush, they too will be “mini” flushed today.

**NOTE – I know that Franco and Arjan recommend flushing with water 2 to 3 times the volume of the container. I understand why, I agree with them, and I would do this if I were not using r/o water by the 18L bottle full and having to mix multiple 20 L buckets of water which is very time consuming to flush all 4 plants with even 18 L’s each (about 3 hours to mix and water) and involves many trips from the upstairs to the basement level. So, while I will use 2 x the volume of water with a flushing product for the final flush, I only use about 1 x the container volume for the mid-cycle flushes. While I know this is not ideal, with the medium I use that gives up the ions/salts so easily it seems to be sufficient in dissolving a significant amount of the old salts and getting the pH back to 6.0. I would like to hook up an r/o unit to the house’s water line so I did not have to fill bottles, but I rent and am not sure how long I will be here.

- Also, after reading Franco’s Tips on Flushing, I am going to try and be sure that when feeding or doing any kind of flushing and am concerned with salt build up, that water temperature is around 20 – 21 degrees so that the old salts are better removed with run-off. It seems that although 18 or 19 degrees C is ok for the roots, and may offer slightly more dissolved oxygen, a few degrees warmer could help reduce salt build-up.

- I trimmed off a fairly decent bud that really had nowhere to go. I had a look at it under my LED and was surprised to see quite a few trichomes already turning milky. After watching the TW grow sessions video again and seeing them harvest at 7 weeks due to optimal conditions I am thinking that I might want to be prepared to harvest before the catalogues 9 weeks. Looking forward to trying it out in the volcano after a short dry.

- Also watched the SLH vid as well again, and noted that according to Arjan the slh can be harvested at 8 weeks even under optimal conditions. The amount of light in the tent, the mixed spectrum of the super hps 600W with the LEDs may have something to do with this. I will keep an eye on them an early harvest would be really cool, but I will also just as well leave them go as long as they need.

- Raised the 600W hps one chain link to account for the vertical growth of the plants through the screen.

Mini flushed TW#1 & TW#2 each with 18 L r/o +

Botanicare Cal Mag Plus @ 1.25 mL/L x 18 L = 22.5 mL EC: 0.47

DNF Black (Humic acid) @ 2.5 mL/L x 18 L = 45 mL EC: 0.02

GHSC Hybrid Powderfeed @ 0.25 g/L x 18 L = 4.5 g EC: 0.41

pH: 6.0 Temperature: 21°C Total EC: 0.91

Run-off EC’s: TW#1 = 1.2 TW#2 = 1.3

Run-off pH’s: TW#1 = 6.0 TW#2 = 5.9

Mini flushed SLH#1 & SLH#2 each with 18 L r/o +

Botanicare Cal Mag Plus @ 1.1 mL/L x 18 L = 20 mL EC: 0.43

DNF Black (Humic acid) @ 2.5 mL/L x 18 L = 45 mL EC: 0.01

GHSC Sativa Powderfeed @ 0.2 g/L x 18 L = 3.6 g EC: 0.38

pH: 6.0 Temperature: 21°C Total EC: 0.82

Run-off EC’s: SLH#1 = 1.1 SLH#2 = 1.03

Run-off pH’s: SLH#1 = 6.0 SLH#2 = 6.0

Environment:

600W HPS Height: 40 cm directly below to 60 cm at edge of the canopy

LED light height: 40 - 45 cm

Temperature @ canopy- lights on: 25-26 °C

Temperature lights off: 21-22 °C

rH: 40-45% - Buds are getting denser and I want to reduce the risk of fungal attack. Also want to keep their metabolism going and keep em hungry.

that's some big update! Thanks for it man :D

and look at dem frosty ladies they look very pretty and have a strong fat stem!!

For the mid flush with 1x amount don't think it' that bad neither, of course it's not ideal but it's always better than no flush ;) and a grower aware is a grower...aware haha ;)

Have a good grow man

damn bro!!!!! nice stuff!!! I see now what you ment about looking like it`s maturing a little early, you have a large number of milky tric`s already interesting but still the plant`s look amazing and super healthy one of the nicest scrog`s I have seen In a while. both strain`s look really nice your trainwreck even has a sort of kushy looking vibe to it great stuff man.

Thanks everyone for viewing and commenting!

So I decided to remove some more small immature lower Trainwreck buds the day before yesterday. Any removed were 3 or more nodes down and in many cases the 3rd flowering node buds have been left as long as they are getting enough light and air and are showing signs of being promising..but the others imo are sucking energy from topmost buds. So I dried em for 2 days and threw them in the vaporizer about 2.5 hrs ago and I gotta say I and the wife were very pleasantly surprised by both the taste, which so far is a fruity, pine like with a bit of earthy kushness..did not expect that outta immature green bud..in fact even the 4th bag tasted good still! Oh ya..and secondly..the potency! For tiny buds that is are at least 3 weeks immature it just kept kicking and is just feeling like the tail end of the buzz is done now 2.5 hrs later and it was pretty damn strong I gotta add. The wife and I agreed that it's gonna be some really potent stuff..what amazing genetics and I'm very happy I chose this strain :)

Also cut a smallish SLH branch that was sharing a hole with another..she was the smaller with least potential so I cut her early. I will sample her in the next couple days as well and give an early sample report on it as well lol. The 2 different SLH phenos are really becoming distinctly different in the bud characteristics in a really cool way. SLH#1..in the back right hand corner in pictures with the trainwrecks in front..has flatter topped big round chunky buds, and the pistils are turning quicker on her. She was the pheno that wanted to stretch out a little more, the branches and leaf stems were longer and she wasn't as bushy.

SLH#2 was the bushy pheno that still has short leaf stems even with her big fans. She was difficult to train in the scrog because she didn't want to stretch out and make room so I had to do a lot of defoliation on her. Now, she is producing pointy topped buds that are not quite as chunky, with barely any turned pistils yet. Both strains are producing an amazing amount of resin.

I've included pics of the tiny premature TW buds..and the soon the be sampled small premature SLH bud.

Peace

hi,

very nice picture plants look really happy, your new LED should help

in any case your cat likes to be there

peace

Ya that cat was definitely a stoner in his past life! :) So far I am really happy with the new LED's, we will see what the final result is though..thanks Miminexus!

Thanks Dust. Ya the resin is building really nicely on both strains now and I have no complaints, the combination of the amazing genetics and the PF seems to be working really well :) Now if I can gently coax them towards a nice finish..

"A grower aware"....good way of putting it and I know what you mean :) Starting to keep track of run-off EC's every watering, and combining that info with what I see visually in the health/state of the plant, particularly the leaves, has really helped me to learn about how happy the plants are and whether it's time to feed or flush and to be more "aware" as you put it. But still yes..I would love to run 3 x the water through every flush ideally! :)

Thanks a lot bro, I take that as a huge compliment :) Ya there are definitely a fair number of milky trichs, more on the trainwrecks..but looking at them under the led micro there are tons of clear ones still and lots of new growth, so I'm not TOO concerned lol...maybe a 7 or 8 week harvest instead of 9..but I would like to really let these ones go as I think I've gotten nervous in the past and could have let quite a few plants go longer to maximize both yield and potency. I will just have to let things play out and see how it goes :P If by Kushy feel you mean the tightness of the buds or the shape..ya..I hear ya..I see the oversize calyxes, but not massive like some phenos, it's an interesting strain and looking on the net I found quite a few different looking examples of it. Of course, with other breeders it is hard to say that their genetics are the real deal trainwreck..or just a stand in :P

great looking growroom... amazing close shots ^^

Thanks cabay..to be honest I'm using super low-tech gear to get them. An old style 30 x jewelers glass, and my small $140 Fuji Film XP camera with built in lens..nothing special at all. It just takes a lot of patience to get the focus steady, and lots of editing and deleted pics :P

Nice work bro, nice pictures.

You will enjoy that super lemon haze for sure. Isn't the smell already wonderful ? ;)

Have a good grow man.

-Peace.

Oh bro the smell is amazing..I take it you've grown the SLH before? It is not a lot of lemon yet, from what I understand this really comes on in later weeks and even more when you break into a dried nug. But it is STRONG..skunky and spicey as well as sweet smell if you crush a few resin glands while handling them. I'm in love lol :P Thanks for the comments and good luck with your finish as well :)

Peace all :)

Thanks for the nice comments guys..it's still just premature though and hopefully time will pass quickly and I will soon be sampling the real deal :) One thing about the scrog I find is that sometimes things get really tight in areas with buds growing into each other or maybe I ran a branch in a strange direction and all the sudden bud is where I didnt think bud would be :P So I find that after about 5 or so weeks there are buds that either have nowhere to go or are being blocked by other buds to the point where they may as well be cut and sampled...that's my story and I'm sticking too it!!

Full update with pics on Sunday or Monday..I want to say Sunday..but lately when I do it proves me to be a liar :P lol

PEACE

Yes I know exactly what you are saying. From pucjing lots of leaves comes tha enormous regrowth of little stems and side branches I guess. I harvested the Misterion + the tall untouched Damnesia not long ago with the upper half of the Fimmed Damnesia. Those buds were all perfect. No fluffy stuff at all. Then I left the whole underside with the many greenish leafy buds to get more lights for another 10 days or more til i got tired of em and cit them down with the last he topped Damnesia. That was a lot more wok on trimming and about an envelope full of second grade buds. What was usuable though was first class. Esp. the two tops are among the best High Grade herbs I eva envountered. Will take some proper shots if those once they are properly cured. Lovely smell, too.

Man the Powder Feeding or giving them lots of light leads the Hybrids to get redy faster than one could expect. From loking at the buds I'd say I could harvest the AMS right now and The Church in 3 days. Checked the journal to see how long they are in flower - 5 or 6 weeks maximum ! That train Wreck majes me tippsy - The sell, the bud shape the frost ! This strain must rest another 10 days minimum imo. Just fluehed her last night and se gets only water with a bit of Final Phase like the other two girls ...

It seems something in the feeding reduces the overall growing schedule up to a good 2 weeks . I think you could reap the TW next weekend and the SLH in 2 weeks time approximately.

Maybe I am wrong, but I hate lazy weed that was in flower too long.

Jeep us informed with close ups and macros. Wanna know if i was right...

Thanks for the kind words Fede_MDP :) They are exceeding my expectations as well..definitely in resin production! And I am very careful with the cat now thanks lol :)

Bam I want to reply to your post properly when I get some more time but for now I will say thanks again..I need to get my update up lol :) :)

**WEEKLY UPDATE!! ** It has now been approximately 6 weeks since 12/12 began, and 92 days since they sprouted from seed :)

We are quickly coming to the end, much quicker than I expected!! Can you say holy genetics and Powderfeed batman!! I was well prepared to go right to the catalogue times for flowering and exceed them if need be to get them to just the right ripeness for my liking...and they go and make a fool of me ripening so nice and quickly :) :) I will let the journal entries for the week say the rest as well as the pictures. I apologize that I did not get many macros this time, I was not having a good day for patience and my camera skills showed for it :P FLUSH TIME REAL SOON AND NOT MUCH LONGER TO HARVEST NOW!!

Freedom to speak, freedom to grow..PEACE

- got the rH got all the way down to 35% over the past couple of days. I would prefer it around 40% - 45%..35 is a little too low yet, but maybe I am just being picky/anal.

- Wanted to start using Advanced Nutrients Overdrive this watering, but when I opened the bottle that was still ½ full from last grow, and put 5 mL in the 17 L of water I could see what looked like moss almost, so I smelled the bottle and it was definitely not right. I dumped the 17 L and started fresh, and then dumped the remaining Overdrive into a glass measuring cup to see what was up. To my surprise there was some leaf matter and little root colonies kind of like potato “eyes”!! I should have taken a picture but I was in a hurry and had to re-start the mixing of the water and nutes all over :P I’m pretty sure I cross contaminated it somehow with something dirty and it reminds me to be more careful about cleanliness and cross contamination. Going to pick up a new bottle, the Trainwrecks will not probably only get 2 waters with it now before flushing but it should help with the finish if the results from past grows are repeated. The SLH’s will benefit the most with a later harvest date. I may also hit them with a little DNF Bloom Fortifier the combination of the two worked well with the autos at the end of the last grow.

- Watered SLH’s with 8.5 liters each r/o water +

Botanicare Cal Mag Plus @ 1.18 mL/L x 17 L = 20 mL EC: 0.47

Advanced Nutrients Sensizym @ 1 mL/L x 17 L = 17 mL EC: 0.02

DNF Carbo Logic @ 0.3 g/L x 17 L = 5.1 g

DNF Pine Oil additive @ 0.75 mL/L x 17 L = 12 mL EC: 0.03

GHSC Sativa Powderfeed @ 0.35 g/L x 17 L = 6 g EC: 0.58

Potassium Silicate @ 0.07 mL/L x 17 L = 1.25 mL EC: 0.03

pH: 6.2 Temperature: 21 °C Total EC: 1.13

Run-off EC = #1 – 1.42 #2 = 1.41

Run-off pH = #1 – 5.9 #2 = 5.9

Watered TW #1 & TW#2 each with 8.5 L each r/o +

Botanicare Cal Mag Plus @ 1.5 mL/L x 17 L = 25 mL EC: 0.63

Advanced Nutrients Sensizym @ 1.5 mL/L x 17 L = 25 mL EC: 0.02

DNF Carbo Logic @ 0.3 g/L x 17 L = 5.1 g EC: 0

GHSC Hybrid Powderfeed @ 0.57 g/L x 17 L = 9.7 g EC: 0.89

DNF Pine Oil additive @ 0.9 mL/L x 17 L = 15 mL EC: 0.04

Potassium Silicate @ 0.07 mL/L x 17 L = 1.25 mL EC: 0.03

pH: 6.2 Temperature: 21°C Total EC: 1.61

Run-off EC = #1 – 1.98 #2 – 2.07

Run-off pH = #1 – 5.8 #2 – 5.8

06/04/13 – Day 41 of 12/12 – Day 90 since sprout

- Raised the lights again one link, about 2.5 cm’s.

- I’m going to start giving the SLH’s some 0-50-30 at a lower rate than the Trainwrecks, and I’m not giving the Trainwrecks the full recommended dosage for soiless of 5 mL/ 22.7 L (0.22 mL/L) – that’s excessive I think. The SLH’s will get 0.08 mL/L & the TW’s 0.11 mL/L which is the recommended hydro dosage. The SLH’s also will get OD @ at ½ strength 1 mL/L – the additives will be added and then the Powderfeed will be adjusted down for any extra EC added by them. The harvest of the SLH’s is a little further away so they are harder to plan the harvest. Right now I am thinking they will be cut at 9 weeks flowering, meaning they probably have 4 more feeds before flushing with DNF Clear starts, and roughly 23 days until harvest. That could quickly change though as I monitor them with the micros pretty much daily now.

- Looking at a couple of small bud leaves I cut to examine under the LED micro I am completely amazed by the amount of resin glands, it is very hard to imagine unless you have grown this strain before I think. There are so many in spots that they have merged together. At this point glands are about 75 - 85% or more milky or turning milky with some beautiful tall, clear, reflective, super shiny sativa glands that I wish I could capture an image of! I’m not seeing any amber yet on the SLH’s, but I am sure they are not far off. The hairs on SLH#2 are turning and drawing in and the calyxes are swelling nicely..I’m thinking she might be harvested before SLH#1 whose hairs are starting to turn but are still very white.

**** SUPER THIRSTY LADIES!!** THEY’RE VERY DRY AFTER ONLY 3 DAYS SINCE LAST WATER

Watered SLH’s with 8.5 liters each r/o water +

Botanicare Cal Mag Plus @ 1.18 mL/L x 17 L = 20 mL EC: 0.50

Advanced Nutrients Sensizym @ 1 mL/L x 17 L = 17 mL EC: 0.03

DNF Bloom Fortifier @ 0.08 mL/L x 17 L = 1.25 mL EC: 0.07

Advanced Nutrients Overdrive @ 1 mL/L = 17 mL EC: 0.18

GHSC Sativa Powderfeed @ 0.2 g/L x 17 L = 3.4 g EC: 0.34

Potassium Silicate @ 0.07 mL/L x 17 L = 1.25 mL EC: 0.03

pH: 6.2 Temperature: 20 °C Total EC: 1.14

Run-off EC = #1 – 1.51 #2 = 1.57

Run-off pH = #1 – 5.7 #2 = 5.8

- Gonna hit the TW’s hard once with the 0-50-30 @ 0.11 mL/L, and the Overdrive @ ¾ strength 1.5 mL/L and see if it boosts their weight a little, I maybe should have tried this a few weeks ago but I didn’t count on such an early harvest. I think this may be the last feeding before flush time with the Clear starts, possibly one more – plans right now are to harvest the Trains in the next 14-17 days, which would be 7.5 – 8 weeks flowering, not bad for a 9 week catalogue strain, especially when I am counting their flowering days right from the 1st day of 12/12. I know Bam was saying maybe 7 days (meaning only 46 days from the day I put them into 12/12) but I am not seeing any amber trichs yet on the flowers, so far only on seeing them mainly on the leaves, and I’m seeing a bunch of fresh green calyx growth so I think I can push them another 14 days and get the full potency and yield. I must be maturing a little bit as a grower because I no longer am jumping up and down like a kid at Christmas thinking of an early harvest lol..I don’t mind taking the time to let them fully ripen..although stash is getting awfully low.

- To add to the above, I think I’m starting to wrap my mind around the combination of factors that have lead to such a speedy flowering (other than awesome genetics!) & even the need for less nutrients (nute concentration, EC, NOT amount of different nutes used lol). This is my theory and it could be wrong!

  • GHSC Powderfeed – DO I NEED TO SAY MORE??
  • Root growth has been very vigorous with the combination of the airy rockwool grow chunks & high porosity Pro-Mix + the 2 x application of the ZHO root inoculant w/micorrhizae & trichoderma bacteria. A good healthy root zone with all of that benefical fungal and bacterial activity enhances nutrient uptake and growth. Plus this medium combo seems to give up nutrients readily to the plant resulting in less nutrients needed.
  • Lots of light & varied spectrum – 600 W Super HPS Hortilux bulb + the 4 new and improved design & component LED panels. Sunshine Systems rates them as the equivalent of 250W HPS each which would mean I have the equivalent output of 1600W in the tent, but I really don’t know how they came up with that number (250W hps) as a comparison, and my gut tells me this claim might be exaggerated.
  • Advanced Nutrients Sensizym..here is an excerpt about enzymes from http://www.house-gar...ymes-in-plants/ – “An enzyme is an organic substance made up of amino acids, proteins, or RNA. Enzymes carry out specific chemical reactions by acting as catalysts, speeding up reactions tremendously and lowering the amount of activation energy required by the plant for these processes. Therefore delivering enzymes to your plants promotes increased growth and helps sustain beneficial microorganisms”

- Those are just some thoughts, and I’m not sure how accurate they are. I also saw a Lumatek digital 1000W – 600W ballast on sale online for $289 that would also improve the system lol…but there’s no extra money for that when I have to purchase a small tent & fan/filter combo for drying. For anyone reading, yes I actually am still running an old school gets hot as hell style 600W solid core ballast. It is probably the weakest link and the next item to be upgraded in the system. At least I already rewired it with a digital ballast style plug socket for easy plug into the light socket cord & cool tube, and I can just plug it into a digital/electronic one when I do get it.

- For anyone interested who is not familiar with the advantages of an electronic or digital ballast here are a few of them:

  • Fires both HPS and MH lamps
  • 15% – 20% more lumen output
  • Higher efficiency means very little heat produced
  • Bulbs last longer
  • Failure rate is very low

Watered TW #1 & TW#2 each with 8.5 L each r/o +

Botanicare Cal Mag Plus @ 1 mL/L x 17 L = 17 mL EC: 0.42

DNF Bloom Fortifier @ 0.11 mL/L x 17 L = 2 mL EC: 0.11

Advanced Nutrients Overdrive @ 2 mL/L x 17 mL = 34 mL EC: 0.43

DNF Carbo Logic @ 0.3 g/L x 17 L = 5.1 g

GHSC Hybrid Powderfeed @ 0.2 g/L x 17 L = 3.4 g EC: 0.32

Potassium Silicate @ 0.11 mL/L x 17 L = 2 mL EC: 0.04

pH: 6.2 Temperature: 21°C Total EC: 1.34

Run-off EC = #1 – 2.0 #2 – 2.02

Run-off pH = #1 – 5.6 #2 – 5.7

07/04/13

- soo cool..there are 2 brand new shoots coming out of the top of SLH#2 buds that had stopped growing new growth on the top awhile back and whose calyxes had closed up and pistils drawn into.

600W HPS Height: 50 cm – raised lights a little as there is fresh new calyx growth that I don’t want to burn and I think they have plenty of intensity with all of the lights in there.

LED light height: 50 cm

Temperature @ canopy- lights on: 25-26 °C

Temperature lights off: 20-21°C

rH: 35-45% - keeping it nice and low to reduce the risk of fungus and to boost metabolism
