"Smokeys" 4 strain auto grow *COMPLETE* [TOTAL YIELD 686 grams] - Powderfeed + 600W HPS + 4 x LED

Recommended Posts

Hello hunters!! SCA#1 harvested!! Main group of 4 are @ 74 days from seed & flushed, Big Bang auto is @ 60 days from seed. The fine GHSC genetics are shining as bright as the trichomes on these amazing strains, thank you Greenhouse!!

Updates are going to change a little now that harvesting has started. I will continue to post the weekly journal entries but pictures will most often focus on whatever plant/s were harvested last, with a few pictures of the remaining plants :) They will all get their time in the spotlight once they are harvested lol. I hope you enjoy the bud porn, please bear with the tons of info, and please scroll over the pictures for the names, feel free to comment or ask any questions, and enjoy this week’s journal entries!  I'm thinking it will only be a couple of days before another plant is harvested so stay tuned for more updates before the week is up :)

Peace and have a wonderful week!

Did a trichome check on SCA#1 and she has plenty of milky trichomes and is starting to get more amber ones. Her leaves are also yellowing fairly fast and she is getting some reddish colours to the edges of her bud leaves as they fade. I am still unsure whether I will harvest her in a few days or whether she will get one more plain r/o water first, the next couple of days will tell.

Both the SCA#2 and SMA#2 plants that were flushed also have nicely yellowing leaves.

The outdoor weather conditions are co-operating for now as things have been much cooler allowing tent conditions to improve as well.

Day cycle temp over past 18 hrs maxed = 26.7°C *rH = 48 %

Night cycle temp min = 22 °C *rH = 54%

* I’m not sure if I mentioned this or not before but the rH is taken at the base of the tent where it is the highest because I want to know the most “extreme” condition the plants could be subjected too. As you move upwards it drops by as much as 5 - 10% when you measure it above the HPS light. This is also true with the temperature. When the maximum is 27 °C just above the canopy and below the HPS, at the base of the tent it is usually about 24 °C.

I think and have read that it’s generally a good idea to check both the rH and the temperature at different areas of the tent because they can vary, and pay particular attention to the conditions at canopy level.

02/08/2013 - Main group of 5 plants are @ 71 days from seed & Big Bang auto is 56 days from seed

After what will be 55 days (7 weeks and 5 days) since she first showed sex I’ve decided it is time to harvest the Super Critical auto #1 plant (that was flushed 13 days ago) tomorrow before the lights come on. She is the smaller of the two SCA’s, but most pistils have turned, and there is little new growth and her smell is powerful! It is difficult to describe as it is complex and she is surrounded by different strains so I will have to wait to get her alone. She has faded nicely with many fan leaves having been removed because of complete yellowing and the using up of chlorophyll, plus the 13 day flush, and using a flushing product for the first big final flush should ensure a smooth, clean final product. Even the “sugar” leaves and buds have really faded, with some nice reddish coloring starting on some of the upper bud leaves and she is much paler overall. Checking the trichomes 2 nights ago and the ratio was about 15% amber/25% clear/60% milky. I know it could go a little longer and wait for more amber trichs, and this probably won’t lead to a couch-like type effect that some seek from indica dominant strains, but that is ok. Because I am going to have mainly indica dominant bud I would like to have some that isn’t as heavy and hopefully allows me to function while still helping with pain since I can’t be sleeping all day :P I took a few pictures then removed all fan leaves on her in preparation for harvest tomorrow. She is pretty dry though after 4 days since last water and I hope she can go one more day because I need to set up the drying room and switch A/C unit around blah blah etc. etc. Hopefully defoliation totally slows her transpiration down and she will be fine.

Gave the Super Critical auto #2 & Sweet Mango #2 each 11 L of r/o water + 1 L of tap water to allow measurement of & adjust pH @. This is SCA#2’s 1st plain r/o watering since her big flush of 45 L, and SMA#2’s 2nd water since her big flush and it will most likely be her last before harvesting in about 4 days.

OK since I got the watering done so quickly I decided I’m going to bring the large A/C unit downstairs, move the small one to the upstairs “drying room” aka the spare bedroom that holds the small drying tent, move the small 4 inch inline fan/filter combo and attach it to the dry tent, and move the SCA#1 plant there into darkness until tomorrow when I will harvest her. This should REALLY slow or stop any transpiration and keep her from drying out in the flowering tent overnight because her soiless is really getting dry.

This will also allow me to better cool the basement where the grow tent is, as well as cool and dehumidify the drying room. But it’s lots of work..good thing I have lots of weed :) :)

03/08/2013 – HARVEST & MORE FLUSHING DAY!

SCA#1 Harvest: Alright it’s time to chop the first flushed plant, Super Critical #1 which grew for 72 days from seed to finish. I cut a small sample from her lower parts a few days ago and after having sampled her I am VERY happy with the results, better than I expected out of the little test bud; flavour & aroma, smoothness, potency & effect are all very good and with better buds and a little curing it can only improve. The effect is still very cerebral (which is normal for fresh cut uncured but) but already gives a nice body buzz as well. Yield is the only thing I would have liked to have been a little better with her as she is probably the smallest plant of the bunch but as for quality I don’t think I could ask for much better!

Environment conditions have really improved using the bigger air conditioner. This morning when I checked on them close to the end of their “lights on” time, the maximum temperature directly below the 600W and just above the canopy maxed at 25.8° C and it was 23 °C at the floor of the tent. As well the rH was at 47% at the base of the tent (about 44% at the top of the canopy). These conditions are MUCH better for the end of flowering than waking up to check on them and seeing 28°C :P

The smaller A/C unit will now be set-up in the drying room to help maintain proper drying conditions.

TIME TO FLUSH ANOTHER 2 LADIES!!

Northern Lights auto - In 7 days it will be 8 weeks flowering time for the Northern Lights auto plant and she is definitely showing signs of being almost done, and she will be done almost on schedule. I’ve checked the resin glands and there are a good number of amber and yellow (the yellow ones are really cool) trichomes, approximately 10%, and I want to flush her with plans of harvesting her in the next 10 – 12 days or so. For being the “runt” of the litter and struggling at the start she sure surprised me and has gotten really frosty, has a sour/fruity, spicy smell that comes through clearly despite the other plants. Even the yield should be half decent, but not necessarily what you might expect from a bigger pot.

Sweet Mango auto #1– This is one unique lady in appearance compared to the rest of the 4 SMA seeds I got outta the 5-pack. She also is the last of the four “7 week flowering” plants to be flushed and is anywhere from 7 – 13 days behind the other’s. This is fine though as she has really grown a giant dense main cola and has some really unique features to her bud structure that can be noticed in the pictures. She is leafy, but has lots of chunky bud with blown up calyxes with those leaves. It will be interesting to see how she changes with the flush.

Flushed the Northern Lights auto #2 plant, & Sweet Mango #1 plant, each with 30 L tap water @

ppm:330

pH: 6.0

Temperature: 21 ° C.

The water is left out for 24 – 48 hrs to allow chlorine to dissipate.

They were then each flushed with an additional 15 L r/o water +

Plant Run-off pH Run-off EC/ppm

SMA #1 6.0 0.45/ 320

NLA 6.1 0.47/330

04/08/13

4:30 pm24 hrs after SCA#1 chop - Drying room conditions currently are 17°C, and rH is 52%. The temperature is a little cool and might slow the drying down too much so I’m going to raise the temperature to about 19 – 20 ° C and try and maintain about 50% rH, at least for the 1st three days and then I might lower the temperature by a couple of degrees and raise rH to around 55 – 60% (no higher or risk of mold increases significantly) to help slow them down a little and break down all the chlorophyll and pigments properly for a smoother better tasting smoke.

Added a new CO2 pad to the flowering tent.

05/08/13

48 hrs after SCA#1 chop - To ensure that drying conditions are as close to perfect as possible and maximize the potential of the end final product I reluctantly broke down and pulled out the credit card and purchased a 2nd small 30 - pint dehumidifier specifically for the drying room since it is 2 floors up from the grow level :P I don’t like spending more money on electrical appliances that will cost me money to use but what has cheered me up about the purchase is that between it and the small A/C unit I’ve been able to consistently maintain rH @ 50% (+/- 3%), & temperature 20°C (+/- 1°). Tomorrow after 72 hrs initial drying I will consider raising rH & lowering temperature slightly depending on how dry the buds are. So now both the grow room, and dry room each have an A/C & dehumidifier to keep conditions as close to optimum as possible. SMELL IS INTENSE and very sharp, fruity yet sour and dank, complex and will change quickly.

The other 4 flushed plants continue to ripen and fade nicely, and right now it is looking like the 2nd SCA plant is fading and ripening really fast and will most likely be harvested tomorrow or the next day after about an 11 day flush.

Environmental conditions

Day cycle temp over past 17 hrs maxed = 26°C *rH 50 %

Night cycle temp min = 19 °C *rH = 44%

Thank you very much for the awesome vibes and comments everyone..they are much appreciated. It is nice to know that I can create my own medicine and document it helping others whether it is with info, or entertainment   I WILL BE POSTING BOTH A SCA#2 HARVEST POST AND SCA#1 DRYING UPDATE ASAP. I am just about to harvest the 1st Sweet Mango plant, possibly my favorite plant in the tent, and you will soon see why!

Peace

hi,

nice harvest!!!beautiful plants once out of the aunt !!!

the bud seems compact and shiny

PEACE

I think you meant out of the tent..but I know what you are sayin bro :) Thanks so much again for visiting and the nice words Mimi!

Well done bro, nice pictures.

They look very nice and seems to enjoy the big pots.

Have a nice end of grow and a nice harvest.

-Peace.

Thanks Ghost, you have some beautiful ladies yourself :) I think with the BBA I really figured out how to maximize root growth and use of the big containers and hope that future grows will show what I've learned from experimenting with bigger containers with autoflowers. I might even do one more auto grow right after this one since everythings fresh and I want to stock up so I can grow some regular seeds and have enough stash to cure the regular harvest for at least 3 months b4 touching it. But this is hard with my love of the stuff LOL I think I need more room and more plants :P

Haha thanks bro  I like your enthusiasm and while I too don't always get a chance to comment on your awesome work I am always checking out every new post of yours!! I like to be precise with things..to the point of being uh humm..anal about shit lol..but in the end it seems to work for me. Let me emphasize bro..Y0U HAVE TO TRY THE MANGO!! Now I'm yellin at you and hear me right bro..give it a go all phenos have been amazing.

Your plant are bushy man and your buds are beautifull, dense and crystally. Gread job! :good:

Thanks Jango_dab..there's always room for improvement but I'm very happy with these strains and the Powderfeed results again :)

HELLO HUNTERS!! Thank you everyone for coming along for my second attempt at autos, and I VERY much appreciate all of the nice comments and encouragement, I have enjoyed this grow so much I may do one more auto grow after this one before going back to photos, but first this one needs to finish!!

The plants have continued to come down at my place (3 in total now) and the smell has been going up up up!! The smell has been phenomenal and can barely be contained even with the use of a carbon filter, and the combination of now the Sweet Mango and the Super Critical auto plants drying together has been special to say the least. Waking up to that smell every morning is better to me than the smell of coffee and always brings a huge smile no matter how tired I am.

Lots has been happening, so I’m going to update you in 2 separate posts, and hopefully it is not overload. This first post includes journal info from the 6th to the 9th as well as pictures of some SCA#1 bud after 6 days of drying, pictures of the Super Critical auto #2 harvest, and the SCA#2, 72 hours after harvest.

The 2nd post will be of the Sweet Mango #2 plant harvest and journal entries but may not be complete until tomorrow as pictures need to be sorted and named etc. Please scroll over the pictures for the names as always.

I have been extremely happy once again with GHSC genetics and the Powderfeed and I hope the bud porn makes you happy as well, as always there is a lot of it, had to include a picture of the infamous Kush, our weed-leaf loving cat :) Comments and questions are always welcome and more updates will continue as the plants are harvested.

Peace & health

I was considering harvesting SMA#2 as it has been 12 days since her flush, but while she is really yellowing nicely in some areas, and pretty much almost ripe with about a 5/65/30, Amber/Milky/Clear resin gland ratio. I want to give her one more plain r/o water to really get as much green outta her as possible before harvest, and 3 or 4 more days should only improve her I think.

07/08/2013 – HARVEST DAY FOR SUPER CRITICAL #2 @ 78 days from seed

SCA#2 is one chunky budded lady!! She flowered for 61 days from the days she showed sex, and was first flushed 11 days with Dutch Nutrient Formula Clear and has only had r/o water since. Also, for 2 waterings the week before that, she did not have stronger than 0.78 EC enabling a quicker more efficient flush. I was thinking of giving her just water once more but it takes her about 5 days to dry out and that is a little longer than I want her to go. Her calyxes are super swollen and bulbous with the majority of pistil hairs drawn in, that plus the fox-tailing reminds me of Trainwreck a little, and I would love to know the genetics responsible for this :)

Oh man she is sooo stinky!! A much more sour/skunky smell than the other SCA, still has some fruity undertones but the sour skunk is powerful!! And even with the carbon filter running in the drying room it still is throughout the house. I’m really anxious to try this pheno. She didn’t have tons of trichomes on crawling up the top of her bud leaves but underneath and along the sides of the “sugar” leaves there are plenty. The bud itself is full of resin and under 30 x LED micro I would say there is about 10 – 15% amber trichomes indicating to me that it should be good for what I’m looking for. While it won’t knock me out I will be able to use it during the daytime for medicine and if I remember from the last ones I grew if I hit just a little more at night it will be lights out and a good night sleep :) Besides, I still have 3 more strains to go, 2 of which are fairly heavy on the indica side.

4:30 pm - put SCA#1 buds into a paper bag, still on stems to sweat out a little moisture as they are drying a bit faster than I want. Today has been hot and humid overtaxing the small A/C and the dehumidifier causing conditions to be less than ideal w/ temperature at 23°C & rH at 55%.

SCA#1-After 6 days of drying the SCA#1 buds are ready to begin jar curing and have filled more jars than I expected, a good sign for yield which will be determined in about a week. I will be opening and checking the jars 2 – 3 x per day, for anywhere from 10 – 30 mins, usually to de-gas and check for moisture. The benefit of many colas (depending how you look at it) on an LST’d plant is that you don’t have a massive cola that takes a long time to dry but many medium sized ones that dry more evenly and quickly. Initial tests in the volcano have been VERY promising with a very energetic sativa like initial buzz that picks you up but still mentally relaxes you. It then moves more into the body and even though very fresh and in need of curing for maximum potency (and it is already very potent even fresh) and body effect, it still already helps a lot with pain which is one of the great benefits to me of growing this strain besides the amazing smell and flavor that it gains after about 2 weeks of curing.

SCA#2 - Drying room conditions have been good over the past couple of days with temperature ranging from 18 – 20°C and rH from 50 – 55% as she continues to dry 48 hrs after harvest

Lovely lad! Congrats on another blessing :D

Pretty lil feline as well :)

Many thanks again, more to come :) Ya he was a stray that turned into the most personable cat I've ever had, and he LOVES weed leaves, not the buds, just the leaves haha

congratz on the dry buds pics man looking very nice! :) well the living plants are fo course looking great too ;)

Thanks for the news man!

THanks Dust, I know what you mean though, there is an amazing huge Big bang auto in the tent still that may end up my favorite plant but right now much of the attention is on the harvested and closest to finishing plants :)

Nice budporn dude!

It´s been a pleasure looking at these pictures, Awesome results as always!!!

Hi Sweede :) It really makes me happy that you enjoyed them, and it has definitely been a pleasure growing them. I still can't get over how quickly everything happens with these autos!!

Peace

Looking great brother. It´s the typical Auto crit look. You done well. Make sure you give them a proper dry to make sure to get the best of taste. I did not like the taste that much, was plain. But i did find a pheno that was kind of fruity and nice.

She is the heaviest auto i have tried up to date. Powerful stone that can take up the fight with the most well known of Indicas.

She is also a great yielder that gave me 184g on the biggest of them

Have "fun" with her and get back to us after you tried her.

Peace

Ya bro I got lucky with phenos, and maybe there isn't a bad Super C. auto pheno? I dunno but outta 5 beans I was only unhappy with the one plant from the 1st grow but looking back on it it grew great, just the taste/smell coulda been better, but to be honest I think I made a few mistakes with that one and it was most likely my fault, not the genetics. I'm thinking of doing up one more auto grow after this one before I go back to regular photo plants and if I do i will most likely grow a few Super C. autos again and will have a few extra beans if you want em. I had a few problems with the Northern Lights autos this crop, one didn't germinate which is why I planted the Big Bang auto, and the 2nd was a runt at the start for some reason and didn't develop a very big root zone so I'm not expecting a high yield from her. BUT the quality is pretty impressive still with tons of resin, very compact tight buds, and an awesome smell that is 1/3 sour sweaty onion (lol..best I can think of to describe it, and it's a good thing), 1/3 fruity and 1/3 green pepper corns, pretty interesting stuff! Thanks man..and congrats on your harvest, your patience paid off with a damn nice yield for soil + size of pots + lights combo..that's skill right there!! :)

hi,

very nice picture as usual. and your cat look to love the smell !!! peace

Thanks bro :) Ya he is in love with the leaves, goes crazy for them :P

184 grams!! WOW bro, that's a crazy auto plant!! Pictures? Was she outdoors? Size pot? medium?...instructional video maybe? lol..respect brother

I think I could have gone a little longer with the 1st super c auto if I had wanted. From initial tests though she is very powerful even still, and because I did not let her go longer I can use it during the day and still function..kinda :P I have only tried the SCA#1 so far, and only in the volcano so for purists who are smokers only I can't give an accurate smoke report just yet. But very soon!! All I can say again is STRONG STRONG stuff that I think would knock casual smokers on their ass. It is very smooth, and for smell and taste, it is complex and developing but is sort of flowery/fruity/lemon and includes a little of that interesting sea salt smell and taste, but it's early still. The SCA#2 plant is very different and so damn sour it's crazy! I can't wait to try her and I will give proper reports once ready.

PEACE AND THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE VIEWS AND COMMENTS!! :bye:

OK so here is the 3rd plant harvested, the Sweet Mango auto #2. She is so far my favorite plant harvested out of the three. The scissors ended up full of skunky citrus/mango resin over and over again very quickly as we trimmed and I'm looking forward to making bubble hash out of the trim :) In 2 days the 2nd Mango auto plant, and the Northern lights auto plant will come down with both looking very well faded after 13 days since their big flush.

Here are the pictures and journal entries up to yesterday, please enjoy!

PEACE

10/08/13 – HARVEST DAY FOR SWEET MANGO #2 @ 81 days from seed

After 16 days since final flush and then only reverse osmosis water since it is time to flush what might be my favourite plant out of the bunch. She has turned a lot of different shades of color and is definitely ripe. When I have taken dead leaves off since flushing I often get resin on my fingers and oh man oh man it is one of the most incredible sweet mango/orange smells on top of a bit of skunk you could imagine!! I will say it again, THIS IS AN AWARD WINNING STRAIN!! And I will continue to grow her in the future :)

One more feed for the Big Bang auto plant then I think it will be flush time for her but we will see. Hairs are turning and she is gaining both weight and resin quickly.

4 days after SCA#2 harvest I’ve begun putting the drier buds into a paper bag to slow down drying a little. After another day or two they will go into jars to begin the curing process.

SCA#1 buds are developing a nice complex aroma of sweet/skunky lavender with a sea salt background which reminds me of the first Super Critical auto plants I grew.

Added new CO2 producing pad.

12/08/13

24 hours after putting the SCA#2 buds into paper bags I returned from work, opened the bags and was assaulted by the most wonderful sour rhubarb-like smell!! It is still skunky/sweet but the sour is the predominant smell by far. It will be interesting to see how a little jar curing treats her.

I just vaped a bowl of lower smallish SCA#1 buds that have been cut for 9 days and man already it is great to relax the body/mind and for pain. I can’t wait to get into the bigger buds once she is cured longer. I always use up the lower grade stuff first and work my way to the best of the bud towards the end of the jars so that the best bud gets the longest and best possible cure.

Save the BEST for last hey :D!

Ummm...Mouth watering???!!

Wow, that fade :D!

Thanks :D

Bless

Haha ya bro thanks my friend!! She is so far my favorite lady of the bunch on pretty much every level except yield. Her sister SMA#1 is gonna beat her on that..wait until you see the size of her main cola bro, almost twice the size of the already harvested one..but she is not as frosty or as fragrant, so we will see!! Glad you like the fade man..decided I needed to kick up my flushing a notch ;)

And keep that multi-strain garden of yours wonderful bro ;) You've got some beauties in there!

Peace

BTW man..had to edit this reply multiple times..just testing the 1st of the SMA#2 in the volcano and holy shit got me f*ckered..only 4 days old too, can't wait to cure this baby
