Frisian Dew turned out male!

Hi,

our friends nearly had a mindblowing experience today: in their outdoor field of Frisan Dew from Dutch Passion one plant was full blown MALE! Since they are growing completely guerilla style they came back after 3 weeks to check the field and they found one Frisian Dew 3 meters high with thousands of full blown male flowers. 2 oder 3 days later the whole field would have been worthless! So they could plug the male and they hope no pollen has been spread. :suicide:

But this is really strange: no hermi but real male! How can this happen with feminized seeds??

feminized seeds arent all going to be female.. techniques used today can guarantee a pretty high % of female, but youll never get 100% female.

what you have there is worth its weight in gold, if you know how to use it

you mean pollinating some female buds and have female seeds then?

if your male came from feminized seeds, then crossing it back with the females of those seeds will create a staminate batch of seeds for that strain, and should breed true.

yes, maybe, it came from a commercial batch of Frisian Dew - it is only available feminized. It should but you never know what this is. I personally have the feeling, it was a regular male.....we could try to collect some pollen in a safe place and do some insemination but it is risky and the outcome not sure. I have seen hermies from femized seeds but never a full blown early male like this.

like sukonmi said even with feminized seeds the ratio of female is more around 98- 99% than a 100% for sure, so indeed perhaps your friend just got their hand on the 1% missing, but if they pulled it in time pretty much, even if they have a very few seeds in the buds hopefully it will not polute all the batch :)

For producing female seeds good breeders as parents use only tested clones of pure female plants. If feminization was making with out testing from spontaneity plant it is can give some hermaphrodite or male plants as result. This is show good or bad work of breeder.

Are you sure this is for complete full blown males also? Dutch Passion denies it, they say only hermies are possible.

if you have any males in femnised is because the mother that becomes the father (with sts) it wasnt a true female. that is due to bad selection of the parents. nothing more nothing less. i am not a feminised fan but if the mother father used are good enough. the offspring is actually hermie free not 98% not 99 i mean free!

only big fucked ups can bring you few nanas and probably with no polen
