basic simple growth medium question

yeah we are all reservedly  excited at the likely out come. I will swing by there in a few days to scope and help w/ flushing these and the 9 weekers. (patient has bad Neck issues (screws plate nerve issues the hole enchilada) so hes not hauling r/o and lifting anything like heavy.

I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone here. It means much to me to see people getting a new skill and access to an ample amount of organic meds they can live with at a reasonable cost rather than spend their lives in a opiate induced stupor and/or in constant fear that some insurance company or governmental ah ... fuckheads?, are going to cut them off or make them dance through hoops. It means so much to me to be a part of making that happen and I want to give it up for ya'll for giving me the opportunity to do so.

FOR PEAT'S SAKE....

Even if your cuckcoo for coir you might what to take another look at some of peats wonderful world.

Sooo...Here is a link from the Canadian Sphagnum Peat Moss Association.

and Finally since we chatted about pH - flushing and because it ties in so well here I am providing a link about what really goes on down under your plants and what that piss that leaks out can really tell you about your plants nutritional base

cut LAC and Train today and gave it a country trim and left stem for hanging.

post-35614-0-22739600-1422720209.jpg

the Train weighed in right at 600g and the LAC came in at 536g

after 5 days in the air at 68f and 45 - 50 % hum (its been raining here) the pk came in with 258g and the grape weighed in just at 198g

the HAZE and BD took their first flush and are looking like they will need at least 2 more weeks as they are still clear and sparkling with few dark hairs comparatively.

The dream has some nice sized colas and are only going to get bigger.

TRAIN @ 8.5 weeks

LAC @ 8.5 weeks

heres another cool link. this one is from N.C.State on pour through methodology ( Flushing) it is cited in one of the above papers

http://www.pourthruinfo.com/

I thought this particular statement was quite compelling and argues against the knee jerk practice of zealous liming of substrates.

The substrate pH is very important to plant nutrition. The pH directly affects plant nutrient availability especially micronutrients.

Low pH can result in increased micronutrient availability which can lead to phytotoxicities in some
plants. For example, a low pH (< 5.) can result in iron and / or manganese toxicity in geraniums and
marigolds. In contrast, high pH (>6.2) can lead to micronutrient (iron) deficiencies in petunias and azaleas; and boron deficiency in salvia, petunias, and pansies. Both excessively low and high pH’s should be avoided in greenhouse production

Most greenhouse crops grow best at pH 5.4 to 6.2, but some crops such as azaleas and hydrangeas prefer an acidic substrate while others such as Easter lilies aregrown at a higher pH."

The fact of the matter is most pre bagged "high quality" potting or seeding mixes are simply of to high of  a pH to be considered optima. they almost always should be lowered through organic or elemental means.

this medium produced a pretty good 1st run for the patient and a good learning experience for this caregiver.

the BD gave up nearly 1000g  of hang able material to the drying process and in addition the Haze not shown produced roughly 3/4 of that

the first 1/2 of the run gave up a standard measurable  portion (and then some) of dried meditative material of IMHO  awesome quality. I expect more from these fully ripened 10 weekers

BD before flush

before trim (see size relation to patients head)

colas

side branch

quite a handful

typical secondary cola

yeah patient has a day surg tomorrow so it will be sun or monday before we start the finishing cycle.

the trichs are just starting to turn and have ironically a sort of pinkish tint.

with w 10 day finish they should be fully ripe and result in some really stony produce.

tweeking on the dry process now as we have had high temps and around 35 humidity the last few days.

just trying to slow down the initial dry now with the use of a cool water humidifier, louvering and some non absorbent sheeting in the cedar dry room.

OK heres the Soma lavender. she should provide about 150+ g dry produce with wonderful purple blue bracts and leaves. fully covered with CSGTs from which come a wonderful floral scents. this should give a really wonderful effect. I  did some sissor hash and it was really sweet perfumie and gave a kickassed stone. that cured bud should be a real pleasure to partake of.\

so thats the end of this cycle the medium held really nicely. the first fllushes effluent mostly gave up Null to the high TDS (over 3 on my blue lab truncheon) and 7+ pH readings. the soils themselves read about 6.8(ish) at the finish

the second came in at 7.1ph and about 200 TDS of the effluent

the only real change (other than basic recharging) will be to add in a fair quantity of perlite and EW cocoons to help with the areation and drainage of the medium allowing for a few extra feedings for the next cycle.

thanks or watching and participating.

ghost

drying pics note #1 kind of washed out but the colors are detectable

#3 trimmed bud pride pic (72g)

fall colors

notable Bud (66g)

refreshed the 8+Cu ft medium with 2' cu perlite, 5-6 cups neem seed meal, and a similar amount of down to earth acidi mix  4-3-6. and an additional cubic foot of Black gold EWC mix and 1/2 gal of pure EWC (roots organic)

gave the soil a good dose of tea consisting of hygrozyme and earth juice rich humic (22% Humic acid ). . as well as a fair shot of Humboldt Honey ES. to get the microbes flourishing. All this got he ph down to 6.3 and the C.E.C. up. it worked wonderfully.  I did No additional limeing what so ever. I did however add both micronized and granular azomite in the recommended quantities.

we are really pounding the water in and did a  double fert cycles in veg.  I/e/ water feed water feed rather than water water feed. the vegs are at least a foot taller than this time last cycle and are overcoming supercropping attempts at an astounding rate.

the BD and Platinum OG really took off growing at a fantastic rate the Grape is looking lush and a nutritionally deficient Pure Kush plant is really showing its true colors again. these 6 plants virtually take up nearly 55 "square feet floor space

flower is starting in 6 days.

what a difference a week makes

here are some pics from just a week later (end of week 4)

1.) PK bud

2.) plant (please note expansion of bud sights from 1 weeks continued growth)

3.) Blue dream Bud

4. ) Platinum og bud sight

5.) bud field before

6. -7.).) Bud field after (please not Platinum og bud sights on front right plant for comparison )

blue dream grew another 4 inched during week 4 definitely slowing but buds definitely thickening. :girlcrazy:

Oder is much more pronounced and an increase in the trichrome development was very noticeable .

soil is showing a very slight drop in pH in the iIndica dominates from 6.9 to 6.7 during the last week. However the hybrids (BD & Pog) showed no such drop and are holding steady at 6.4pH. all inputted moisture corrected to 6.0pH prior to watering or foliage application

  • root wad temp is a solid 68 degree F
  • daytime room temp is 78 degrees F.
  • Room humidity is 50 -55%.

no noticeable insect activity upon close inspection of undersides or leaves.

Some yellowing of lower leaves was noticed. I attribute this to older leaves that are being consumed. . i prescribed removal of some of the small under branches on the hybrids due to poor health from a  lack of light getting to them.

this is going to be a very sizable yield perhaps up to 25% over last harvest.

OK heres the pics

1.) platinum OG bud

2.,3.) Is it snowing inside in May in the desert? platinum OG front right Blue dream other wise

4. -5. ) pure kush buds

6.) sea of Blue dream with 4 weeks to go

7.) Blue dream bud at 43 days of flowering (see thumb for reference)

8.) P OG Bud

I would say on day 44 of flower things are coming along nicely. Checked the ph of the soil and it was holding around 6.0 - 5.9 for the dreams and P OG . I prescribed a slight rise in pH of the moisture for 6.0 - 6.5 and additionally adding more moisture to the water only cycle in an effort to correct and stave off salt build up in the medium. (no perceived lock out deficiencies yet.)

see yall in 10 days .

thanks for watching.
