Hello Friend,

Sorry that you experienced a low potency harvest.

Judging from your pictures, it appears to me that you harvested a bit too early.  The Trichomes were all still crystal clear and it appeared that Pistils were still being developed.  It also appeared that the leaves were also still being produced.  I would suggest a bit more patience in the future.  Allow the plants to continue their LifeCycle a bit longer.

The classic signs of harvest time are various combinations of the following:

Lower fan leaves finally dying away, upper fan leaves beginning to tip yellow, Trichomes turning from clear to milky, even towards amber, Pistils turning amber or other colors and for the most part not being produced anymore.

I wish you more luck for your future grows.

Good Luck.

Maaan why didn't you came here before??? you were so much helpful, i had to say that  i cut them as ADVICE of my frend who is much more expirenced grower than me.,.. I grew strain hunters auto skunk and 1pyramid seed super auto hash, skunk supposed to be 9 week stran such as super has, i harvest skunk at their 82 day from sprouting, so i calculate that they will be ok... I found many calix who were just at the begining to let out pistils when i harvest it is that also a sign of non mature enough buds? So i left hash to harvest today but when i read your message i will left it 2-4 day more .. These are the pics takken today.. left is critical jack who is on 12/12 from wensday and i left hash on same regime too... I stop watering hash because i thought to harvest him today, but i watered him today one more time and when it drys i will cut him..

Maybe it is good that you left your superhash in soil...if you are watching Trichomes, then we need a video here.

Look for them to turn milky, have patience and they will turn amber, at first ambers, plan the harvest...

Dry-out and harvest is usually a real good procedure, just don't Forget to let the plant have a little life after a good flush before it dries out and really dies.

That flush is important to help the plant clean the nutes and salts out of the flowers, otherwise you wind up with that chemical taste and harshness.

Have a good grow

  • 2 weeks later...

Three day ago i cut down auto super hash at his 95day..  So this grow is finaly ower... I got 280g of dry weed from 5 auto skunk strain hunters but i harvest them too early so smoke is kind a weak, this super hash is more mature and resin and its much much better smoke... So my finaly results are 95 days of grow from seed to harvest ,and 330gr of dry weed from 6 plants

Nice bud-porn.

Buds are usually even better after a proper cure-time.

After the cure-period, it would be nice to have another smoke report.

Regarding the 60day vs. 85day to harvest.  Dont let the published Advertising data force you to harvest too early or too late.  Those data are, for the most part, a breeder's Best-estimate as to the expected outcome for the particular strain. (I'm talking about breeders that use properly equipped labs and scientifically-proper procedures and documentation; there are some who publish untested results only to achieve sales, These I dont mean.)

But remember, those results were derived during the breeders best attempts to have a successful grow.  It is virtually impossible to be able to duplicate every single characteristic from his grow: temperature, humidity, CO2 concentrations, altitude, circulation, air-exchange, nutrients, soil/medium conditions, pH, timing of the feeding, light intensity, light spectrum, timimg of lights, timing of the vegg-to-flower transition, pest control, etc.  The list is virtually without end as to what could be different.  So, the time-to-harvest estimates are only that, just estimates, not written in stone.  The best measure for a good harvest is to do your best to master the entire environment for your plant, be quick to recognize problems and take appropriate measures, try to provide the most perfect conditions for each plant, and then learn how the plant tells you when she is ready to harvest.  Obviously, this requires time and experience.

And obviously, such a method doesn't necessarily work well for large-scale operations where time or volume or profit are more critical priorities.  Medical growers are under even greater constraints because they are limited as to what they are allowed to do to grow, control pests, etc.  Following the rules of their state or inspections authorities, they can wind up encurring large losses through mandated destruction of their crop.
