jHumbert
Hi everybody, it was a long time since I came here.....now I'm making a grow experiment to understand and touch the difference between coco and soil. 1st week of flower. Space: Grow tent 4x4 (120x120) Smart Pots 10 liters / 2,6 gallons Soil and coco: Terra and Coco CANNA Professional Lithgts: 2 x 280w LED FullSpectrum Coco with Advanced Nutrients (base: SensiGrow and SensiBloom for coco): Chocolate Mint OG (HSO) - Bubblegum (THS) - Chocolope (unknown) Soil with Guano (organic): Chocolate Mint OG (HSO) - Bubblegum (THS) - Flowerbomb Kush (SH) - White Widow auto (Dinafem) Pictures in order: 1.Chocolope 2.White Widow auto 3.Bubblegum - coco 4.Chocolate Mint Og - coco 5.Chocolate Mint OG - soil 6.Bubblegum - soil 7.Flowerbomb Kush p.s. as you can notice, the soil ones are bigger than coco ones and I planted the seeds at the same time (exept Chocolope and White Widow auto)
jHumbert
I don't understand why the soil plants seem bigger and more reactive than coco ones.... Perhaps these genetics are not compatible with the coconut or maybe I'm wrong with irrigation? I give the coco solution everyday with a pressure sprayer. iCeSkunK
Hi Friend. Its Most likely the lack of Micro organism in the Coco. You need to ad some products with bacillus and trichoderma and other Earth bacteries and fungi. Another thing is how bad Coco holds nitrogen and you could gaine some laiter on i flower Stage by adding extra nitrogen i growth Stage.
iCeSkunK
Since you are using Advanced nutrients you could gaine a Lot by adding some of their Great addetives like Voodoo Juice, Piranha and Tarantula these are their root Mass tribe and they Work very well especialy when used Together in laite growth and start bloom. Tjeck their intiere products because they have evrything your plants need week by week.
jHumbert
Thank you very much iCeSkunk, you have probably hit the problem. This time I've added some Voodoo Juice, next time I will try also Piranha or Tarantula. I think another problem is the tap water with chlorine.... iCeSkunK
Tap Water with clorine slowly kills both you and your plants. Gather rain Water or bye an reverse osmosis system to purify your water and get rid of All unwanted Materials in the water. This way you feed your plants way more nutrients then you are used to when using tap water. Where i live er have about 350-800 ppm in the tapwater and when its cleaned with reverse osmosis it's 0-30 ppm. This makes IT possible to almost dobbel the amount og nutrients i can add to My nutrient solusion .
FIM
It really depends on your tab water if it is a better choice to use osmosis water. If you can drink the water and it tastes fine it is also ok for any plant, if you dont like the taste and smell you may better take rain water or osmosis water. I prefer rain water over osmosis for the cost of the osmosis water as the system I used to have ( think I threw it away ) had a lot of run-off water that had even more salts in then before...and we pay around 8-10€ per 1000L water to the community. SO making osmosis water is very pricey down the road of i have 80% run-off on semi-permeable setups as I had. Maybe there are far more efficient ones out now. whatever your water doesnt have you must add to it, so good tab is best imho.
jHumbert
My tap water is not too bad, it tastes pretty good. I usually leave the can open a whole day, helping the majority of chlorine to evaporate... But in the last few days I started to take the water from an automatic distributor in my town. No chlorine in it!
iCeSkunK
All IAm saying is that water contaning clorine must be purifyed before you eigther drink it or use it for your Plants. Clorine is used as a disinfection to kill bacteries. It Will kill essentiel bacteries in your stomac and in your Growing mediea. It Will eventually harm you and your plants. Rainwater is allmost as pure as osmosis water so I agree with you that if IT is a question about money rainwater is prefered. Other Wise I would use osmosis water to gain the maximum control over every aspect of My grow.
Tokage
I'm happy to say our water have no chlorine, well perhaps a little., A few years back we had no at all until some sort of filthy pipe and we had to run chlorine in our public water. I could feel the dif right away. But after a year that taste went away and im almost sure its back to normal now.
FIM
We do not have chlorine in our water in germany but I have been abroad many times, europe and usa...and most waters I came across, especially USA are plain ugly and non-drinkable out of the tab. The chlorine always turned me off. sure, having it stay open does help to get Cl out....any chance for massive rain water collecting ??
jHumbert
Hi FIM, as I wrote before, I've recently found a free automatic drinkable water distributor, so no money and no chlorine!!! Just few car rides.... I think I've solved this problem. Thank you all of your comments!!!
jHumbert
I also have a tank for rainwater if necessary.....
Tokage
Rain water is not only a free source it is also very pure and clean(if you live in a pollution free town/area). I bet rain water is even better than your free distributor
FIM
Rain water is best for many reasons BUT you must THEN ( same for osmosis btw ) not forget to ADD CALCIUM and MAGNESIUM and some other trace elements ( boron, zink, copper, sulfur ( maybe ), IRON, and some others ). You should look for an additive that is made to substitute the missing elements like Dolomite Lime ( Cal Mag ) and Mineral Magic or similar made for Hydroponics usually. I dont have that much rain water to use it but if I have enough I use it for last 10-14 days when on pure water, use it for flushing ( low cost ). For feedings on the regular schedule I honestly prefer our really good and balanced tab water as it has all the above mentioned trace elements in sufficient quantity but Calcium f you grow LARGE buds ( avoid budrott inside due to cell membrane collapsing ) is my findings on SOIL. If you grow on soil or coco I highly recommend PF as it is easy to use and has all the necc. trace elements included but Cal-Mag if you use rain or osmosis water. In that case add Cal Mag with Dolomite Lime or PF's own additive CalMag bag. I honestly think a bag of Dol-Lime is less than 1/10th the price and works just as good.
FIM
BTW..forgot...if you have an EC meter, check that water from the distributor. The harder it is the less likely you have to add trace elements but as said before from IceSKunk the overall dosis of fertilzer must be lower to stay within the range the plant can accept. Lower EC allows you to feed more, YES, BUT again..you then have to be a better cook with the right stuff on the plate, just more NPK wont do it with very soft water ( EC 0.1 -0.2, maybe even 0.3 depending on what is in it to make that 0.3 ). Ask him for a table of contents from a lab, he might hve one if he deals with drinking water, actually he should have one
iCeSkunK
PF Still Misses the ph perfect Technologie that AN has IT would be Just awesome if PW was able to provide the same ph stability.
FIM
Hmm, I have used to run my barrel for 3-5 days but always with lots of air stones, cool ( not above 18°C ), a closed lid to avoid contamination and it was always fine.If you use osmosis or rain water it will be much more volatile on the ph by definition as the extracted salts and minerals acted as a ph buffer, which are now missing to the most extend. I havent used AN fertilizer as I am very happy with PF performance and never had a real issue with the ph. Nowadays I always make a fresh solution and pour the rest away. Always fresh feedings. Also that was a watering res for soil and coco plants, not a DWC res that actually cycles... that I have no experience with with PF, in the times I did that there was no PF and I used Gen. Hydro 3part Flora for a long long time, incl. many of their additives and others...all not needed anymore with PF, some PK13/14, EWC, Gunao, Enzymes...and a lot cheaper too. With Flora 3part I had to adjust daily and not seldomly pour it all out and renew as it wasnt recoverable in PH, that i do rememebr well for small conatiners only, not for larger res in relation to plant(s) with adequate airt stones and cycling pumps to whirl the solution 24/7, but dont u do that anyways to just be sure it's ok ? As I am doing a 6-strain coco-run now I will see how PF performs throughout its range from green to orange over white to yellow ..:) well,..skip da yello..no Headspace HAHA. Need to do barrels for this and may gave to keep the solution(s) for a few days etc.. that will tell me if PH is volatiler than expected ( closed lids, airstones, waterpumps to perm. mix it ( keep in motion ), not more than 4-5 days then empty and clean res. ). Will see if that works out, last Coco with PF was indoor wc cup and went great until unwanted guys knocked the door on harvest day Till then coco&PF went very well, very very well Fim
jHumbert
I have added some PF in the Bubblegum soil solution because she had a little deficiency at the beginning of her life and she went great!

FIM
I just checked my own water analysis table again from our Water Works and we have only about 1/10th of the Chloride in our Water and generally have lower values throughout the range. If you can drink it right away its OK, if you feel like rather NOT drink it then you have to let it stand and vapour off the chlorine or clean it by other means. The dissolved salts are not bad imho. What comes by water doesn have to be bought and added by hand. Maybe others have a more funded and scientific approach to this.

FIM
Dont worry mate That's max most got anyways and if you post many pics you also have to watch your max capacity of 500MB total afair, ran into that barrier pretty quick once with a few dozen high res photos. Always make them smaller, say 1024x768 or HD but I would not recommend full scale 12MP cam shots unless for very special bud porn Edit: Forgot the most important: Nice Buds !
