Jamba Juice may not be so healthful, claims Mother Jones

Recommended Posts

Followers of Jamba Juice may not find the Feb. 28 Mother Jones report on the fast-food smoothie chain to their taste. Author Ashley Bates dared to look behind the curtain and see that “all natural” may not be the best way to identify the tantalizingly blended fruit smoothies. In addition to the possible dangers of Splenda, the calorie load isn't all that tasty in Jamba Juice, either. Article resource - Jamba Juice may not be so healthy, says Mother Jones by MoneyBlogNewz.

The real components in Jamba Juice smoothies

Nutrition has been looked at more closely recently with food. After the McDonald's oatmeal was torn apart for nutrition, many started to question Jamba Juice smoothies. Juice, ice and skim milk are not used to create Jamba Juice smoothies. This is the issue, Bates explains. The “simple, honest ingredients” Jamba Juice is committed to serving its consumers are optimized for high-speed service. In accordance with Jillian Shamoon, a Jamba Juice store general manager, actual milk cannot be used with fruit because they “don't taste good together.”. The classic smoothies instead are made with frozen yogurt and sherbet ice cream. If a consumer wants to go “light,” a “dairy base” containing the artificial sweetener Splenda is used.

Insane amount of calories discovered

The Mango-a-go-go Classic has, according to Bates, 400 calories in it in a medium size. This is typical for most medium sized Jamba Juice smoothies. The range from 250 to 600 calories is where much of the Jamba Juice smoothies lie. You realize suddenly that this is fast food when considering a McDonald’s Large Mac has 540 calories. Harvard Medical School’s Dr. Alison Field points out that a smoothie is a better choice than Large Macs typically. The only problem is that a lot of people will drink smoothies like snacks instead of meals meaning too several calories are consumed.

No comment from Jamba Juice websites

There has been no comment from Jamba Juice on whether or not smoothies are meals. It could be taken every way though. There are plenty of difficulties with Splenda by itself though. This is something anybody who's concerned about health already knows. Individuals who use Splenda really will gain weight more often than not as shown in studies that have been done, Fields explained.

That's not all, claims Dr. Janet Hull, author of “Splenda Exposed.” Hull claims that while more conclusive testing is still needed, there is reason to believe that Splenda and its variants may also lead to disruption of sleep, sexual dysfunction, increased instances of cancer, MS, Lupus, diabetes and other degenerative diseases.
