Forget it;

It is possible to reproduce the killer strains from well known breeders in a home grow room,

but honestly it is not worth the trouble.

The breeders earn their money, so I say when you want a killer strain buy from the best, the specialists.

Here is why:

It would take at least 5 grow cycles to come close to reproducing something like Super Lemon Haze.

Super lemon haze is a hybrid and does not breed true.

If you wanted to do this, then you would have to cross a super Lemon haze with another male;

grow out those seeds,

then pick the most vigorous male, and back cross it to the original Super Lemon Haze mother, and then grow out those seeds.

You now have in the offspring 75% of the Super Lemon Haze genes;

After growing out these seeds again ,

you pick the most vigorous male and back cross it again to your original Super lemon haze mother.

The seeds from this cross will have 87% of the original Super Lemon haze genes;

The majority of the offspring will now exhibit the traits of your original strain;

however, the offspring by now may have lost their vigor due to excessive inbreeding,

and will need to be out crossed again to regain their vigor.

It is a lot easier and less expensive to simply buy the seed.

If, however, you wish to experiment and want to produce some seeds for yourself, then it is possible to have some luck and produce a killer strain that no one else has except you; it is yours exclusively.

It may be almost impossible, however, unless you still have the original parents, to reproduce it again, so when you seed, do a few buds so that you will have one or two hundred seeds from that cross.

How to seed a plant but keep it seedless at the same time

Some background first; males do not need a lot of light to flower;

once they are flowering the light cycle is not as critical as in a female.

the male, although it can be keep under a small fluro(I have used 36watt tubes with great success) must be totally isolated from the females.

Once flowering, it does not need 12/12 to keep releasing pollen,

if the 12/12 cycle is broken from some reason, it does not matter as they will continue to flower, as long as they are well into the flowering cycle and are releasing pollen.

Water will kill pollen

You have a great female and a great male which you want to cross;

The male is in another room, say under a fluro(I have used bathroom, shower cubicles, windows;) it does not matter as long as the male releases pollen, is isolated from your females, and is in a non drafty area.

When the male is releasing pollen, put the pot on on a large sheet of white paper.

The pollen will be released and drift down onto the white paper sheet.

If it is releasing pollen, then every day if you fold the paper you will see quite a lot of pollen.

It is yellowish; collect it, you can store it in the fridge and even freeze it, and it will still have excellent viability when thawed.

A little bit goes a long way.

You will need a fine paint brush - the kind used for oil painting, and in particular, fine work.

Take your female plant out of the grow room, keeping her well separate from the male shedding pollen.

You have collected the pollen and have it in a small jar.

Take the paint brush(which must be fine haired) dip it into the pollen, and carefully dab it around the bottom buds you want to seed, the pistils on the bottom buds are where you want the pollen to go, and no where else on the plant.

Once you are happy, them you leave the female out of the grow room for as long as possible, say least 4 to 6 hours

.

Then you spray the plant until it is dripping wet with a water mist, as this kills any pollen which is left on the plant;

After giving her a very good spray, and she has completely dried, then put her back in the grow room.

If you have been successful in a week or so, the pistils will start to shrivel and fall off, and the seed pod will swell.

That is about it.

happy seeding,

john

I lot of hard work, experience, skill, imagination and, perhaps even a bit of luck goes into creating a strain that is a champion like Super Lemon Haze;

hundreds, if not thousands, of plants have to be grown out, and then selections made and recrossed, out crossed or back crossed, until the desired traits are displayed in the strain.

It is not easy, and there are no guarantees.

I think 50 dollars(which is what I just paid for 5 Super Lemon Haze seeds is a bargain;

On the other hand, when we grow the plant we exploit its desire to reproduce.

The whole reason for the plants existence is to leave behind off spring, to creat the next generation.

When we grow for seedless, this is particularly the case, as the plant knows its flowers have not been pollinated,

and in a desperate last attempt, puts all its energy into producing more flowers, in a futile attempt to catch pollen that is not there;

I first started to pollinate the lower bottom buds, because I felt for the plants,

and they seemed to be more content when a few of the buds were pollinated.

Their lives had not been in vain, as they had left a legacy in the next generation.

I then started to think, "hey, I wonder what it would be like if i crossed Arijan's 1 haze with bubblegum or maybe blueberry."

If you do manage to produce a killer stain, then you have something that is particular to you, you helped to produce it, even if you had to stand on the shoulders of other excellent breeders to produce it;

it is a strain only you have.

this strain can be propagated not only by the seeds you have, but also by cloning.

If the seeds are left in the fridge, they can last for over 5 years and still have a very high viability.

oh and yes, the pollen can be stored in the fridge or even frozen.

happy seeding,

john
