Hi skeng, thanks for your input, even tho you can doubt us stoners were already aware of it ;)

I suggest now you have a look at what GH is doing to try to change this 2013 ;)

Thanks for the share

Here in Limburg South of NL the weedpass is a fact starting May 1.

We are like tryout for the rest of NL, In Maastricht the Weedpass is already in business!!!

As a dutch citizen I would have to go to the county house to get some official document with my name adress and stuff on it!!

With that I have to go to the coffee shop of my choice and get registered!! :swoon:

Something I don't think a lot of Dutch will do!!

So the pass system is just as bad for the Dutch as it is for the Tourists!!

I sure hope they will stop this stupid system!!

Ah Dust, thank you... I knew that there was a history of regional governments (namely Amsterdam) opposing national law, plus the implementation in southern districts and I hoped that this situation would be negotiable.. Legally it seems as though there isn't a leg for them to stand on. I didn't understand the subtleties of the situation. What a shame it would be if a country famed for its liberal attitudes were to be taken over by these guys straight out the middle ages!! Already have a trip booked in July and have been twice in the past 6 months, so my spiritual home in an hour on a plane from London ;-)

My guess is that we're gonna see a lot more dealers selling from their living-room in years to come. Just like it was in the old days, before we had coffeeshops in the Netherlands. If our government really believes that hammering down on drugs to the full extent of the law will cure the drugproblem that only exists in their twisted minds, they're even more clueless than I already thought.

So how did a turist do if they wanted weed back then Hexx? Did you have to look around for a hippe kind of guy and ask him or?

Pretty much so. There would usually be someone hanging around where the bands were playing, or in one of those youth clubs with loud music. And once they trusted you, it was OK to visit them at home as well. Ganja was rare, though, where I lived it was mostly hash.

In Amsterdam it will not happen.

In September there will be elections probably, and a new coalition government including the socialist party (the most likely) will not implement the weedpass rules from the previous right-wing government.

oh I hope so it feels so bad being refused entry from shop!! we just refuse to get a weed-pass, many others with us!

But then the Dutch people still have to vote well and right!!

oh well, well see what happens, they won't keep me from smoking anyway.

As an oldtimer living only 350 kilometers away from A'dam I know the stone age pretty well. First there were 'House dealers' in paradiso + Melkweg plus in the 5 Gulden per night youth hostels where we often used to hang out - The sleep In..From around 11 to 12 and in the late afternoon a hash dealer passed by - he had not much variations and not the best quality, but.

Then Vondelpaark - Hippie types passing round each with a certain special Manali Hash, Thai sticks whatever.

The real bad spots were of course Leidseplein and Dam Rak. Red Light was for hard drugs only anyway ..Zeedijk 7 china Town- heroin was sold exclusively by chinese..

So this system kind of worked unless you came early morning late at night and had to buy in the streets.

For regulars like in arnhem etc. ouse dealers were pretty well established with a couple runners selling samples and attracting customers.. there you can often get other stuff as well which caused thousands of smokers getting hooked to hard drugs just because they were stupid enough to accept a free nose of white powder or opium whatever.

The thing is that holland has the best rate of seperating hard + soft drugs and less dutch smoke pot or use hard drugs than in the neighboring bigger countries and switzerland.

Same story in portugal after legalization crime went down and far less people died from OD'es or Aids than before.

But politicians Do Not care about health of their citizens ..worst is the US

"if they break the law fuck 'em"..

Seems I should go to HTCC this year, who knows when that is next ..lol
