Sweet Mango long flowering

Recommended Posts

Hi all, well I have a query that Sweet Mango was planted on November 1, 2013 and is just now starting to flowering because'm getting 12 hours of darkness after the sun.

My question is whether the high temperatures recorded here in my country (Argentina) that almost reached the 40º C may be affected? And if being in the dark can affect flowering?

It has no deficiency because the irrigation Powder Feeding Mass Indica since I was seedling,
substrate and has a well prepared, is in a 20 liter container.

I am very surprised that being self and takes more than 60 days of vegetative and recently starting to flowering and whether to put in the darkness or leave out with a little light from the headlights of the street, as measured 1.75 m

(This post is also in the Spanish-language section but no one could give me good advice)
Thanks
& Bless :smoke:

since the plant is growing outside, it will be near impossible to "Sex" or to force your plant to flower. Right now i believe since your plant is in vegetative mode and its january, you might have to wait till october to get anything from your outdoors plant.

My advice, Clone Her with Clonex Rooting Gel, and take the clones inside for n indoor grow where u can setup 24 hr veg light cycle and get explosive growth. Also you have complete control of when the plant flower by switching to a 12/12 cycle.

Do not for any reason leave the headlights on your plant when it is suppose to be sleeping. Since this is an outdoor plant it has gotten use to the natural light cycle of where you live. Do not tamper with its light cycle because light leaks when its supposed to be sleeping, are huge set backs in growth and could cause the bud to be less potent, or even hermaphrodite.

I'm sure others could attest to the validity of my response. Happy growing and good luck with the outdoor grow

Also remember that the light cycle is the main factor in flowering. A plant needs 12 hours of dark out of 24 hours to start to produce female flowers. I hope this helps somewhat

Thanks for comment but is an auto-flowering plant which does not mean you have to change the photoperiod alone because she flourishes. With respect to light what is that I should change it to not achieve hermaphroditism and here in Argentina summer ends March 21, I do not understand why you put October from now thanks but hopefully another answer.

Because October is usually the harvestable period for outdoor marijuana. Oh so she is autoflower? She will flower under constant light, but i use to have an autoflower and i was able to increase its speed of bud production by using a 12/hr dark 12/hr light, light cycle. The strain I had was Called Blue Mammoth Auto from Barneys i think. It did well in both light cycles but the dark helped it when i changed the cycles up gradually.

At 60 Days and with such a huge plant , id see no harm in putting it in a 12/12 cycle to force it to flower :] that is a decent age for a plant

oh and hermaphroditism is rare, but can happen under irregular light cycles. Marijuana loves routine so make sure the "Sun" comes up every day at the same time. :] and it "Goes down" at the same time every day :] this will greatly reduce the risk of hermaphroditism.

Ok bro then leave you with the photoperiod of 12/12 to harvest or if you leave out a little light the harm? that's my question

hi man! Well with autos in outdoor it's kind of tricky, i don't know if it's due to your country or latitude or anything like this, because in Argentina it seems the autoflower plants, on some strains at least, take a little time to flower. Maybe it is indeed due to the weather, or the amount of sun, or altitude i don't know, maybe it forces a little the photos genes to come out and therefore takes a little longer to flower. But like someone said above i think she already started her flowering and soon she should start to make the preflowers, could you mae a picture a little closer from the top noeds and internoeds?

but if you can for sure it will help her to get her in the dark 12h per day like it has been said. but real dark, you mention that you don't know if you have parasite lighting coming at night, but to make sure and help her if you can it's nice to force a little the flowering like this. I know not everyone as a place to put a plant in the dark so it's up to you.

Ad in your place right now how many hours of night do you have? and for coming month how is it going to be?

Good luck man

Hi Dust! accurate that was a question that arose yesterday me next month as I was doing so I will leave out in the darkest place and flourish alone, the preflowers are already forming, I am very happy with the size I reach what promises a good harvest

Thanks and good smoke for all

Maybe to do with pheno type, many of us have grown strains that have shown two more pheno's. some more sative & some more indica, it is possible that some auto pheno's have differing amount of the ruderalis genetic in it. Sever climatic condition may expose these traits in an auto variety, which would not normally show in normalconditions. Breeding cannabis is done in optimumconditions and such traits will not show.

Cannabis is not happy in temps over 30oC can cause etolation (elongated stems) if the plant is growing in a pot the root system may get too hot. try to cover dark colours with white paint or provide shade for the pot. Also check that the plant isn't rrot bound.

High temperatures slows metabolic growth of cannabis.

A plant that is grown in soil can send the roots down into cooler soil and have more water to cool down with. Aplan tin a pot can not do this, pot also dry out quickly in hot weather due to pot being heated by the sun but also from transpiration (plant sweat). If possible grow in the ground , in a nicely pepared bed containg lots of nice organic soil that will retain moisture. If you can't grow in the ground go for the biggest pots you can (painted white or wrapped in white plastic), this will help keep the root zone cool and hold more water.

these things considered may have had an effect on your sweet mango, as temps drop you should see an improvement.

Be sure to keep us updated and maybe also keep a daily temperature journal, so we can see the differences as the temp changes. This will help us understand how excessive heat  affects  "sweet mango" growth pattern and flowering. Which may help other in the same situation and temperature range.

Peace and smokes

Hi All,

well the truth that there was any problem, due to the high temperatures must have produced an elongation that favored luckily for production.

Flowering is 21 days and the truth that comes in handy, let's hope that all goes well.

Sorry for the picture quality but it is from the phone and edit the background to not interfere objects, get a camera to shew later for the beautiful detail of this plant trichomes.

Peace and good smoke for all

Hey Kaneh :)

Picture quality is pretty good for a phone picture.

Though to see some  even better ones later will be something to look forward to.

Great to hear your loving the powder feed :D She looks like she likes it.

Sweet mango on average finishes between 70cm -100cm , looking at your lady I would be guessing she is around the 120cm plus, love to know how tall she is, can you let us know when you post more pics later.

Already the bud structure is starting to look pretty nice & give her another month or so of flowering & she will be sure to start filling out nicely.

Looks like the top cola has  excellent potential aswell.

Peace & smokes

Hi Lams!

If this measuring + 1.50 m from the substrate, the substrate reaches 1.80 m

As flowering progresses I'll be taking pictures of evolution.

Honestly to be automatic these latitudes will feel fine, leave a picture of the tail is starting to smell really good.

See you soon with the progress in pictures :bye:

Peace and good smoke :smoke:
