  1. Hello! My name is Beth, and though I've been smoking weed for nearly 20 years, I've only just recently started working in the industry. I come to the weed world by way of the open data and design world, and my brain can't get enough of everything that I'm learning about this plant. I found this site because I'm currently on vacation on Reunion Island, which I've come to because my mother-in-love has a friend here and she wanted me and my partner to come visit with her. In researching the cannabis culture on the island, I discovered this article and this site: Apparently there's a perpetual landrace growing here – which can flower 2-3 times - and I am super interested in finding it! We leave the island in 9 days, so there's time to give it a solid try. Initially I was going to contact the author, but I've since learned that he's sadly passed away (which I want to learn more about too). Anyway, I'm here to see if I can find this landrace. Because apparently the only thing that can get my mind off of collecting weed data is going out into nature and searching for weed. Many thanks to the organizers for putting this together! Also! If anyone happens to read this and is interested in the Open Cannabis Project, check it out here: https://opencannabisproject.org/ We're in the process of rebuilding the database. Cool things coming soon... [plant emoji] + <3

  3. Hey'all! It's been a while. A long while. But i'm back at it! Finally! So: I've been long debating with friends (i guess we all do) about whether a plant would survive a 24/0 schedule, hence a 24 hours of light and no time for a nap. We all know where this discussion goes: "YES it's possible! NO it's not! It's not natural! But automatics!!" It's an endless cycle of despair, and nobody has a true, definitive answer to the question. Now, i know many people have done this before, and yes, i'm very aware of my economical expendancies, thank you. All i want to do is see it with my own eyes. Will the plant suffer because of a constant 24 hours schedule? Possibly. I want to see that. And if it doesn't, then it'll be just a big plus for me. Will the plant go hermie on me, because of light stress? Who knows! I'm here to learn. So here i am, drinking a cola, dirtying my hands, gluing soundproof panels to the walls. It took me a while, but hey, look at the results! Soundproofing the whole room took me exactly 145 50x50cm panels, by the cost of 4 euros each, hence a grand total of 580 euros. I've also boxed the extractors. Covered the lower one with panels as i didn't want to do occult ads, hehe. The boxes are inner-covered with soundproof panels as well. Noise inside the room, and Noise outside the room I've also decided to freshen my light rack. I'm using a good old shitty 65W Cob lamp, and in late flowering i'm going to add a couple extrashitty ufos, 9W each, just to add some colors to the white, dead spectrum of the COB. Some blurple can't hurt, amirite? For this run, i chose a Northern Lights (Feminized), and the schedule i'm gonna run on her is gonna be a 24/0 in the 2 first weeks of the VEG phase. If the extra light theory works, then that should definitely save me some time. Why did i choose a NL? Well, it's a pretty easy strain to grow, and responds well to techniques and stress. The whole idea of this grow is to be experimental, not professional. Gonna use a 1Gallon (3.8 Lt) pot for this run. Small, compact, practical. Like a chocolate bar. 4. Hi growers. This is germination complete, first soaking in water for 8 hours then placing in wet tissue. Two and a half days later we could see shell had split and left them another 12 hours before putting to coco and watered at around 6ph, the germination was plain tap water.
  5. Hello masters.growers and friends. First of all im sorry if my english is not so good.this is my first grow and my first plant ever. And it was literally unplanned. Never have i thought of growing my own cannabis plant. I found some seed in brickweed and as that time i was also watching some videos at youtube how to germinate seed. So i gve it a try and it worked. Up to this day i never knw what kind of strain my plant is. Someone told me it was sativa landrace and is better for me not to grow it. Since it took a long time to flower, its tall and plus i didnt even know whether it is male or female. If it turns out to be male then im just wasting my time. So i better buy some autofeminize/autoflower seed for safety. Thats what he told me.If he could gift me some seeds thn this all would be easy. I can hardly get any brickweeds let alone a good seed. Well my plant is still here and is growing bigger everyday(i think). And i might need some help! Thank you for your time! . Day 5 and day 11. As u can see in day 5 i have no idea what to do. I even gave it blanket. I keep moving it every hour to make sure it get enough sunlight. And in day 11 i transplant my plant to normal pot.
  6. Hi Hunters! I would like to start take my grow a bit more seriously and start to grow by selection from regular seeds ! As u know by regular seeds u can grow males and females do own strains, cross what u want and feel like a "Farmer". I would like to find strong genetics and grow females by selection. I know it takes more time and more knowledge but could be worth it ! But on evry corner now is just autos feminis autos autos and all the "strong genetics" I'm sure u have tested many diffrent strains and You may know some good strains to start with... Let's chat about it..
  7. Equipment: Box 60x60x180 cm (0.36m2). Active air output at 100 m3/h. Passive air entry. Blowing air - canal fan at 100 m3/h. Pot - SmartPot 35 liters. Peat pot one litre. Substrate - "Ugro Pure Superior" Water - mineral osmosis 250ppm. Drip watering of my manufacture - tubes 5mm and a tank for 10 liters. Lighting: Collected by me according to my scheme. It includes an aluminum plate with ribs and active cooling - two 120 millimeter coolers (900 rpm), the size of a plate of 12 to 40 centimeters, a thickness of about 2.5 millimeters. Citizen's LED matrix: 3500k (50w); 3000k(50w); 3000k (100w) - all matrix connected to individual drivers from Mean Well - efficiency of about 91-93%. At a distance of 80 centimeters from the plant, the lamp gives about 33,000 lux, the chips are installed 90 degree lenses made of glass. Without any locks and other tricks. I take the sieve, I take a non-transparent package of zip-lock, I take two clean cotton discs, wet the discs with clean mineral water, squeeze them to become slightly moist and they do not leak water, put the seed between the discs, all this thing put in an envelope zip-lock and breathe in it with its "carbon" gas, then close the envelope and send to a dry dark place with room temperature 23-24C (in the box For example). Day D Two days of waiting... on the third day of the seed sprouted and showed the spine, it's time to "plant"! In my experience - I make an acceleration of growth, so that I help the plant first of all get rid of the helmet and run on the full processes of photosynthesis (I do not advise you to produce it yourself, if you do not have the experience of "dumping the helmet" because sloppy and inaccurate actions you can harm or worse - to kill the future plant). With the help of two clean "tooth cleaners" carefully remove the helmet from the sprout. Immediately plant it in a peat pot of 1 liter with a "no substrate" substrate, namely "Ugro Pure Superior", which contains 80% pure coconut fiber, 5% perlite, 5% guano bats, 5% endomycosis and 5% biohumus. This substrate contains nutrients that will last for 2 weeks of sprout life, but I'm going to feed the vegetable in the second week of life, and it will be very good to eat! Closer to the third or fourth week, I'll transplant the vegetable into a 30 liter pot "Smart Pot", but for now we are gaining patience and just waiting. Watering the first week i carry out without fertilizer, but well "acidified" water, PH 5.7, PPM 250. Watering, as usual, at the beginning of the light cycle, and the cycle is set to 20/4. DAY 3 DAY 6
  8. Hola co mosta. This is my first grow and it was unplanned. I got the seed from brickweed and tried to germinate it. And it worked. 9. Hello i am nearly 40 yrs at age from Germany. I grow(ed) since i was 14 I think. Since 2015 I was allowed to buy medical Cannabis thanks to my Doctor at that time Mr. F. Grotenhermen (ACM) . Now i got a little bit by my insurance but the problem is that ill miss 10-20g a month cause only get now 50 instead of 90 g and only Bedrocan and pedanios 22/1, if not available i sit here with nothing. So the new german law is not what we wished like. Any questions? Regards Sonchaos. Edit:Its 10x WR, 1xBB and one Bk at pictures
  10. This is my first post in this forum. I thought it a good idea to start by some background regarding my growing experience and history. I am a mid 30s adult that live in South Africa and have been growing for personal use for more than 10 years. I fell in love with the plant the moment I took my first drag. What intrigued me was the complexity, veriaty and diversity of the plant and of course the effect. It was only later in my early 20s that I started my research and experimentation in growing. As I live in South Africa where we have lots of sunshine, I mainly grew outdoor and mostly local strains where I got the seeds from the local pot I smoked at the time. Since then I have grown a number of different amazingly diverse strains, all natural and organic..... somewhat since n use vegetable fertilizer from time to time to nurture and replenish my soil.
  11. So these girls are supposed to take 12-14 weeks of flower time and where I live I'm lucky if I get 12 weeks so what I did was carry them into an out-building to induce artificial darkness 12 and 12. I did this for about two weeks give or take and then stopped as soon as the rest of my plants began to flower. I believe I've succeeded in putting them a couple weeks ahead of the natural schedule. When the flower is finally ready I wanna try making thai-stick you know with the bamboo stick and Rasta hair. I'll update later in flower cycle 😎
  12. Here are some pictures of my current batch of sativas. This is my first time to top and use LST on my plants. If theres any way for me to improve on it, please share your ideas with me. Thanks!
  13. ¡Hola Amigos! —FDC <3
  14. Hey hey hey New run of girlies. I met this nice guy Louie at a party and he gave me my first proper dabs. (Dabs are not very common in my country). He gave me three seeds of some dank he had bought some time back. Only one seed popped, so you can imagine i was little nervous that one seed got potted outside and turned out to be female! Happy days, so in the fall i snipped some clones. And now as the green love potion has left the flower room it is time to see how louie's skunk will flower The mother was left outside to see how it would flower. And it seems it will be a ~10weeks flowering period indoor. The growing media is unfertilized peat mixed with coarse vermiculite and worm castings/compost in 20x20cm net pots. The lights are same like before (2x chinese COB LED (cree cxa3070)). The last is a picture of the mother as she looks now - i hope i get some purp on the flowers indoor, but not likely
  15. Hello! Was wondering where you guys go hunt for hard to find seeds (sold out, legendary strains that are no longer distributed, or simply small batch breeders packs...). I was on FB groups for a while but got ripped off twice and decided to stop. IG has been better but I got unlucky again recently... Hope it's not a trend on IG. Been using forums but it's hard to find what your after and I heard of people being ripped off too on some other forums. Any other option you guys use??? Thanks
  16. One of Indonesia's original cannabis strain. This is what i found in South of Sumatra, Lampung, couple years ago. Smell fresh, taste light and energizing. All we need is cannabis regulation not prohibition. Imagine how Indonesian citizen could benefit from this multi-functional plant; food, clothing, house, medicine, etc. When u see the light, stand up for ur right!

  18. Hey, I´m on my way to the first grow, but i still lack some information that I just couldnt find online. I came here over the strainhunter seedbank, a support member suggested that I should check this forums to get my questions answered. I´m planning to start the grow in the next few month, but I want to plan what I can to make it work. A quick overview of my planned setup: gorilla grow tent 4x4(120x120cm), 4 Airpots(15l), Hyper Fan Stealth 710CFM, Phresh Filter 8" 750CFM, Tao Tronics Humidifier, 70-Pint Dehumidifier, also some nutrients that I saw another good grower using and a water-heater, some viparspectra lights, but I plan to change them out for a blackdog led later, but I cant really afford them right now. The parts(except for the lights)are permanent and optimal for their purpose in my opinion, so I only have to get new lights and my setup is mostly done. I have migraine and my mom has back pain, so I´m planning on getting 2 Plants for medical purpose, one just for the bang and one for a friend with very good yield. For migraine, according to studies and clinical surveys, high THC is the best, but for pain in general and also specific back pain, high thc and cbd are good. I havent really decided 100% yet, but my choices so far are: (Migraine)Medical plant #1: Sour DIesel, Girl Scout Cookies, White Widow, Bubba Kush (Back Pain)Medical plant #2: Great White Shark CBD, Harlequin, TheChurch CBD Banger plant(or something nice that comes into mind or I want to try out/your Suggestions what I should try out/be growing): Sour DIesel, Girl Scout Cookies, Blackberry Kush, Super Silver Haze, Super Lemon Haze ->one per category Friend´s stuff: The Ultimate, White Rhino(could also be used for medication) , Money Maker Strain(also good for relaxation) Planned grow Technique(obviously): SCrog Are there any other strains that you would recommend for any of the purposes ? Also is there anything to make better at my setup ? Something as good or better, slightly more expensive is fine or maybe even cheaper ? And for the growing process itself: How long do you let the inline fan run, 24/7, in intervals or something else ?(I do negative pressure to get air into the tent, if I dont want the smell I have to let it run 24/7 right ??) Also is a thermostat necessary and do you know a good one ? What is the best way to control the temperature ? Is there a good thermostat that you can connect to (de)humidifer and the whatever-it-is-temperature-control-unit ? Also is there a good trimming scissor that you know ? I havent looked for one yet.... Also when should I flush the plants and how do I do that ? I also saw people getting nearly all leaves of their plant when they put them into flower or something.....is that good and should be done ? Whats the best method and recommended in my case?(Topping, Fimming, Super Cropping,...) I hope I didnt forget anything and if you noticed anything I can do better, improve or even forgot please tell me ! I have never grown cannabis and I want to do it as good as possible ! The setup should be done except for the light, the other parts, in the best case, can stay "forever". If i made grammar mistake please excuse it I´m from germany and trying my best Greetings Alex
  19. Hello! I start a culture under LED light, to avoid excessive heat in summer. It's the first time I've used an Autopot system, so it'll be very interesting for me, everything is new. So far, I have prepared the substrate (coconut and 50% perlite). In the bottom of the pot, I put some arlite to improve the drainage. And so that the coconut is not constantly in contact with the water, in some way, to avoid areas with excess water. Let's go see it That blue thing, it's an Air Dome, a system that supposedly injects air into the roots, so they're more oxygenated. I don't know if it works well, it's the first time I've used it. There is a tube (you can see it in the picture) that is connected to a small air pump. The Autopot system is still not working. So the first waterings will be manual, with a shower as usual. When the plants show the roots they will colonize the pot, then the Autopot will start to work. I put in four different varieties of Green House. Can you guess one of them? Cheers
  20. Hello I seem to be able to use technology a little better in daylight hours so will have a crack at this. I'm not a strain hunter, just a very well travelled weed aficionado who seems to always end up in bizarre places but I always manage to sample the local offerings ive kept a Journal of strains and where and any good for the last thirty years, always been around growers and am in the process of applying for a research licence. My two main areas of research are climate suited strains hoping to cut down the energy footprint of commercial grows which rely heavily on aircon in Australia and developing a natural plant hormone derived "tonic" used in conjunction with your existing fertiliser regime. Testing has been very promising on all crops I've used - increased yield, slightly quicker growth rates, getting hold of that apical dominance and encouraging plants to branch out horizontally aiming for shorter internode spacing. I have three family members with cancer at the moment who are all annoyed that no doctor here seems to want to be the first to prescribe. So, yes, it's personal too. I was given some land on Tanna island in Vanuatu for my translating and advisory services (I speak Bislama and Pidgen, the worlds two least needed languages) and at some stage would like to assist the village women in using the landraces that grow all over the island to weave mats they pay their kids school fees with, and also perhaps to come up with something better than a nambas for their husbands to wear....it's difficult to give advice on tourism development when you are the only person on the island without your bum bare. There are a couple of places I'd like to help out - Madagascan ladies who do the most amazing embroidery and use the landrace there as fire kindling, and the people of PNG who have an amazing strain but no idea that it can be used for anything other than getting stoned, drinking, chewing betel nut and subsequently beating each other up. Ive been extremely lucky to have lived this life less ordinary so feel an obligation to give something back, and I can't think of anything better to give back than this awesome herb I've chased around the planet. I'm not a strain hunter and would never call myself that so I will settle with Canna geographer Thanks for having me and I'm sure I will be able to learn a lot from you all
  21. With the recent recovery of possible wreckage of flight MH370 on the Island of Reunion, my Google searches turned up some interesting articles. I posted my findings at the end of Franco's Article about Landraces of Reunion Island. My links to further Information and the Bull Sharks of Reunion Island (posted on 31 July 2015) are found under Franco's Article. Here's the link to Franco's Article: http://forums.strainhunters.com/site/index.php/index.html/_/articles/landraces/reunion-island-the-perpetual-weed-r17?st=0#comment_511 I have heard that the Zamal Landrace is very very good, so maybe Reunion Island might be a cool Destination for the Strain Hunters. This picture is of Cannabis as grown on Reunion Island, credit for the photo goes to Lamota's Blog.
